I was at this game. It was depressing. I wish I didn't go.

I went with my brother, who is a Cardinals fan, I kept telling him that there was no way we could stop Kyler Murray when he ran the ball. He was doing whatever he wanted.

I didn't see many open receivers.

For the most part it seemed like the players on offense were giving good effort.

I think the defense was trying we just lack talent on the defensive line at this point in the season.

There were a ton of Browns fans at the game. At the airport on Monday I kept running into more Browns fans and we all just looked at each other depressingly. One guy told me, "We showed up and they didn't."

If I remember more stuff I will post it. It was not a fun experience.

That sucks man.....

Was Murray impressive in real time?

He was teeny but also was obviously the most athletic player on the field.

This is what I was seeing.
I don't think people fully appreciate just how much it impacts us not having Garrett and Vernon. Even though folks were (wrongly) getting on Vernon for a perceived lack out production, they simply weren't seeing his impact on setting edges and causing pressures.

Now, we're running a defense predicated on creating pressure and we cannot do it even remotely consistently. We can't control the edges and we cannot fill gaps.

<insert obligatory Ned Stark image>
One does not simply replace that level of talent on both sides with backups and practice squad guys.

Sorry but you have to be on the field to be missed by anybody.

He might come close to being an urban legend, like Courtney brown.

He played well until he got hurt. In his last game (Pitt2), he was only healthy enough to get 18% of the snaps.

Don't get me wrong, losing Garrett is the FAR bigger loss, but losing Vernon, too, is absolutely not helping matters and it is talent we can't replace... "next man up" doesn't cut it.

I absolutely agree with you about the next man up cliche. There’s a reason some guys start and some guys are career backups.

I’m just saying that Vernon trade so far has been disappointing, amongst many disappointments.

One thing that happened that was crazy:

Before the game started my brother and I went down close to the Cardinals bench because he wanted to take some pictures. Larry Fitzgerald was playing catch with some guy in the stands. They completed one throw successfully. On the second throw Fitzgerald threw the ball back, it went straight through the dude’s hands and hit some lady square in the face. She took it like a champ even though it had to have hurt.

I think Vernon has done ok. Having said that my impression of what we were supposed to get was a sack guy, someone who had potential and ability that wasn’t being fully realized. The lack of numbers is disappointing in that context. Now some may point out that he has done a pretty good job of getting pressure. That may be true, but in THAT context I think he falls victim to the fact that we’ve seen countless guys play that position and be ‘almost a sack’ guys. What we’ve seen from him is something we’ve seen a few times already (Ogbah, Sheard) and so what Vernon is doing well doesn’t seem all that impressive.

Some guy in Cleveland: "I can't stand this stupid team. I'm going outside to take a break."

"Argh! It's cold, snowy, and miserable. I wish I were in Arizona."

In all honesty, it sucks to make such a trip and have them lay an egg. Sorry you had to experience it. The team doesn’t deserve us

"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

Throwing together a mishmash of UDFAs with little knowledge of the scheme and minimal time together will do that.
