If we're going to have an outbreak (makes sense with where Ohio is at right now), then thank goodness for the bye.

It seems like we are one of the most cautious teams when it comes to going virtual.

Have we even had a confirmed test yet in the season?

I hope that a lot of those meetings today involve trying to figure out all the ways they are failing and how much of it can be corrected this year, and if any of it can be corrected by trading for assets before the deadline tomorrow.

Hell, even IF Delpit comes back, we're still weak at Safety behind him. We really need to get someone in here that will be around for a while.

Good time to have it ... hope everyone stays smart and safe over the next 10 days

I suppose. I was thinking the bye could be a dangerous time for some players.

Great insight, especially on safety, Purp. Are you free and available;able to run those meetings? Because we don't seem to have a handle on these situations in-house. I agree with your priorities. This status quo could leave us at .500 at best if we remain complacent.

Players can’t go anywhere on the bye because they have to check in everyday to get tested.

As of now Baker has not tested positive. He was only in close contact with the staffer that tested positive.

Hopefully he remains negative and the team does as well over the bye

Appreciate the clarification. Thought he could have it and still test negative later. Regardless, I wish everybody all the best fighting this.

Ben Roethlisberger among 4 added to Pittsburgh Steelers' COVID-19 list

ESPN

Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger is among the Steelers placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list, the team announced Tuesday.

In addition to Roethlisberger, offensive lineman Jerald Hawkins, running back Jaylen Samuels and linebacker Vince Williams have also been placed on the list and will be isolated for five days and are not permitted at the team facility.

Steelers TE McDonald tests positive for virus
The players are deemed "high-risk" contacts following the positive test of tight end Vance McDonald, who was placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list Monday.

As "high-risk" contacts, the players must be isolated for five days after their last interaction with McDonald.

Listening to Pittsburgh media, sounds like Ben was a precautionary thing

This is real bad news.

Contact tracing could sideline many.

Very sorry to hear this.

This wasn't a surprise given Ohio's performance the last two weeks. Obvious that the politicized COVID issues and our measures haven't worked well enough. Hope all are well.
Really not certain what our game options are, especially after Buckeyes game cancellation.

We would be at a competitive disadvantage if we're quarantining without a lot of positive tests. Canceling the game would come into play, imo, if we start racking up the positives.

Guys getting added to quarantine without enough time to come off with negatives tests would really suck.

Possibly reschedule the game to Monday or Tuesday .. we’ve seen the league do that a few times thus far

It depends on how many guys test positive. If it’s one positive with a few guys sitting out because of contact they’ll play the game.

Pardon my ignorance, is it true that players can be forced to sit because of "contact" even if they test negative?

I think they have to test negative an X amount of days...I think it's 3 but perhaps I'm wrong....but they def. go through a protocol just being in a certain contact with that identified someone.

Hmm... almost seems as if you would have to extend game time if you're going to exclude players simply because of their proximity to an infected individual.
