Maybe so, but I do remember the team asking his to gain weight...and when you are pretty beefy and near 30, you don't put that on all in muscle.
Back at weight, AD is a good player.

Like I said, Andra started following Jamal's tough offseason regimen, and it looks as though it paid off. I've read about how strict Jamal is in the offseason to keep his body as healthy and in shape as possible.

Howdy Peen.
I feel AD is as good as he ever is gonna be. At best he is a solid mike.
He lack the agressiveness it takes to be a very good ILB.
Beau is his successor when he is ready.
What more can you expect froma gator?

I was at the afternoon practice today. No pads this practice. I saw a few things that were pretty interesting
Braylon was catching the ball consistantly. He was catching everything thrown his way granted it wasn't anything to physical or anything. He made one spectacular catch on a ball thrown behind him where he tipped it with one hand reaching back and then grabbing it with that same hand to bring it in.
Brady Quinn was not throwing the ball consistently accurate. He failed to throw a catchable ball numerous times. He was told a couple times to take control on the field and to fix the problem before the snap. On a positive note he did sign autographs for quite some time when no one else was signing.
Paul Hubbard looked to be our tallest receiver. He was listed as 6'2 but he was taller than braylon when they were standing together. I didn't see anything too great from him. He seems kind of slim to by physical enough to go up for a deep ball but thats just my opinion.
Travis Wilson seems to get slower every year. He was slower than everyone else in all the drills and in and out of cuts during routes.
Rubin doesn't look like the 330lbs he is listed as. I didn't get to see a whole lot from the D line because it was mainly drills and they were on the opposite field. I could see Shaun Rogers perfectly clear from where i was sitting.
I didn't see Kevin Kasper at all today. I don't know what the deal is there.
Rucker didn't look 260lbs. Him standing next to Dinkins was a big difference in size.
Anderson looked pretty well today. Most of his passes were right on the mark.
Stallworth didn't participate in every drill but when he did he seemed to be quick with all of his cuts. He did bobble a few passes though if my memory serves me correctly.
Vickers had the day off.
Thats about it. I'll be there again tomorrow morning and will post an update later that day.

Nothing really to add to my brother's post. As he said, we didn't really get to see the defense at all. Tomorrow we will be watching them quite a bit. Hubbard was nearly as tall as Dinkins and if he could add some bulk could be a potential replacement for Joe J. Zastadil was booming the punts wiht consistency. Braylon was coming out acting like a leader. He was leading all the drills and was catching the ball with consistency.
Quinn was just off all day. He was missing his targets, and often it wasn't even close. DA on the other hand was throwing very well. It appeared that he was the leader on the team. After practice Quinn and Steve Sanders were working out together and Quinn was looking better then. DA was working out with Edwards and Stallworth.
I agree and second everything else in my brother's post... I think.

Thanks! You answered part of what I was wondering. One friend who has been to camp LOVED what he saw of BQ (but my friend is a certifiably insane NDame fan with little judgment and hates the Buckeyes. Not to worry, he is on profound amounts of medication and a telethon is under consideration as well). However, if DA actually develops a short passing game which Chud would adore, we could be tough for others to swallow.
Especially if that ChudMonster decides to rotate "skill packages" that would really force a defense to adjust to us. That doesn't happen much unless you hurt people offensively. But if he shows a creative variety mixed with a good vanilla groundpounding game, I would not want to prepare for us. I like these updates from camp; we aren't getting any TV coverage and rarely any newspaper because we live too close to the Cyncytucky River and TW Cable must have failed geography; I am in Ohio and can't get most Cleveland news here. Monopolies disgust me. Appreciating your reports, I am.

