Hopefully Freddie will run the ball with Chubb and Hunt.
No trick plays or having Baker throw 35 times.
No empty backfield which not only takes away play action but also leaves Baker with no blocker on pass pro.
Every point is huge as I don't think Pittsburgh can score 17 on us.
If we have the lead Freddie needs to call plays like we are ahead not behind.
Pittsburgh is going to want to run the ball to take pressure off their young QB so field position will be huge. Don't give them a short field.
The only way Pittsburgh can beat us is if we beat ourselves.

I just want a winner. We need players who can be part of the solution not part of the problem.

All valid points.

Hopefully Vernon plays. Even though Duck has not played much we can not afford to sit back and allow him time in the pocket. That is how we lost the Denver game.

The first two downs on defense will be important. They will try to run on us. Get them in third and long. Then mix looks and bring pressure or drop from pre-snap looks.

On offense we are starting to find our stride. Keep it up.
Use Chubb and Hunt. then pass off play action.

Jarvis and Odell can not be covered by the Steeler DB's over the course of the game. There should be some plays that become available.

Score 24+ should be enough.

Game plan?? Playoffs?? Playoffs?? Game Plan??

1. Hand off ball, run ball until stopped.
2. Play action with ball and throw ball to play maker.
3. Find opposing qb and put him with ball under turf.

Geezzzzzzzzzzzzzzz...

This isn't rocket science.

Baker could give us all an early Christmas and drop 50 points on the Steelers. That sounds like a good game plan.

Tensions will be high, refs will need to maintain control. I imagine we will be playing against the refs too. Need a disciplined game.

- No turnovers
- Win first downs on defense
- Be effective in red zone situations

"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

Wishbone aside, new wrinkles may be in store with Browns’ Kareem Hunt-Nick Chubb package

https://www.beaconjournal.com/sports/201...k-chubb-package

Browns coach Freddie Kitchens is talking about the wishbone again and, as he proved last November against the Atlanta Falcons, he may not be joking.

Whether or not Kitchens employs the throwback college formation from the 1970s and ’80s with the team’s playoff hopes on the line, his creative juices have to be flowing with Kareem Hunt and Nick Chubb in the backfield.

Going into Sunday’s rematch with the Pittsburgh Steelers at Heinz Field, the Browns are 3-0 since Hunt joined the team Nov. 10 at home against the Buffalo Bills after serving an eight-game league suspension for violating its personal conduct policy.

The 2017 NFL rushing champion as a rookie with the Kansas City Chiefs, Hunt wouldn’t comment on whether that record is a coincidence. But the addition of Hunt to an offense that already has Chubb, second in the league in rushing this week with 1,117 yards, has provided a spark. A unit that lacked rhythm when the Browns started 2-6 has looked sharper and more aggressive.

Some of that could be the improved play of quarterback Baker Mayfield. But Kitchens gave Hunt some credit, as well.

“I think Kareem has had a tremendous impact from the standpoint of showing how unselfish he is and then once he has the ball in his hands showing how explosive he can be,” Kitchens said during a conference call Monday. “You always have to account for where he is, and I think that opens up other guys, so I think he has been a tremendous asset.”

Statistically, the numbers haven’t jumped much. The Browns averaged 346 yards per game without Hunt, 376 with him. Their rushing yards per game have jumped from 121 to 132.7. Perhaps the most noticeable difference has come on third down, with the Browns converting 30.6 percent in the first eight games, and 40 percent in the last three with Hunt largely serving as the third-down back.

Center JC Tretter said opponents may not have seen all the Browns can do with Hunt and Chubb.

“They both are similar backs, they do a lot of great things, but they’re versatile,” Tretter said in a Monday conference call. “We can do a bunch of different things with them, we can use them both on the field at the same time and that’s been a nice little package for us since Kareem got back.

“I think we’re still growing the package and we’re still moving him around and finding the best place to put each of ’em. It’s a good problem to have. It’s something that we enjoy trying to get both those guys involved and get them opportunities and get them rolling.”

There was excitement in Tretter’s voice, and Kitchens feels it, too.

“Yeah, I think they are [excited] and I am excited,” he said. “You only have so many plays in a game, so some things get carried over from week to week. We have not gotten the wishbone package out there yet, four backs in the backfield at the same time and all of that kind of stuff. Hopefully, we can get it called this week.”

