Seriously, I get 4-5 scam phone calls a day. I know there scams but I play along.....until I don't. A lot of area codes 937's, 876's, 234's, 614's, plus a few others.

Just wonder if you play along or just hang up.

If you play along until you don't.....how, etc?

I don't answer if I don't knwo the number, unless I'm expecting a call from someone I don't have in my phone. Then I just hang up if it is a spam call, then immediately block the number.

There are a couple great apps out there that can tell you if it is suspected spam - they work better than the build in iPhone and Android (when I had an android) checker.

My grandfather would make sure to answer them when we were at his house.

I loved his sense of humor.

I used to answer them. Had an epic 20 minute conversation with a lady, perhaps 21, 22 years ago. She was selling siding - house siding.

I don't answer the calls anymore.

I had this young woman call me, obviously from another country. She spoke English, so I decided to talk to her. It was one of those truly BS calls ..... where they start out saying "Your computer called us" ..... and we spoke for about 15 minutes. I asked her to stop trying to steal from people, and then gave her the Gospel of Christ. She said that she was sorry, and would think about it. Who knows if it had any effect, or not.


I know how I am going to handle the next one. I'll say, "Excuse me for a moment" ..... set down the receiver, pull up a YouTube with the sound of gunshots, yell out "I told you to stop calling people! You will never call anyone ever again!", play the video ... and then get back on the phone and say "I'm sorry. This computer will never bother you ever again", and hang up.

Well, I'm a Grandpa as well. Guarantee he'd/he'll love this humor.

I'll act all serious and excited, and before I say "OK, SIGN ME UP" I'll ask, "Question....will I also receive a reacharound as well"? They'll ask, "what is a reacharound"? I then tell em. Most will laugh their butt off as their hanging up on me.

Most on here prob need to Google it.

I never answer a call if it's not a number in my contacts. If it is important, they can leave a message. I do add contact numbers for places like the vet, dog groomers, dentist, doctor's office, etc.

I usually answer, "FBI consumer complaints department. How may I help you?"

My wife will use her most unintelligible Scottish brogue, especially if the caller doesn't speak English well.

I love it if is a woman, but it doesn't really matter, I ask them what color underwear they are wearing, if wearing any at all.


You get this stunned silence for a few seconds. If you are lucky they say excuse me?, then you ask them again, then they hang up on you.

Try it, it is funny as heck. Turn it in to a reverse obscene phone call. They called you, you can't get in to trouble for that.
That isn't a threat. You just want information.

Right because sexual harassment is hilarious.

You find bias and racism and sexism in pretty much anything.

Occasionally I will answer: "Bob's Bowling, Bar, and Billiards". Elicits a chuckle or two...

Oh Brother,, I love the one that has a guy or gal, clearly from India, telling me they are the IT company that handles all my computer needs.

They tell me they need to log in to my computer..

I play along until they ask me for my IP address and I ask how I can get that. They say go to your computer and they'll give me instructions..

It's at this point I let them know that I don't have a computer.. LOL

As I see it, if they call me to harass me about a car warranty, computer help, a payment to the irs, or a bill I don't owe, I'm fully within my rights to harass them right back.

Liberals have no sense of humor.

Another 3 today. Well, so far.

One that said from Ohio, 2 that said from Nevada.

Didn't mess with em. Just let out nice deep, wholesome belches for em. You know, the kind you pump deep deep deep down and then release.

Then I rudely hung up on em.

Just get the Robokiller app. When it gets a hold of a live person, it can get quite humorous. It records the call for you and you constantly wonder how long those callers will be fooled.

I have a lot of fun with them and try to do my best to waste their time. The car warranty scammers are a but harder to lead on because most of them sound like they are stateside so they can pick up on the sarcasm and BS a lot quicker.

My favorite and the one I get most often are the ones who claim your 3rd party electricity provider has been overcharging you and they can help arrange a refund. They usually do have some sort of accent which makes me think they are not stateside.

They called me one day when I was out at the gun range for work. There were several people shooting in the background when he asked how my day was going. I replied "Well, I'm in the middle of a GD warzone waiting on my air support. How's ours?" Pause...click!

I'd love to pull a Tom Mabe though.

I'm also waiting for the DirectTV scammer to call back. I want to see how much of a deal they can get me on all the adult content... including the stuff they don't advertise or admit to carrying.
