I wish I'd have known beforehand; I'd have had my brother queue up the list on our radio station.

Looking at that list I thought there were quite a few AM hits that I hated back then, but there were 10-15 that I really liked. "Band Of Gold" by Freda Payne was my fave song back then. It also occurred to me that pretty soon after this was when I migrated over to FM Progressive/AOR on WMMS and WNCR (now gone).

Band of Gold was the first 45 I owned, to go with the new record player I got for my birthday that year.

The one that caught my eye was Gimmie Dat Ding. LOL That song was horrid.

Yeah, I hated that too, along with "Which Way You Going, Billy?", "Spill The Wine", and others. I was also surprised how many I don't remember at all.

Recently heard one of those songs for the first time and really seemed to like it, musically, consider it probably top 15 at the moment, you can just guess which one,
surprised it's 50, what year was that? 1970? aw cmon Casey Casems' gotta be older than that.

Yeah, Casey's quite a bit older than 50. He was born in 1932 and died in 2014.

"Mississippi Queen" still gets air time, so I'll guess that's the one you heard.

I don’t know or recognize many titles on that list ... maybe if i heard them

"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

I used to listen to it every Sunday late morning when it was replayed.

"Ride Captain Ride" is my favorite from the list.

There are 4 or 5 I don't recognize at all (Miguel Rios, The Poppy Family......)

I listen to music literally ALL the time. Sometimes one gets away from an artist or genre because something else grabs your interest in the near term. Seeing Stevie Wonder on this list just made me do a deep dive into his music again.

I know that was not your intent, but thank you.

I'm old enough to remember when he was "Little Stevie Wonder". I liked the Motown years best - "I Was Made To Love Her" was a great song.

I only recognize a few songs on that list, and I’ve got a pretty good memory for old Pop/rock.

Nice Memory Lane thread, Dave.

That wasn't the best year for music in my opinion, but there were some good ones on that list.

Loved the Stevie Wonder, CSNY, Four Tops, Temptations, Rare Earth songs.

I kind of miss how things were more simple back then. We weren't bombarded by media outlets. We would actually look forward to the countdown and curse if one of our favorite songs wasn't ranked as high as we thought it should be. Life seemed to more pure back then. Now, it's a convoluted mess because the media is out-of-hand in it's constant effort to stir-up controversy.
