Not a big fan of the Comic Book genre, but some was good. Always been a Hulk fan. I have always been a Kong fan. Nice take from Beauty and the Beast.

No doubt graphics are much improved. Watching the Hulk now is far better than watching Lou Ferrigno running around, and Kong is much better than watching Kong on top of the Empire State Building holding Faye Rey in his hand.

But, at the time it was pretty good. I suppose in 40 years you will look back on the movies of today and think how primitive they were.

I was never much of a comic book reader.

I read the Sporting News, and would read my Dads Popular Mechanic's or my Mom's Readers Digest.

Yea action films back and day compared to now are night and day graphics wise. But that’s expected.

I think a lot of movies transcend the era. Like planes, trains, and automobiles, blazing saddles, literally any movie with Clint Eastwood that was a western.

For me anyway.

It’s hard with action films based on games and monsters because you really got get that imagination/wow factor right, and comic book guys are more harsh than film critics.

Wandavision is sooooo good! Have really enjoyed it more than I thought I would. Have had to rewatch each episode to try and catch all the easter eggs and try to figure out what the heck is going on.

can't wait for Kong vs Godzilla! It looks awesome!

Haven't seen the trailer for Mortal Combat yet so will have to check that out

Godzilla has more "vs." movies in history. At least, Godzilla vs Rodan, and Godzilla vs Meca Godzilla, and at least one 3 monster fight.

King Kong, has little in ring experience, to my familiarity, I think he only fought the peoples, or Japan or New York.

Also, they omitted King, from King Kong's name, so I suspect a fixed fight. ping pong, hong kong, and the rest.

King Kong Opponents

TYRANNOSAURUS REX. The first and still most iconic battle of Kong's life. ...
ELASMOSAURUS. It's easy to mistake this creature for a serpent, but even as it coils around Kong you can make out flailing limbs.
PTERODACTYL. ...
GIANT OCTOPUS. ...
GODZILLA. ...
GOROSAURUS. ...
SEA SERPENT. ...

Is Godzilla bigger than King Kong?
The Original Godzilla is much, much larger than the Original Kong anyway. Godzilla is around 400' tall. King Kong is only about 30' tall, making Godzilla approximately 370 feet taller than King Kong. The movie shows them as about equal in size.

Kong is no match for the King of all Monsters!

Someone explain to me the premise of Wanda Vision please. I've seen the promos and it just doesn't grab me. The promo is somewhat confusing on what it is about.

It’d be hard to explain the premise without giving away the storyline. I’ll just say that it’s not what it appears in the trailers. It’s also exactly what you see in the trailers. The episodes are each sequential, building on each other, and they employ many of the same editing tricks and tropes through each episode. Yet each episode is different in general appearance. Each episode peels the onion a little further. Showing you the cracks the world it’s built in. It takes a couple episodes for you to note the changes and get a feel of what to expect ‘next week’. This last episode really uncorked the storyline bottle so to speak.
It’s a really good watch. Give it a two episode try... I’ll bet you stick around for the rest.

I was a little turned off at first, but grew to enjoy it more as plot points started to clear.

It takes about until the 4th episode to really get going. Up until then you only have a sense that something is amiss.

I love the marvel shows but I have to be honest, so far I'm not a fan of Wanda Vision. I have watched all the episodes so far hoping they will get better. I can't believe agents of shield got cancelled and they brought this next... bummer.

And I don't know for sure when Wanda came out in the comic books, because I remember Vision but not her. And I think I remember a red witch, was there another? Or was that wanda?

Well that makes some more sense. Just googled it, the red witch was game of thrones... Wanda is the scarlet witch.

When I was younger I remembered more about it, there was a movie, which was a surpise double feature, the 2nd being of course,
"Bambi vs. Godzilla" , or "Godzilla vs. Bambi", I wish I could explain more
Certainly worth a watch, very compelling imo.

"Bambi Meets Godzilla."
A Classic, in the Short Animated Film category.

I saw it when I was just a wee pup... it was great then, and it's still great even now.

I always wondered this too. I mean, Godzilla was supposed to be MASSIVE. King Kong is big, but not THAT big.

they adjusted godzilla and kong's size for the monsterverse movies.

here's the trailer:

if y'all remember in skull island, king was waaaayy bigger in that film than the earlier kong movies. here, they are able to stand on the aircraft carrier and fight it out.

i also want to remind people that its a monster movie. if you're looking for realism, please go watch some victorian-era drama. i tend to put those movies on while im cleaning up the crib or literally anything else that doesn't require me paying attention to it.

these are giant ass monsters fighting each other. its comic book characters traveling time and fighting aliens.

the only thing that should be technical and real is the home theater setups y'all have at the crib.

yall better have them surround sound speakers with the subwoofer. anything less, exit from this thread.

lol word.

man bro do you know how screwed humanity would be if those things existed? i love the movies because the original characters had very real messages for why the monsters existed, and the implication on humanity.

king gidorah is a freaking alien, so we have no tech to even attempt to control it. godzilla is a big ass reptile so there's no empathy factor there. Kong is the only one that displays any sort of connection with humans, but he's so ticked up with us he'd rather isolate and let us burn than help on his own free will.

its fun to think about, honestly. how different humanity 'could' be if those things really existed.

Netflix dropped a 3 part anime about Godzilla. he jacked humanity up so bad, the last remaining humans had to bounce out to space just to survive. came back and tried to fight godzilla again and still got their asses whooped.

It's like the online games forums, where someone will complain that characters should not be able to sprint indefinitely and never get tired. But they have no issue with some dude in a robe with a wooden stick shooting fireballs out of their fingers? smile

They last Kong vs Godzilla movie had two different endings. One for north american audiences, and one for Japanese audencies. Kong won in america, and Godzilla won in Japan.

Several years ago, I heard Godzilla is supposed to be a representation of the Atomic bomb, ( I assumed a representation of the US having acquired the bomb), does that change messages from the movies. Discuss.

WandaVision is phenomenal. But I was very much thinkin that it better get a WHOLE LOT better by the end of episode 2. Once I started realizing what was going on, I fell in love with it. And even at first when it was confusing, just the attention to detail in recreating the look of bygone TV eras was impeccable.

Kong vs Godzilla. Once again I'm stoked and once again I fear I will be a tad bit let down. These new movies have too many human characters that I just don't care about. Cut that in half and give me more monster fights! I want to feel like a kid again watching this crap.

Also, if you know your pop culture battles, you KNOW these two will end up teaming up to fight someone else in the end. And it's pretty much a given WHO that will be. Not spoiling anything but there are hints right there in the trailer. And then there's the internet where everyone seems to really enjoy spoiling things.

Mortal Kombat. I turn 47 this year, so why in the Hell am I excited for this junk? Why am I giddy seeing Sub-Zero stab a guy with his own blood that was frozen into a blood-cicle dagger??

And both Kong vs 'Zilla and Mortal Kombat will premiere on HBO Max the same day they're in theaters.
