Hard to imagine how someone other than Rami Malek could play Freddie Mercury. After watching for a short while I just accepted him as Freddie Mercury.
Lots of live music scenes. And of course Freddie's complicated life.
In the end what is left is the music.
No band besides Queen involved the audience more in their performances. Queen music is the standard for Ball Parks, commercials, and movies as the prop.
Nobody will ever forget the scene from Wayne's World.
Hopefully some day the Browns will have all of us singing "We Are the Champions."
At one point Sacha Baron Cohen was going to play Freddie. I think he’d have killed it too. I haven’t seen it yet. I heard it was good but not great. Some compared it to a really well made made for TV movie. I heard that, as a film, Rocket Man was the better biopic. ...I haven’t see that either.
I have total respect for Mercury and what the band achieved, but they never worked for me. I have a couple of their albums...but honestly, I never play them. Respect, for sure tho.
That said, I will gladly and drunkenly sing "We Are The Champions" very loudly when the Browns win the Super Bowl!
Saw it a couple of months ago.... loved it! The guy who played Freddy was perfect, the one who played Brian May was a dead ringer for him.
They somewhat messed up bits of the chonology, but that's ok, it didn't ruin it at all. Good movie, moved fast, and the Live Aid depiction at Wembley Stadium was awesome.... The scene with Mike Myers was really funny!
I really liked the movie. I was disappointed that they focused very little on the songs from their early career. I saw them in '76 and '77, both times front row center at the Toledo Sports Arena. They rocked the frickin' house back then. There's a site that actually has the setlists from both of those shows, and you can go on Youtube and find live videos of most of those songs from those tours. Here's one:

I preferred Bohemian Rhapsody to Rocket Man and watching that live aid concert again still makes me smile. I generally don’t care for live music but Queen was special in that regard.

I was really looking forward to Bohemian Rhapsody, so I ordered that up PPV, ASAP.
I much prefer their music over Elton John's - not enough guitar for this cat, esp. compared to Queen - and i also find band dynamics interesting.
I have almost no interest in seeing rocket man. If it's on my television for free someday, I'd watch it. I like SOME of his music, but don't find him that compelling as a personality.
Queen 1 thru Sheer Heart Attack (their 3rd) were all fantastic. They were right in the mix of my listening rotation when I was really getting into music.

Freddie Mercury was a rare talent, but May and Roger Taylor were vital, as well. Even the bass player (no offence to bass players lol) contributed. His bass riff jump-started "another one bites the dust".
Edit: I knew I was spelling Freddie wrong!! Thanks bone...

Each band member wrote at least 4 hit songs. Even the drummer!

Yep. "I'm In Love With My Car", lol. (Inside joke if you saw the movie).

My friends and I would have weekend movie parties, and rent a bunch movies and get a bunch of beer. We were all fans of Queen the night we rented Highlander, which none of us had seen before. That was one of the greatest musical openers we'd ever seen in a movie.
