Often as the chapters of failure are unraveled
In front of us. through failure we can gain
Knowledge and a better understanding of things

Every Browns regime has ended up as eventual
Failures. But it seems like the Kitchens Dorsey failure really fooled the masses.

Kitchens especially pulled wool over people's eyes. He was nothing more than a position coach.

As a vested football fan what did the last regime teach you?

That if Jimmy could go back in time, he would have fired Hue instead.

What did you learn the most from the last regime failure?

1.) That Dorsey was not a King, anointed by God to rule over the Browns.
2.) That Freddie wasn't ready to be a Head Coach.
3.) Since neither of them work for the Browns anymore, "If you do not wear Brown and Orange, you do not matter" is still a true statement.

We needed talent, wasted it, FK should not have been HC, and that Faith Is a Fine Invention.
We also still can't tackle, relied way too much on a MG that hurt us, trusted too much in an underachieving QB, and loved me some Hammer. Our kicker was a crapshoot.

Freddie Kitchens duped me. He was a horror show.

Also, statues for Dorsey were premature. He was average. He's a scout, not a GM.

Having a plan and shared vision is quite important, buzzy off-season quotes that send the "gets us" meter off the charts is meaningless.

I was mostly at this point prior to Dorsey and crew but their regime really drove it home... That listening to any owner, front office, or coaches speak is a waste of my time. That none of them have earned my time or my ear. That I’ll not watch another interview or presser from another representative of this team, player or otherwise, until the product on the field is worth listening about. I’ll watch their games but I’ll not give them any of my energy beyond that.

I learned that Haslem is an idiot.Fires everybody every year or 2 years.

I want Dorsey back. He might have missed on Freddy but he was still the best we ever had.

I learned that the GM and HC better improve from the 7-8-1 and 6-10 records, or else be prepared to pack their bags.

And the “scout” as u menZas like to refer to him built the team that just won the SB ... lets hope the “scout” has the same legacy here ... thumbsup

What a hoot, thinking Dorsey built the Chiefs. Dorsey was so good Clark Hunt fired him.

Brett Veach built the Chiefs that won the Super Bowl.

Excellent point. Damien Williams and Patty Mahomes! More Brett Veach guys!

Also, yes, Thank God, those 21 points helped the Chiefs win and cover the spread!

How the Chiefs and John Dorsey took a big swing to draft Patrick Mahomes II

So you believe Dorsey is guy that drafted Mahomes and is responsible for Mahomes being in KC? Congrat.

I'm going to go with the rest of the population that understands it was Brett Veach, you know, the guy that was immediately promoted to GM after Dorsey was fired. Also, the guy Andy Reid gave credit to after the Super Bowl.

To each their own!

“(GM) Brett Veach just wore us out on Mahomes when he became the starter at Texas Tech. He said he was ‘the greatest player he’d ever seen’...Then I watched the tape, and thought, ‘Well that’s the greatest quarterback I’ve ever seen.’”— Andy Reid on Patrick Mahomes.

I gained a much much deeper appreciation of what coaching can do for (and to) a team (the Belichek quote above).

That the spark we saw last year was Williams and the entire staff, not just Freddie... and we probably should have given THAT a chance rather than going right to Freddie.

That hiring a head coach because you think he is best for one player is a bad formula.

That we tasted just a little bit of success and rather ride it out, we panicked and tried to force it and it blew up on us.

Just so we're clear, I understand that Dorsey was the GM. However, my position is that it was Veach who first sold Reid and then Clark Hunt on Mahomes and was the driving the force behind Mahomes landing on the Chiefs roster.

It's a heck of a coincidence that the Chiefs drafted Mahomes and then Dorsey is fired a couple months later.

If you disagree, that's fine.

When a man at the top thinks he knows better than everyone else no matter how many of them tell him something is a bad idea and he does it anyway, things are going to end badly.

An interesting wrinkle to Dorsey's time in KC... no doubt. But didn't Reid credit Dorsey with the Mahommes pick when Dorsey was still in the building? Now he's crediting Veach now that he's the GM?

Seems weird.

Anyways, King John is dead. Long live the King. What's done is done, and I've moved on. I hope the new guys can do better (more for their sakes than anything else).

I learned to not put too much credence into a young player ... I had the feeling that we handed the keys to Baker too soon. It backfired, now we have to pull the reins in and coach him up

"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

Here's what I know. Andy Reid made it clear that Dorsey was in charge. Dorsey had the final say. And Dorsey went along and approved the pick. In every draft you have several voices in the room. There's often not a consensus in the room. Reid made it clear who was in charge and who made the final call in the end. So you can slice and dice that any way you wish.
