Looking forward to seeing these eye-popping numbers.
It's going to be astronomical.
This was always going to happen and Mahomes being the first to do it makes a ton of sense.
Probably will end up being a value on the Chiefs end ... salary cap will go down a bit
Looks like that guy is going to be expected to buy dinner when out with teammates.
Wow. Congrats to Mahomes! That's a big number.
I dunno man, I think I gotta watch the tape to remember this thread.
I do.
I love Baker.
Mahomes just threw for 50 TDs and won the MVP in his second season. As of right now this is not even a discussion. Mahomes in a landslide.
I remember when Mahomes was in the draft.
I started watching his college tape. Because at that time we were in our endless pursuit of finding a quarterback.
My first thoughts after watching some of his games was WOW. I had not seen a guy do what this kid can do.
Thinking that with good coaching and the right system this guy could take off. I wanted to draft him.
Nobody on the Board at that time had anything positive to say about Mahomes.
Actually, there were a several posters that liked Mahomes before the draft. I was not one of them. I just did not see the accuracy. Of course, I was dead wrong. I can admit it. Others won't admit how they thought about Mahomes vs Baker not all that long ago.
j/c...
Wow is all I can say.
??? how much of that 503 mil is guaranteed???
Poor Brady is probably shaking his head...lol
Well may God Bless Mahomes...just stay healthy kid.
I was a huge proponent of Mahomes. Many thought he was 2nd or even 3rd rd material. Right after we drafted Mayfield and prior to Mahomes breaking out, the only QB's I said I'd take over Mayfield were Mahomes and Wentz. With Mahomes pricetag, today, I'm still taking Mayfield. Although, Mayfield will be next to sign a mega deal.
And why is every thread turned into a Baker thread?
Insane numbers... But congrats

"Thinking that with good coaching and the right system this guy could take off." That's the catch, and why he most likely would not have flourished here even if we did draft him.
I could be wrong. I just don't remember reading anything about people liking him. At the same time I don't read what everyone has to say.
Mahomes and Wentz were drafted the year before Mayfield.
In any event Mahomes went to the right team and it has payed off big.
Hard to say what would have happened if he had been drafted by the Browns.
What I will say is Mahomes sitting behind Alex Smith was a good thing for him.
It is important to really learn an offense before you are thrown into it rather than trying to learn it on the fly.
Back in the day drafted quarterbacks were rarely put into a starters role their first year. If a team has continuity in their coaching staff it normally pays off.
Mahomes is fun to watch. He is breaking the mold on what can be done. His career should be interesting.
Wentz was actually drafted 2 years prior to Baker.
Right. My memory slipped on me.
What I do remember is flipping out when we did not draft Wentz.
And when Mahomes was in the draft thinking I would love taking a flyer on this kid.
Oh well. Such is life.
I still have hope for Baker.
I really wanted Wentz. I understood when we didn't draft him and was on board.
I wanted Mahomes at 12 or later. I never thought a team would leap frog into the top 10 to get him but I knew he was better than most were giving credit for.
"I can use money."
Jeff Bezos net worth $$171.6 billion.
Staggering.

Mayfield will probably be benched by week 4.
See last year Mayfield got exposed for what he is...an average/journeyman level QB. Mayfield has limited athletic ability, he isnt fast enough to run in the NFL, he so far has not proven he is tall enough to be a pocket passed, and he does very poorly beyond his first read.
Lamar Jackson is a better pocket passed at this point in his career than Mayfield that's just sad.
As I said the NFL history is full of flash in the pan guys. Mayfield is a guy who had a few good games as a rookie, has yet to have a winning record, and was terrible last year. Bringing in Keenum was Stephanski insurance policy. He isnt going to base his career off Mayfield, i think the leash is short, he stinks like last year he will be on the bench by week four.
Way to Troll the Browns board...bengalette...smh
"Average/journeyman level QB's" don't get drafted #1 overall.
Keenum also isn't an insurance policy.
The best quarterback play in over 12 years and some are looking to get rid of him. Amazing.
The best quarterback play here in Cleveland in over 12 years and some are looking to get rid of him. Amazing.
Once you add that caveat and if you pretend like last year didn't happen, it doesn't look nearly as impressive.
I'd be curious what most Browns fans would want over a 10 period... 10 straight winning seasons without a Super Bowl appearance or title, or 9 out 10 losing seasons with 1 Super Bowl title?

10 winning season - see the Cavs

I'd rather be deep in the playoffs for 9 out of 10 years, than 2-14 for 9 years with 1 SB
As great as the SB is, cheering the entire season and playoffs is way more fulfilling as a fan.
I agree with that.
There's nothing worse than every year by week 8 or 9 sitting on my couch emotionless, not happy when we score, not sad when we make a mistake or lose. Just there knowing once again it's been a wasted season.

Does it really matter what any of us want? I mean we haven't had anything that resembles what any of us would want in decades.
Agreed. What we want and what we get are like night and day. I hope before I go that we win at least one Super Bowl. It's been over 50 years for me and I haven't seen it yet.
why Browns fans should give a damn about the title of this thread is beyond me...
As for what our Browns players consider a goal, making it to the playoffs or even "sniffing" the playoffs...those kind of goals are what I would call "unrealistic".
Playing a season through a c-19 pandemic, something no NFL franchise has experienced...the goal of a Super Bowl even being played in early 2021...the chances are slim to none, imo.
REALISTICALLY, NFL 2020 even happening is seriously in doubt.
Uncharted territory...yep, this is where we are at.
J/c ...
We’ve had 12 losing seasons in a row ... I’m gonna go with 12 losing seasons in a row with a SB victory ... The worst is over ....
Or we could go with 19 losing seasons out of 21 and then a SB trophy ...
Seeing as how we’ve just gone through both the above scenarios I’m onboard ... CHOO CHOO ...
THE ISLES GONNA BE HOPPING THIS YEAR DAWGS
It's easy to be a follower...when it comes to
"the Browns"...not many leaders on this roster !!!.
I challenge Browns fans and Browns players...PROVE ME WRONG!
BTW..given the uncharted territory we might be entering...anything is possible!
I'd be curious what most Browns fans would want over a 10 period... 10 straight winning seasons without a Super Bowl appearance or title, or 9 out 10 losing seasons with 1 Super Bowl title?

What would be the thrill of knowing you're going to lose in the 1st or 2nd round of playoffs every year? Seems like torture as well.
Give me 1 Super Bowl win - see Cavs

Well, yes..If going in you knew with 100% certainty, there was a SB at the end of 10 years of losing. Now it sounds like the NFL fixed conspiracy theory and we drew the lucky card one year.
The options were presented as if we knew the outcomes.
Give me my fixed my Super Bowl season!

Same. Give me the Super Bowl and then I don’t have to care as much.

If you are going to RIP someone, at least proof read your DAMN POST!
I'm pretty sure Mahomes can take KC back to the Super Bowl again, but boy, if he doesn't over the next ten years....
Can’t imagine any teams putting a franchise tag on any QB for the foreseeable future.
Do you think the NFL is going to fold?
No, it won't fold. What people seem to be missing is that for every billionaire that may fold there will be a billionaire waiting to take his place. There may be some teams change hands but the league isn't going anywhere.
Can’t imagine any teams putting a franchise tag on any QB for the foreseeable future.
I don’t agree with this at all.
They said the same about Marino and he never made it back to the Super Bowl.
