As I type this, I'm sitting in a room in Akron Children's Hospital, listening to monitors that are hooked up to my baby. She's been feverish for 6 days, seen a doctor twice and been to the ER twice in that time. After a few mis-diagnosis, we finally think we have the correct treatment for my little girl.
She had a sinus infection that developed into "preorbital ocular cellulitis" Basically, she has a big old puss ball in/near her left sinus. It caused swelling in her face, fevers, lack of sleep, appetite etc.
We're here for probably 2 nights...

Thanks all! Anna's at least had some good sleep since about 6 last night. Mommy, on the other hand, has still only had 3 hours. The swelling on the left side of her face hasn't gone down yet, but at least it hasn't gotten worse.
On the good side, she's sucking down juice like it's going out of style and she even ate a cookie. Definitely a step in the right direction. She'd been pushing everything away.

aww man.. sorry to hear that ur little one is going through so much.. Sinus infections, or anything related to sinuses are no joke.. I can speak from experience.

Thanks all for your continued thoughts and prayers. Anna must be doing better, she just wants to get the hell outta here now. It's all I can do to keep her in the room. She's tried escaping a couple times and ended up disconnecting herself from her monitors (heart/pulse etc) and her fluids bag.
Swelling has gone down enough in her left eye that she can now see out of it and keep it open. Whereas before, she could barely squint with it it was swollen so shut. Only slight fevers today, but those are because her body is still fighting this infection and they haven't gotten above 101 today. Whew!
We're going to be at least one more night, if not 2...let's hope it's just one night. PLEASE! We all need to sleep in our own beds and have freedom of movement.

No official word yet, but we SHOULD be getting out of here today. They took off all of the heart/pulse/breathing monitors as well as the fluids bag. We've had some freedom of movement because of that and have taken her on several walks around the floor here at the hospital. She loves it...there's a fish tank and some random toys at various spots around the floor. So we walk a little, play a little.
Her personality is back to normal but she flips out whenever a doctor or nurse comes into the room. Can ya blame her? She been poked and proded so much over the past week.
The swelling in her face went down much quicker than even the doctors anticipated and the redness is fading as well. She's had some congestion, but I think even that's clearing up as well. She's breathing clearly right now.
Just hoping the doc comes in soon and says she can go home today.
Thank you everyone for your thoughts and prayers. I really appreciate it.

I want to thank you all for your thoughts and prayers during this stressful time. Anna came home Thursday evening and other than when I have to give her antibiotics, she's back to normal. Her left eyes is still a little red, but that's better than it was.