Just got back from camp for the afternoon session. I'll give some observations for those interested.
First of all, we were able to get into the VIP area, which was nice, but the offense and all of the team drills and 11 on 11 was all over on the field on the other side. So I won't have too many details on that stuff.
I did however have the Defensive drills as well as the OL/DL drills in front of me. So that is what I focused on the most. I did occasionally peek over onto the other side and tried to catch some action. There was a lot of cheering over there, so I'm guessing the offense was in sync and looking good.
Here's my observations:
1. DL - I wanted to focus on our 2 new big guys. Unfortunately, Corey Williams was nowhere to be seen. Any info? Hopefully he was just given the night off.
Rogers is not only huge, he's athletic and strong. He just basically pushed everyone back off the line easy. He looked athletic running and cutting around the tackling dummies.
Purcell made some nice moves, saw him get into the backfield. Once was against Sowells, so maybe it doesn't mean much....more on that next......
2. Isaac Sowells - yeah, that boy will get cut. It didn't matter who lined up against him in drills, he got beat. Starter or back up. At one point, a coach pulled him aside after getting beat, talked to him, and put him back in there instead of rotating them like they had been. He didn't fare any better. Committed too much to the outside, then got beat inside.Saw him just get beat straight up on the outside several times as well. (playing RT)
3. Didn't see much of the DBs. I watched some, but their drills weren't giving me much, so I focused more on the DL and LBs. I did see Mil'von James make a nice pick over on the other field.
4. Alex Hall - this kid has a LOT of potential. His frame is large. Looks very tall on the field. If this kid can learn, understand and adjust to the NFL, he could make quite a tandem opposite of Wimbley. He looks fast, got off the snap well. He looks like he can bulk up very easily and not lose anything. This kid could be the steal of the draft if he makes the jump. Nice job Phil. Nice job!
5. Speaking of Wimbley, that guy is one big muscle. Just totally ripped. Quick, explosive. Didn't see him using too many moves, though, and definitely didn't get past Joe Thomas. He actually walked over next to me after practice to his wife and new baby daughter. Was giving her little kisses. We was nice enough to give us some autographs when we was done. Super nice guy. Can't stress that enough. Just seems like a class act. Jason Wright came over with him, but he was also with family, and I didn't want to bother him. By the time they were done talking, Wright left, but Wimbley stayed for us.
6. Joe Thomas is a stud. Stood up everyone he faced. Nothing else I gotta say about the guy. Joe Thomas. Stud.
7. The QBs - yeah, I'm sure everyone wants to hear this.
Like I said, I was on the opposite side from the O and 11 on 11's, but I did peek over there. Plus when the ST took the field, the 3 QBs came over to our side and threw.
After practice, DA and Dorsey threw for a little while on our side with a few back up WRs. Well mostly Dorsey, not sure what DA was doing. Maybe going over plays, I dunno, but he mostly just watched, threw a pass here or there.
Quinn spent at least a half an hour after practice throwing with Sanders. I read that those 2 spend a lot of time after practice with each other on the field.
DA - from what I saw, his throws seemed to be on the mark. He completed most of what I watched of him. He made a great throw to Winslow for a TD downfield. He also was hitting everything short, which is a big plus for me. I did notice him twice hold on the ball for a while. One was to Braylon. Braylon looked open, but by the time he threw it, Braylon was covered and the pass was broken up. I also saw him throw a pick in the back of the endzone into what looked like heavy traffic. Overall, he looked pretty good.
Quinn - someone earlier in this thread ( I thought it was this one) said his balls were wobbly, not real tight. Not sure what's up iwth that, but everything I saw from him was nothing but a tight spiral. I saw him throw a couple poor passes low to the reciever. Saw him throw an absolute perfect pass to Harrison for a TD. Harrison came out of the backfield and up the sidelines. Quinn hit him perfectly, didn't even break stride, and went in untouched for 6. I did see him throw a pick I believe to McDonald, but wasn't able to see what happened. He seemed to get off the snap well, very fluid, seemed to make quick decisions.
He was throwing on the run real well when he was practicing over on our field. We look to be in great shape.
8. Jamal Lewis threw a TD pass to Kellen. 
Toss right, ran out, then put one in Kellen's lap. It was a little bit of a rainbow, but Kellen was so wide open, it didn't matter. Kept both feet in on the side of the endzone for 6. The crowd got a kick outtta that one.
9. Gary Baxter was working as a safety as expected. Didn't focus much on him, but he didn't look like he had any problems. Ran well, smoothly. Good for him.
10. Wanted to check out our WR situation, but couldn't see much from our spot. I do not that I personally didn't see a drop, which is a good thing. Someone, I think Steptoe, made a nice sliding catch of a Quinn pass on the sideline on what looked to be an out route. Braylon made a heckuva grab. K2 snagged balls effortlessly from the automatic ball thrower (can't think of the technical name of it). That's about it.
11. Zastudil was booming the ball. Not much else to say about it. 
That's about all I can think of off the top of my head. My first post got booted since it took me too long, so I think I forgot some stuff. Got to score autographs from Wimbley and Dorsey (tempted to sneak in a "go Bucks" but didn't ) Also, Quinn gave into the constantly call of the crowd and signed for about 10 minutes. The girl I was with was right in front of him, and I was a little bit down when personnel pulled him back insde. Oh well.

