It was that dodgeball game that did him in.

Ruiter reporting on 92.3 that he had the surgery on Feb 4. Could have saved a month if he had just done it at the end of the season, but I guess that's his business. It does seem risky to have played in the Pro Bowl.

"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

There is no level of sucking we haven't seen; in fact, I'm pretty sure we hold the patents on a few levels of sucking NOBODY had seen until the past few years.

I hope the Pro Bowl thing doesn't become one of this board's "facts."
I think having surgery is a big decision for the individual. My wife applies anesthesia and is adamant about avoiding surgery if you can. I believe that Landry was contemplating the "possible" benefits and minuses of having surgery. Decisions like that often take time.

Whoever trained OBJ and Jarvis last year should be throat punched 5 times a day for a month.
Blocking those who argue to argue, eliminates the argument.

j/c: This is a quote made by Van Pelt about Jarvis and OBJ that came from a larger article. “They both deserve to get the ball as much as possible,’’ Van Pelt said, via Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer. “The beauty of having both of them is you can’t tilt coverage one way or the other. I had a chance with (Packers WRs) Davante Adams and Jordy Nelson where when Davante came on board, it made Jordy a better player. “I think having two guys that really make you play it straight defensively will help. As far as getting them the ball, that is our job as the offensive staff to scheme up ways to make them a top priority in the progressions.” https://www.yahoo.com/sports/alex-van-pelt-big-plans-111730495.htmlI think this is smart. I never understood why we didn't target both guys more last year. There was a lot of talk on here about Higgins, but he is JAG. I heard a lot of guys who played the game saying that OBJ and Landry needed the ball more. Jerry Rice was targeted. Julio Jones, Michael Thomas, D. Adams, D. Hopkins, etc are targeted. It is smart to get your best players the ball, especially in the biggest moments of the game.

Obviously it would have been better for the team for Landry to have had the surgery earlier. When it comes to personal health a person needs to do what is best for them, in this instance it seems like Landry needed to wait for the surgery. Good on him for choosing his own personal health. I would rather have him at full strength at some point instead of hobbled for the foreseeable future.

Jarvis was still debating whether to take the surgery route or not.. There is a report out there that Jarvis realized he needed surgery after the Pro Bowl game. That correlates well with the Feb 4 surgery date.

It is smart to get your best players the ball, especially in the biggest moments of the game. I think they were targeted enough - based on the below info they were both in the top 12 in the NFL and no other team has 2 WR's with 2 WR's appearing twice in the top 12. . . . Having said that - the list is based on total targets, some other WR's have a higher target per game but didn't play every game. But you can see 8.6 and 8.3 targets per game is on the higher end if not at the very top like Thomas and Jones (11.6 & 10.5). Our 3rd WR was a huge drop off in ability and our TE situation was questionable. So maybe we should have seen higher target numbers? On the flip side - OBJ clearly didn't know the playbook with Baker needing to line him up on multiple occasions every game, and OBJ also dropped many passes that hit his hands. Also Chubb was a beast at RB and ran 285 times which led the NFL. https://www.fantasypros.com/nfl/reports/targets/wr.php

138 and 133 targets each. The next WR target amount....24 (Ratley). The next overall targeted player in the passing game not a WR....49 (Chubb).
They were used in the passing game quite a bit and they accounted for over 50% of all targets; 82% of all WR targets.
Tackles are tackles.

Robert Woods and Cooper Kupp were also in the top 12 as far as WR teammates go. OBJ and Landry combined for 271 targets and Woods and Kupp combined for 274 targets. The next highest WR duo would be Mike Evans and Chris Godwin with 239. Including all positions the highest teammate combined target totals would be Christian McCaffrey and D.J. Moore with 277 total targets. *Feel free to check my math* Here are some more advanced stats on OBJ and Landry. Player Profile: Jarvis Landry Player Profile: OBJ