The Browns don’t have a true fullback on the roster for that wishbone, but rookie tight end Stephen Carlson or Hunt, who has surprised some with his blocking in the three games, might be called upon.

Adding to the sense that there could be more wrinkles to come is that both Chubb and Hunt are effective receivers. Chubb has caught 30 passes for 224 yards (7.5 average), Hunt 15 for 99 yards (6.6). In Sunday’s 41-24 home victory over the Miami Dolphins, the Browns turned the tables and used Chubb more in the passing game. He caught three passes for 58 yards, including a 32-yard screen on the opening play, and Hunt caught two for 9 yards.

Asked if Chubb’s receiving skill adds to the untapped potential of the two-man backfield, Hunt said Sunday: “You never know. Now they’ve got to keep an eye, watch out, he’s sneaky now. He’s sneaky. Keep an eye.”

Before they faced the Dolphins, Chubb said he and Hunt were just getting started. Chubb went on to rush for 106 yards and Hunt 37 against Miami.

“The sky’s the limit with what we can do with us in the backfield and on the field at the same time,” Chubb said on Nov. 20. “I just look forward to each week, going out there and playing with another great player.”

Chubb noted that the Steelers schemed for the Hunt/Chubb package “and did some good things against it” in the Nov. 14 game in Cleveland, won by the Browns 21-7. But Chubb said the running back combination has also helped the passing game.

“I’m not sure exactly what it was, but when you have Kareem, who can run routes so well and catch the ball well out of the backfield, it’s a mismatch with him on linebackers and things like that,” Chubb said on Nov. 20. “That’s probably the biggest thing, a great receiver coming out of the backfield, as in Kareem, going against guys who can’t cover him.”

Game plan? A run 1st O. Use play action off that and some passes to Hunt out of backfield and a little as a flanker. Quick slants to JL and OBJ. Mix in a long pass a couple of times when they don't expect it. This should help us keep the ball and move the chains.

I'll say it now...

If we have tough off-season decisions to make, I trade away OBJ, keep Higgins, and pay Hunt.

Keep your head on straight and maintain composure..

There is going to be a lot of jawwing and poking and instigating going on because tensions are high... Don't be the guy (or the team) that loses composure, the refs will be looking for any reason to penalize or toss people.

Other than that, just don't make big mistakes that give them points and we will win the game.

No way. Higgins should have had his arse cut weeks ago.

the guy flatout REFUSED to play in the SeaHawks game(A game we could have won with him that was a close game.)

https://heavy.com/sports/2019/11/browns-rashard-higgins-refused-to-play/

OBJ Contract is actually fairly friendly, We still got plenty of cap space. We should be extending both Chubb and Hunt, and allowing Vernon to walk. We can get a replacement for Vernon in the draft.

Nick Chubb has join Jim Brown, OJ Simpson, and Barry Sanders in the 1000+ yard club and averaging over 5 yards per carry. He is elite, no way he can be allowed to leave period.

Extend Chubb, and Extend Hunt. Hunt WANTS to be here so I don't think that will be a problem, all his friends and family are here so it makes sense. We will be OK with OBJ and Landry for a few more seasons.

Mayfield will still ahve two years left on his rookie deal, I wouldn't even start talking a new contract wth him until after next season. So we should be just fine.

We gotta extend Garret too, outside of one lapse in judgement he has been the best pass rusher in the NFL since 2017. Gotta extend him too. In our current cap situation though that won't be a problem at all.

You are paranoid. What are the chances of that happening. It is a fair and perfect world full of sweetness and light.

What could possibly go wrong?

the game plan is simple.

we mop the stadium with pittsburgh's blood, enslave their women and children, and proclaim the city of pittsburgh as cleveland territory!!!!

As bad as Robinson can be sometimes, baker will be under constant pressure without him. Forget the damn shotgun offense. Run the ball, quick passes and screens. Otherwise wyatt will have a field day

Weather for game is 90% chance of rain.

Steady rain in the morning then showers in the afternoon.

Fumble game.

I hope Freddie is preparing the offense with those conditions in mind.

Practice with wet footballs. Practice outside. Anything to simulate Sunday game conditions.

This can be a win for the Browns, a smackdown for the and their mothers, and a victory for us over the NFL, officials, and whatever else we can think up.

Getting my broom ready. thumbsup