On my way home for the Indians game last night I drove by the training facility only to see that around 10:40 Joe Thomas leaving with hardly any more cars in the parking lot. He even stopped to sign some autographs for some kids who had obviously been hanging around the front entrance for players to leave.

Day 7 of Training Camp

- No new news on the injured group of Steve Heiden, Corey Williams, Kevin Kasper, Seth McKinney, and Lawrence Vickers. All worked out with trainers.
- Coach Crennel also gave Kellen Winslow and Shaun Rogers the day off to keep them fresh.
- Usually with injuries in camp you worry a bit, but Crennel has made the injuries seem minimal. He has said that for the most part that the injuries are just the regular bumps and bruises that happen in camp.
- A weird scheduling quirk has the Browns playing one game over the next 20 days. But the coaching staff likes this as they feel that the layoff will help prepare them for their goofy regular season schedule.
- The team may have 20 days with one game, but will wrap the preseason with 3 games in 11 days.
- Crennel and staff want to prepare the team for the odd quirks in the regular season by allowing them to find the best way to be prepared regardless when, where, and what time a game is set for.
- Tuesday’s practice was basically Josh Cribbs day, as the offense rolled out many of the new tricks that they will incorporate this season with Cribbs.
- As one writer said to me after about the 7th different gadget play of the day with Cribbs, “this is the reason Chudzinski has bags under his eyes.”
- It will be interesting to see how much Cribbs will be used this season with the gadget plays. He had everything from direct snaps, reverses, fake reverses, him throwing passes, but my favorite had to be Cribbs in motion gets a reverse hand off and basically he ran the option play with Donte Stallworth trailing him. Look out NFL, Cribbs in open space with a trailer could be scary.
- Cribbs came into camp weighing 230, with it all muscle in his upper body, but in just a week he has already dropped 8-10 pounds.
- The Browns ended the team session of practice after Cribbs caught a perfect spiral over the middle from Brady Quinn and then Cribbs out run the secondary for 6. It was actually practice time for the 2 minute offense, but if you score on the first play who can complain?

