Cousins getting paid the big bucks, people being hard on him is his burden to shoulder.

I don't think Cousins is great, but I do think he is better than Keenum.

I think Minni's problems this year are:

1. OL is not playing well
2. Defense is not as dominant as last year
3. Flip relied on the pass too much
4. Cousins is not a superstar qb.

Bill B knows this is a huge week .. they will not want to go on the road in the playoffs until the AFC title game

"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

$84 Million guaranteed for a 7-9 QB with 8 TDs & 5 INTs in his last 5 games. Vikes deserve what they get.

I remember that there were a LOT of folks around here that were ready to sell the farm for Cousins, lol... I am sooo glad that we didn't.

The Charger Chiefs game represents a contrast with their quarterbacks.

Rivers who I followed during college is a
unique quarterback.

Probably has one the weakest arms in the game. He has always pushed the ball. He is dependent upon timing not velocity. He releases the ball really early to compensate for a weak arm. But one should never assume the ball will not be accurate.

He can throw the long ball but puts lots of air under it. Never do you see a rope throw. But once again the ball will be on target.

He is a pocket quarterback. Extremely slow to get going and move. But he will move in the pocket.

Smart. You are not fooling Rivers. He will find the go to target. Leader. He is a driving force on the field. Controls the huddle and is like a coach on the field. He came that way out of college.

Then there is Mahomes. This guy does things I have never seen even attempted by anyone. I am going to try to find in archives my first take on Mahomes when he was in the draft.

People are gushing about him and rightfully so. This guy is an incredible athlete. Super arm. He can move and fire like nobody's business. Plays quarterback like a shortstop.

Different arm angles. Different arms. The play is never over with him. You watch him play a game and you are bound to see something you have never seen before.

The game played out almost to a script.

Great entertainment.

Went back in archives to 2017 and the draft.

So funny to read what people wrote about Mahomes now.

This is what I wrote:

"Mahomes is a contrast of talent. He has many things you look for as far as size and arm strength.
He displays characteristics that you like and don't like. He can put a throw right on the money and miss a throw that is a lay up.

But I like this guy. He is the type that could really thrive with the right coaching. Most of what he does wrong is correctable. What he does right comes from inside. This young man plays to win. In many ways he reminds me of Farve. He is undisciplined in his mechanics and footwork. But super confident in his ability to make plays. Love his competitive drive and leadership quality.

He will need time. Coming from the offense he played under and just where he is in development. It will require time to form his NFL game.

He is a good option for the Browns as a second rounder. He has the potential to be every bit as good as the top three ranked guys in this draft."

hey, what did you say about trubisky vs watson?

Most of the Board hated Mahomes.

Saw him as a fourth rounder. Most no interest in him.

We all know you wanted Trubisky over Watson and thought Watson was trash.

Man, I was dead wrong about Mahomes. I said I couldn't understand all the love he was getting because I thought he was inaccurate.

That turned out be a very poor analysis.

This is what I found regarding those two guys.

"For the sake of argument let's say Garoppolo is not available.

Let's also say that no quarterback is taken 1 to 11 and we took Garrett at number one.

So here we are at 12 with the pick of the quarterback litter.

Forget any other position for the moment.

What quarterback do you want at number 12?

For me under those circumstances it comes down to Trubisky and Watson.

I have to go with Trubisky. The reasons are:

Although athletic and having displayed good movement in the pocket and shown that he can run. Trubisky is a pocket passer. He is a throw first guy.

He also is in my mind the most accurate guy in the draft. In addition he has shown that he can pick up secondary receivers. The whole thing about 12 starts is concerning but what can you do? He played well in 12 games. I think he would continue to play well if he played in more games.

Although there are many qualities about Watson that I like. The NFL has proven that pocket passers live to pass another day; running quarterbacks don't live to run another day.

Running is part of Watson's game. There is no way that all of a sudden he becomes a pocket passer only. If Cam Newton with his size can not stay on the field I doubt that Watson can.

Watson can throw the ball. He is also a leader. I do not want to undermine what he has done. He has had a terrific college career. And I would not say that he can not succeed in the NFL. But when it comes to accuracy. Trubisky is more accurate.

I could go through all the criteria that makes up a quarterback but for the sake of brevity this is it.

Trubisky fits the mold of guys who are successful in the NFL."

I was not going to mention names but that is why I like you.

You always own up to what you said.

In reading the archives tab hated him as well along with most.

You know I remember thinking Trent Richardson was the bomb.

That tape of him hitting the bag with a Browns guy behind it.

TR just looked like a sure thing. So powerful. Nobody is always right. Hell look at who the Browns have drafted.

With QB's I stand behind what I wrote at the time. There was no question about Watson as a leader. He played out of sight on the biggest stages.

But he was not a consistently accurate quarterback. And him running? Already a problem. He still takes way to many hits.

He is a good player and a good quarterback.

Always remember this YTown proverb:

He who makes many bold predictions and proclamations will also be boldly dead wrong about half the time. wink

I know I have been.

Micah 6:8; He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.

I didn't know diddly about Mahomes from the draft. If I had an opinion it was from viewing stats but I didn't really know of him to comment with any authority. I usually say something to that effect if I stated an opinion.

The kid is great. In the long run I will take Baker. Got to remember we are comparing year two of Mahomes to year one of Baker. Rivers has always been a great QB. Chargers got the deal giving up Eli for Rivers plus.

I know he has a very unique throwing style but he doesn't have a weak arm. His touch is amazing. Cannot believe the Chargers won that game. Mahomes did show a chink in that armor. But he is an incredible talent. So so good on the move. Problem is he is more apt to become damaged goods just like Wentz, RG3 and I thought Watson but he is overcoming his injury pretty well. Wentz getting there but now where close to what he was prior to the injury.
