#1, I would have Luck learning and starting from the moment he arrived in Cleveland.
I would find a RT either in the draft or in free agency. I sincerely believe that we could find one in the 3rd-4th round who could start day 1.
I would find a WR in free agency, and probably draft one in the 2nd/3rd. I would look for a RB in that same range.
I would then go play football.
I would fill holes on the defense with the rest of the draft, and free agency. I would be, in essence, giving up 1 pick this year, (because I would still be picking in the 1st) so I would not be giving up picks all over the place. 1 pick next year is not a big, let alone huge, price to pay for a franchise guy.
I understand that you think that you must have great players everywhere before you can judge a QB. I disagree. I use the example of a moderately talented DA taking over for Charlie Frye, and all of a sudden our "crappy" OL looked pretty damn good. If you don't have a QB. you have a hard time judging a lot of the rest of your offense. Some QBs can be just good enough that they don't hinder the rest of the offense, but they also don't bring anything special. Other QBs can bring the rest of the offense down to their level. I think that McCoy (and Wallace) are somewhere in between these 2 categories. I believe that we can improve a lot by improving the QB. You disagree. That's your right.
