I still have not seen one piece of anything to substantiate the claim that either will be 100%, or near 100%. Being cleared to play ball isn't the same thing as being able to play at a high level, if that makes sense. I just refuse to go crazy, because everyone is expecting both guys to come back at All Pro levels, but I doubt highly that happens this year especially, and maybe ever.

There is nothing to substantiate that they'll come back at or near 100%. I may be speaking only for myself, but my comments on Bentley (and Baxter) are only made assuming they come back at or near 100%. There's a difference between assuming and *expecting*. I'm not expecting anything (I've been a Browns fan too long to get my hopes too high.

A big injury like a torn patella, it's hard to predict what they can come back to. Look at K2, he'll never be 100% again (for example). I expect both of them to be players, but not the guys they used to be. Bentley scares me the most...he's a drive/power blocker, and if he's got one flat tire....

I'd just be happy to have Bentley back and healthy. RG, C, long snapper etc, I don't care. The guy is a gamer, and his dream is to play for the Browns.
Congrats to him on getting back this far.

"dont be so sure of urself."
Actually I trust my judgement...but I don't know what you're coming down on...my opinion was not stated as fact just stating my opinion. But I did state the facts that determine my opinion.
What I am sure of is he passed his physical from his surgeon. BUTT!! they stated as a fact also that he cannot hit for 5 weeks.
Draw your own conclusions...but I am not SURE of anything that is opinion including mine.

"ahhhh...not so fast my friend....I believe were gonna be plesently suprised with Hank, He's got a full season under his belt here, he's happy here, he's coming in training camp from the get go, I for one like Hanks deminer and tuffness, he's a fighter and a scrapper, not saying Bently's not, but with Hank at Center & Bently at guard"
How could anything being stated for 08 be considered as reacting too fast...lol
I'm saying 100% healthy and at least a half a season under his belt with the rust worn off. Now he's in training camp and wishes to compete for the Center position.
I like Hank but a healthy Bentley will win that spot in any competition. Surely you're not suggesting that Hank is a better Center than Bentley.
Remember we are not going to sit still at the RG position and will continue to find talent for it...especially in the draft and sooner or later Sowells should emerge or fall by the wayside.
I'm not kicking Hank out just stating a fact. Bentley will want to compete for the Center position maybe in 08...if he does he will be our Center. Nothing fast...just FACT

He got a passing grade. My Questions is.. was the grade an A, B, C or a D?
As for working him in the rotation slowly.. well duh!

I'm guessing that the grade was simply Pass or Fail... but yeah, what we don't know is what exactly constitutes that passing grade.
For all we know, simply being able to walk was enough for him to pass.

I agree on that. I get the impression that the Browns will take their time with Bentley; passing a physical doesn't mean he'e ready to play football. Why push it. We may not see him until halfway through the season.

No, it would be to a higher standard than that. I know in disability related issues the physical is administered being occupation specific. What constitutes as passing for one occupation might not for another.

Yep. Afterall, here's what the results said..."Browns center LeCharles Bentley passed his physical in New York Monday morning and has been cleared by his surgeon to resume football activity, Bentley said Monday."
If he was cleared to resume football activity, then the physical should have (keyword: should) have been rigorous and thorough enough to test the knee under the stresses that a football player would face. It's not like he was given one of the usual physicals we're given.
I know we're all skeptical and keeping our fingers crossed, but I think this says a LOT about how healthy he really is. We'll see.

Just to add to what you have said...He already had a physical where it was stated he was able to return to a normal life. This physical was for his occupation. Just passing it doesn't mean much. He will still have to prove he can actually comeback at be able to play. A huge thing to accomplish but I hope the best for him.

As a downer here.....the physical the Browns physicians administer could be to a higher criteria. many times attending physicians are just a tad easier since they have developed a relationship with the patient.
Not to say they pass people through, but they know the patients attitude on the matter and leave it for the people with a stake in the matter to give the final yes or no if the guy is somewhat borderline.
The doctor isn't going to pass a guy clearly unable......but they might if the guy is borderline.

Well you're gonna be getting ticked off all the time then. We're just Browns fans shooting the breeze, and anyone with two posts should wait awhile to feel things out before they start telling us how to post. You need at least five posts before you're allowed to do that.
Maybe this board is for you, maybe it isn't. Either way, go or stay... it doesn't matter because nobody here is indispensable.

Being a Browns fan for over 50 years, I have learned to expect the worst (less disappointment, unbridled joy if it is better than expected) and welcome all luck. so I hope that the Big B is healed for good. Hope the Elf watches over him! Meanwhile, go Browns! And may the Elf be with you!

This is good news. I am happy that LCB will show up to camp and take his physical. With the injury of last year he must have been exteremely disappointed.
I think it would be a good idea to let things play out a bit before trying to predetermine the future.
I know it's not as fun as speculating, but I am sure the Browns and LCB do not want another injury.
