The Army National Guard's 192nd Engineer Battalion. to support Operation Freedom’s Sentinel. The team will help oversee clearing roads of everything from trees to explosives, making it safer for others to pass.  Good luck guys.  Don’t take any wooden Afghani.

we used to roast the national guard/reserve soldiers when they showed up in the sandbox. overweight, complaining about the heat, the way they wore their uniforms always reminded us active duty guys of some little kids who's wearing their dads uniform haha.

Guard and Reserve units have made up almost half of all troops deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan, and they have taken almost 20% of all casualties.
They deserve our respect for their service, just as all those serving do.

They deserve our respect for their service, just as all those serving do. Truth. Razzing between branches has always been a thing, so Swish's comments get a pass. But these men and women serve the same as any other branch. Respect.

thats fine.
but it doesnt change the fact they often showed up out of weight in out of regs. being active, we saw a lot of them who clearly didnt look to be able to pass a PT test.
you can be a civilian and respect them. i do too. but i also respect the basic standards of being a soldier. something that isn't that quite as emphasized from what i've seen downrange.
the standard is the standard, regardless of how many casualties they've sustained.

well command can try to enforce it, but its still on the soldier to be in shape when not at drill. planet fitness is 20 a month.
