Franks, Gustin, Stanton, and Lee are all 4 guys I wanted to get to the PS
I figured Hodge wouldn’t
Good for Jo Jo. Gives us insurance if Schwartz has hammy issues

The #Browns are signing DE Curtis Weaver to their practice squad. Last year’s fifth-round pick of the #Dolphins was claimed by Cleveland last August and remains with the team as he works to develop behind an experienced defensive line.
We lost Hodge a guy we could afford to lose.
The PS squad is all good. I am glad Porter made that squad.
I like how it's shaping up so far.
No Redwine to PS. Not to surprised nor broken up about it but I hope we stash more DBs on the PS.

Good news about Bradley. We’ve kept a lot of the guys I’d want to
The Falcons claimed former Browns OG Colby Gossett
So far so good, but this is one I wanted to get back.
I'll be surprised, then. I thought being part of our secondary last year (behind Sendejo, no less) would've ensured his safe return to our PS.
I wonder where John Kelly ends up.

Browns PS per Cleveland Browns Daily
Dang. They almost got everyone back!

I saw that there were only 27 waiver claims across the entire NFL. It's weird.
I wonder when they assign and/or announce the protected PS players. Any ideas?

I think that is a week to week designation.
Maybe somebody knows....what's in it for a designated player? Seems there has/ should be something. Why would a player want to be designated? All that does is prevent them from being picked up to a active roster.
Seems like a punishment for being a guy we want to keep.
Wasn't long ago when that ps squad would have been starting or in competition for a starting spot.

They are ... just for other teams
What a classy move on Hodge's part much luck and continued success young man.
I tell you what that is a pretty good bunch of players we have on our practice squad..................
Makes me feel pretty good if someone goes down....
That group has upside, but they have played well. When was the last time that you were eager to see more of PS players. I canna believe that we got this many back. Tip my hat to Hodge. Plays hard; classy!

He went to their PS. We could always resign him off their PS if need be.

I suspect that was because teams don't want to pay overvalued contracts, as opposed to trying to sign a player after waivers expire, or sign them to the practice squad. (at a savings)
So, the Browns reportedly have 11 on the practice squad. I suspect that they'll probably add an extra WR, an emergency K, and another DB or 3.
What about the extra spots? I thought there were a total of sixteen spots this year.
Aaron Wilson

Cleveland Browns signed former Texans offensive lineman Jordan Steckler to their practice squad
Anybody know anything about him?

He used to be on the Texans.
Another OL to take up a PS spot with no chance to replace anybody.
How do I know that?
His only chance is to overtake subpar perfroming draft pick guys.
But the Cutdowns just showed the team will retain subpar performing guys if they were a draft pick.
So the conclusion is the best case is the Browns stellar OL coach has another guy to develop for another teams future.
They could use the spot on another position. (contingency overkill)
Could he (Texans offensive lineman Jordan Steckler) be replacing Drew Forbes since he is out for another year?
Most likely just a guy with some traits the team (and Coach Callahan) feel they can work with. He put up 26 reps at his pro day type day, so he could be even stronger after some time in a pro program.
Not at all surprised. Good luck to him, he’s a solid player. We play the Lions this year. I hope he has a good game, despite our 34-10 pounding of Detroit.
My other online community is the local Dungeons & Dragons scene. Today it was learned that Johnny Stanton is a D&D player and is the Dungeon Master for a game including unnamed members of the Browns. Now that community is abuzz with speculation about who might be in his game, and what kind of character they may be playing.

The entire FO. Duh!
Are you suggesting that KS brought JS with him to CLE because he was the DM?!
Myles loves dinosaurs ....... so dragons aren't that far off ......

that's one way to get a favorable results if he rolls a 20
That shirt and I want to get an invite to the game.

Favorable results on a 20 are automatic. It's more likely to get favorable results on a 14 though. (Needed a 15, but because you're the coach and got me my job, 14 works.)
Well he has a leg. Wonder why he was cut?
Nice kick, BUT:
Just remember there is no rush, no padding and no stress.
Tim Harris, Cornerback, What is a Tim Harris?
6'1 205, ran a 4.43, or 4.45 40 at pro day no combine, 2019 6th.
About to make NFL debut in Dec. 2020. Had a groin pull in August of 2021, this past month.
Is Tim Harris the future for the Browns at Cb. iirc. Tim Harris is only the 3rd Corner the Browns have added since drafting Greg Newsome in the first round of the 2020 draft served as a referendum on what the Browns must have thought of at least some of the cornerbacks already on the team at that time.
The other two additions ,were UDFA's Kiondre Thomas Cb, Kansas state who has been placed on IR unable to return.
and Emmanuel Rugumba Cb, UDFA out of Miami of Ohio.
If Tim Harris can be what they tried to tell us Brian Allen Cb free agent signed from Minnesota about a year ago, was hoped to be, will yet to be seen.
But He may have the frame and 40 time to stand a chance to fill in and be a team strength.
Right now if he's on the practice squad, I don't know how long that will remain or if he will be pulled up.
Okay, who else thought of South Park?
I want 2 things from my kicker; make the extra points, and be able to kick a field goal when it matters. I understand that XP are not as automatic as they once were, but if he can't hit 95+%, that's a problem. As for those field goals, less than 40 yds should be close to automatic, 40-45 should be in the 75% range, 45-50 in the 50% range, and beyond 50 should be at least possible (for those end of game, win with a FG situations.) Parkey was reliable up to about 35, but fell off dramatically beyond that. I don't think the Browns even tried a FG beyond 45 last year.
That video above was on a practice field (no rush), and we have no way of knowing how many failed attempts preceded the one recorded.
Yes, wonder if CBA covers practice squad. I'd have him kicking in the stadium while 53 are resting. I ASS U ME he must have kicked for us BEFORE signing him to PS...would love to see the tape. Watched his SMU tape....strong leg....Go Browns!!!
Back for round two with the Browns.
BEREA, Ohio -- The Cleveland Browns have now filled their entire 16 positions on their practice squad, at least for now.
On Monday the Browns signed defensive end Ifeadi Odenigo to their practice squad.
Odenigbo (6-3, 258) was originally a 2017 seventh-round (220th overall) pick by the Vikings from Northwestern. The fourth-year player has logged 15 starts (all in 2020) in 32 regular season games played. His career totals include 59 tackles, 10.5 sacks, 10 tackles for loss, one forced fumble and two fumble recoveries.
Odenigbo had previously been with the Browns in 2018. He was inactive for the first three games in 2018. He was with the Cardinals in 2018 before playing the last two seasons on the Vikings’ active roster (2019-20) and spending this past offseason with the New York Giants.

Odenigbo is a native of Centerville, Ohio.
4th year vet with 15 starts? Surprised he qualifies for the PS.
They really relaxed the practice squad rules. Karl Joseph is on a practice squad.
Always liked Duke. Just sad to see him on a PS level. <smh>
Odenigbo will be on the active roster within a few weeks.
