Watched the Indiana game yesterday.

Conner Cook was really good. He is an accurate, smart, tough quarterback.

This year I have made it a point to watch Cook play. Every game he has been impressive. It is not just the completions or highlights. It is the decisions he makes. When to throw away the ball. When to run and slide.

Michigan State is not a great team. Their OL is not very good. They can't run the ball. They don't have great receivers. Yet they are undefeated. It is all Cook.

I would love to have him become a Cleveland Brown.

He made some really really nice throws yesterday. Throwing with anticipation, accurately into tight coverage, with pressure in his face. I've watched him a fair amount over the past year and a half but last night some of his throws really impressed me. The definition of 'throwing receivers open'.
Sadly the Browns will be just good enough to not have a chance at drafting him.

Yeah, I watched MSU again yesterday - and as much as I didn't see him being worthy of a first rounder last year, he certainly is now. I still think Goff will be the first QB chosen in the draft, but cook will be top 10 - likely top 5 depending on draft order. He was quite impressive yesterday overall, and has been most of the season.

Agree 100%. I didn't like him very much last year but he has definitely shown improvement.

MSU's bowl victory over Baylor convinced me that Cook is a guy I'd like the Browns to take. If you get a chance, check out the highlights of that game on Youtube. His game-winning TD pass at the end of the game reminded me of Dan Marino. The arm came up, and the ball was out; faster release than you can imagine. I think he might be "special".

Cook's release is ridiculously fast.

My issue with him last year (I haven't seen enough this year to know for sure but what I have seen he is getting better) is his tendency to throw the ball high.

My suggestion is to go to

http://draftbreakdown.com/video/connor-cook-vs-baylor-2014/

Look at at all his passes. Pay particular attention to how often his receiver jumps to catch the ball, even when wide open.

I've come around on Cook. The measurables scream AFC North. Arm strength is good. Character is high. I'd be more than OK if they decided to try and draft him with their most likely very high fist round pick. Depending on the team, he could end up going first. I think any of these guys could be the first QB taken.

Cook just seems a lot more grown up and polished than Hackenburg, who has a lot of the same measurements. Hackenburg throws a nice ball as well, but he just seems confused a hell of a lot more (also because his coach is horrible)

I did not think we would be in position to draft the best QB in this year's draft. It looks like we will be. Things are about to go south, fast.

You know I respect you, but I really wish you would have put this in the existing QB thread. Too many good points get lost when we have multiple threads on one subject.

I watched Cook last year and while I saw a lot of good things, I thought his accuracy was poor. I think it was Dave who mentioned him throwing too high a lot. That's true.

His accuracy has been better this year. I'll continue to monitor it.

Vers, I thought this is where this type of thread goes.

What QB thread are you referring too?

When I have put this type of thread in Pure Football Forum they take it down.

I have watched almost all of Cook this year. I never saw him last year. I only look at guys who most likely will come out. Although I have seen Rosen of UCLA because of the games he has been in. He should be something in a few years.

I have watched Goff as well. Actually they seem similar. Cook is a bit thicker. Really like the maturity of Cook.

Bone, he's referring to the thread "College QBs to Watch" in this forum which has been active for a few weeks now, and where we have been discussing several QBs including Cook.

Wasn't the intention of that thread to discuss lesser known prospects?

Originally yes, but it appears to have expanded, and all college QBs fall under the scope of the thread name, so it makes sense.

But you're right, I should have let Vers answer Bone's question.

My bad. I started a thread about Cook quite awhile ago when it came out that the Browns were high on him. "Browns interest in Conner Cook".

My last post was: "Had a chance to watch some college games this Saturday.

Saw Conner Cook and Jared Goff. Funny but they seem similar. Both played very well.

What I like is their maturity in the pocket. Both show patience. Both show they can deliver the ball while facing pressure. That is a big deal in my book.

Neither guy is in the same category as Mariota as far as speed but both can move. They are pocket guys. They have enough agility to escape some pressure but they never lose sight of downfield.

I remember when I saw Andrew Luck the first time. Just blown away. It was not just the successful plays. It was the way he did things. Footwork, ball handling, athleticism etc. The best college quarterback I have ever seen.

Cook and Goff are both good looking prospects. I will continue to watch them.

I will try to get to the top five prospects.

Hopefully come the 2016 draft our future will be there.