Training Camp - July 31 - Wait a Sec on Brady Quinn

Another hot and sultry day - reminiscent of summer days in the great state of Alabama - out at Berea today.
Just when Coach Romeo Crennel offers some praise for Brady Quinn, the Cleveland Browns second string quarterback goes out and has - shall we say - an uneven day. Looking at Quinn in the team's lone practice today it was obvious that the passer wasn't accurate on deep routes today, often overthrowing the ball.
Some of that can be attributed to blanket-like coverage of the Browns DBs on some occasions, but Quinn, for whatever reason, was off. To his credit, however, he spent a significant amount of time after practice throwing balls to a member of the Browns staff. Might he be pushing? Possibly.
But Quinn needs to learn something right now: for the time being, this isn't his team. No matter how much he and his legions of fans want it, it's not happening this year unless starter Derek Anderson starts to look like Spurgeon Wynn.
Speaking of Mr. Anderson….With wide receiver Donte Stallworth able to go full speed after a slight hamstring issue, he and Anderson seem to be developing the all-important sense of timing and chemistry. Anderson hit Stallworth on a nice bomb that the receiver laid out for drawing some serious applause from fans in attendance. Yes, it was that impressive.
That would be one of the few times that Browns defensive backs would get burned all day, however. For the most part they attacked the ball, slapping passes away and creating turnovers. Corner brothers Eric Wright and Brandon McDonald, the season's likely starters, draped themselves on receivers. McDonald had one sweet interception and dropped another. Wright proved consistent throughout.
Right now, McDonald's play gives Browns' management reason to hope that they won't end up with egg on their face for trading cornerback Leigh Bodden during the offseason. Of course, looking good in practice and in playing situations are two different situations.

CAMPER OF THE DAY: Brad Cieslak is not the first name that comes to mind when thinking of Browns tight ends. But he's a hard worker who is trying to take the advantage of the additional reps he's getting in the continued absence of Steve Heiden because of a knee injury. He made probably the best catch of the day when he leaped to grab a pass from Ken Dorsey in the back right corner of the end zone. Brady Quinn and Cieslak also connected on a long one down the middle. Plays like that really help his cause.

JUST VISITING: Ricky Powers, who played briefly with the Browns in 1994 and '95, took in practice with his Akron (Ohio) Buchtel High School football team. He's not teaching them just football, but also about life. He's a mentor to many of those boys. He was one of the top running backs in the country while playing at Buchtel in the late 1980s, coming out the same year that Robert Smith came out of Euclid (Ohio) High. Powers went to Michigan, and Smith went to Ohio State. ... With the Arena Football League season over, Cleveland Gladiators president and CEO -- and former Browns quarterback -- Bernie Kosar has been stopping out at practice from time to time. He was there on Thursday. ... ESPN's Chris Mortensen, who has been tracking the Brett Favre saga, was there as well. ... Dan "Mad Rad" Radalovich, the animated Browns offensive line coach from 20 years ago, was a spectator.

from these accounts of the day it sounds like BQ did pretty good and DA suffered a bad day.
Who knows and who cares as long as the bad days don't grow worse and overall both show steady improvement. Its just practice. Some days are better than others.

There's a vid on the home page... from a quick glance, it looked like the O had a great day. BE, Stallworth, Wilson, Harrison, Cribbs all stood out. Cribbs ran the ball, looked like a reverse, made a nice gain. Wright picked off BQ down by the goal line.

Day 12 of Training Camp
Sunday 08-03-2008 5:56pm ET
- The Browns returned to practice after their first off day on Saturday with a new focus of preparing to actually play another team.
- The good news was that Corey Williams, Kevin Kasper, and Lawrence Vickers all returned from injury but where held back in team drills.
- Many have speculated about Williams shoulder injury but from everything I’ve gathered he is fine and the team just wants him ready for the opener against Dallas.
- With Kasper back it’s a big week for him and Travis Wilson. Kasper seemed to have a nice grip on the 3rd wide out until he hurt his hamstring. Since then Wilson has really taken off by catching everything in site. Should be fun to watch these two compete the next few weeks.
- On the bad side Kellen Winslow and Josh Cribbs both sat out practice with sore hamstrings, doesn’t sound serious at this point. And with as much as Cribbs does he deserves a practice off here and there.
- Gary Baxter did practice a little but his knees are still sore.
- Antwan Peek’s surgery went well and the team still has him returning for week 1.
- Crennel thought family night was a success with his young players having the opportunity to play in front of a crowd with the bright lights on them.
- The Browns have there only two a day of the week Monday morning starting at 8:45.

I'm sure he'll be OK physically, but I'm more concerned with all the reps he's been missing in camp. From what I've read he hasn't grasped his new role in the 3-4 as well as anticipated. I hope like hell he's been spending alot of time in the film room.
