We probably should use a 2nd rounder on a safety in the draft.

Looks like we’re drafting a safety since we gave 1 year deals to both safeties we signed.

Davis from Cal? Come on down

"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

I think I'm in the minority, but I'm intrigued by Redwine. I actually thought he played well at times last year and flashed some long-term potential.

Hopefully, he can turn into something for us.

As of now, expect the Browns safety rotation next season to comprise Joseph, Sendejo and 2019 rookie Sheldrick Redwine

But don’t be surprised if the Browns draft a couple of safeties with 2 of their first 4-5 picks.

Is this guy now the oldest dude on the team?
I expect the draft to be heavily S, LB, & OL which of course probably means we’ll draft all long snappers and wide receivers.

Obviously we need some bodies back there, so this helps. He should help in the locker room as well, not a bad signing seems like a smart guy. And as others stated probably will grab a safety or two in the draft. Wouldn't mind Ashtyn Davis in round 3, and maybe Brandon Jones later in round 6...obviously if available

Give me Winfield Jr over Davis every time. Davis looks the part, but Winfield is the baller.

Safety is a lot about instincts. I don't see them as much from Davis. He looks more like the track guy that he is. Not a bad player, but more of a boom/bust guy. Won't have the physical advantage he regularly had in college as much in the league.

Could develop into a great safety, but we tend to land on the bust side when it looks like an option. Development hasn't been our forte.

I like what the FO is doing. The team made big-dollar commitments in the first phase of FA. When free agency officially opened you could see that the market for a lot of the better-known defenders at the positions the Browns were targeting would require significant overspending. They made the strategic decision to find productive players they could sign to short term contracts to fill the team's multiple holes. None of this prevents the team from pursuing any draft strategy they want. This includes when you draft a Safety or even LT.

I can see a scenario where the team does not draft an LT first. I don't want to derail this thread so I will probably post more on that in the draft forum.

As for Sendejo, his experience is worth quite a bit. He continues to play competitively, he is a better run defender than Redwine at this point. As draftees are brought on to the roster he can provide a needed verteran presence for a secondary that is very young.
It's another signing that does not damage our long-term cap position. Smart.

Oh my, Andrew Berry (AB) just violated several of Depodesta's "guideline"...

...signing a player who is over 30 yrs old...

...and violating the "don't pay for depth" belief.

I applaude both AB and Coach Stef for adding talent they believe in.

So you're saying that Depo isn't running the team?

Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

J/C. Very nice pick up at this point in FA. Veteran guy who was surrounded by studs and still managed to get a lot of run. Very versatile guy, can play single high and in the box. Another 1 year deal which keeps the costs right. I believe Joe Woods has a guy in mind and will bang the table next month to draft him.

There is no level of sucking we haven't seen; in fact, I'm pretty sure we hold the patents on a few levels of sucking NOBODY had seen until the past few years.

Are you talking about the 2016 guidelines? Those obviously wouldn't apply now and applied to a different phase of the rebuild...

I think part of the role of Sendejo and Joseph will be to mentor and teach the rookie S’s we’ll draft

With the installation of a new defensive system, it's always good to have veteran players who have played in that system.

Please show copy of those guidelines, or a link specifying those guidelines and signed by Depo. I am pretty sure everyone is on board in the Front office.

Yeah, I didn't realize 2.25M on a one year deal was "paying." I'm not even sure what the league minimum would be for him under the new CBA.
