I kept my mouth shut for the most part when the refs screwed us for years as many folks around here insisted that we would never get the calls until we were a winning team. Well as Gomer Pyle would say "SURPRISE, SURPRISE" we still get it shoved up our backside by the NFL and The NFL Refs now that we have a good team and a winning record.

Our D line gets held and screwed more than a porn star. No calls. Our D backs get called for penalties that the other team seldom does. I disagreed with some folks around here about the Refs when we had a losing record and most calls went against us with no reason.

SOrry I'm done with that. Freaking Myles Garret gets raped and sexually assulted on almost every play yet we hear crickets from the NFL. I just deleted a friend today who works for the NFL who told me the Browns always seem to get all the breaks from NFL refs.

For some reason he got upset with my profane rant in response. (there's one less friend I have in this life)

Bottom line, I am sick and tired of the NFL picking and choosing favorites and protecting their bottom line instead of the truth. banghead banghead banghead

How Does your ex-friend think the Browns get all the Brakes? What games has he been watching?
Posted By: Dawgs4Life Re: Call me crazy. Maybe your right. - 10/11/21 10:08 PM
It certainly felt like yesterday we were destined to lose with the refs. Even when they scored they threw a flag just in case lol. There are a few instances of similar games that seem to say the same
Posted By: jfanent Re: Call me crazy. Maybe your right. - 10/11/21 10:08 PM
Even after that dpi fiasco, there was a play on the Chargers last scoring drive where they threw another bogus flag for defensive holding, but it was declined because the catch was made. It's like they wanted insurance to make absolutely sure they got the first down.

So the Chargers are suddenly a favorite of the league? I don’t buy it. I think the refs are just bad.

Not so much the Chargers being a favorite as we are not!

You ever wonder how Vegas gets so many games correct?!
Posted By: TrooperDawg Re: Call me crazy. Maybe your right. - 10/11/21 10:30 PM
I put it as ineptitude. Njoku was tackled, mugged, assaulted on the Hail Mary play LONG before the ball came into view on the screen. If it's not ineptitude, the Browns should be filing lawsuits.

You realize that every fan base has these same complaints?

It looked to me like the defender got his feet tangled up with DPJ.

I’ve said this before, if you think the refs are purposely calling plays to affect the result of the game you should probably stop watching football.

Law of averages should kick in... But it does definitely feel as if we are hurt by bad calls more than most/any....

The officiating crew is listed as...

Officials
Referee Brad Allen
Umpire Bruce Stritesky
Down Judge Danny Short
Line Judge Daniel Gallagher
Back Judge Greg Yette
Side Judge Boris Cheek
Field Judge Rick Patterson

I haven't checked to see which of these guys was responsible for making what were clearly bad calls against the Browns...

...but it might be time for the Browns to start keeping a record of each officiating crew as well as each individual on this crew.

I'd be surprised if they didn't with the analytics they employ.

NO! NO! CFRS15s' statement is wrong on this. (Sure they each have complatints, but the statement suggests, that there is not bias, and that is wrong. There is bias! There is bias, and I'm not giving a rip about vegas and points lines, I'm not talking about any of that, don't care about it. I'm saying! The NFL, has clear teams, they want to win.

Every game, every time, there are league favorites, and teams the league doesn't want to win.
And the Referees regularly impact game results, with bias.
And just because it's team A today, doesn't mean it's team A tomorrow, but in just about every game, over the years, there is always a favorite, and a team wished to be disrespected.
To become the team that's not disrespected, it pretty much helps to be a team that is either.
East Coast, West Coast, The Cowboys, or Not from the Midwest. (Plus a million more ways to describe it, but everyone sees that it's pretty obvious, and has been for decades.)

Posted By: THROW LONG Re: Call me crazy. Maybe your right. - 10/12/21 02:11 AM
C'mon people. It's not the referee crew!!

It's the League! The league offices, got what they wanted in a Browns loss to the Chargers result!
I don't know the particulars, look at the 1960's.
The NFL offices are in New York, and the NFC was in NY moreso, and the old AFC, or AFL, has some original sin, of being an outsider.

Then they have some original sin of being from Ohio! and then if the two Ohio teams are considered, it's that you're not Cincinnati.

Then, there is the subsequent sin, of Not Sucking, like the franhise is supposed to. I'm sure the league, just wants:
Admit, the Browns were only resurrected as a franchise in 1999, to be the consomate losing franchise, in the division,
partly why the original agreement to bring the team back in 1999, an agreement in about 1996, stated the Browns would be coming back, "in a division with Baltimore and Pittsburg."

that line. "in a division with Baltimore and Pittsburgh" was a public statement, before they even realigned to 4 divisions per conference from 3.

Consider this. They named the Super Bowl trophe after Lombardi and not after Paul Brown.

Consider this. They openly advertised for 50 years that the 1972 dolphins were the only undefeated team, since and before, all the while completely ignoring the Browns undefeated season.
I'd have to look it up again, but one year, the Browns went undefeated.

I rest my case.
Posted By: THROW LONG Re: Call me crazy. Maybe your right. - 10/12/21 02:22 AM
Ya but the chargers are in the afc you dumb#*##!
and The Browns wend undefeated when they were still in the AAFL so that doesn't count either dumb**##!

The Chargers are a team from the west coast.
So, If there are 7 teams that are winning too many, and the playoffs can't take and make the Hollywood favorite, whether it's Marcus Mariotta, or now Justin Herbert!

Look!! There are 3 teams! 3 cities in this country!
New York! Los Angeles!
and then everywhere else that New York! and Los Angeles tells you to like!

Now! Either, ... submit and do what the New York! and Los Angeles says! or, face the freakin consequences,
and that means, well you know what that means,
not the least of which is you won't get to play in the league anymore, eventually.
Posted By: THROW LONG Re: Call me crazy. Maybe your right. - 10/12/21 02:25 AM
The Browns also have the sin of drafting Baker Mayfield, (who is a good player)
when they clearly were directed:
By the NFL establishment, to take Sam Darnold, who was a just not quite as good player, and after they were to take Darnold, then continue to lose like they're supposed to.

They should throw the flag, and a ref in a booth should immediately start reviewing. He can listen in to the refs on the field discussing what the penalty was and inform them if it was or not.

At this point there is no reason to not get it right other than the time it could take to review.

Which bring up another point, when they do have to review a play, why does it take so long, there should be a 60 or 90 second limit. If you can't determine if the call on the field was wrong in those 90 seconds, it should be what was called. Heck, we can see it in 15 seconds on the TV replay.
Posted By: FATE Re: Call me crazy. Maybe your right. - 10/12/21 12:35 PM
I guaran-damn-tee I could get that replay done in 30 seconds every time... and under 15 seconds 80% of the time.

Sometimes I think they have to make a quick call to the 702 before they announce their decision.

Oh! OFFICIATING analytics. Novel concept.

Some thoughts. Hated the calls as well, but TDs from two blown coverages, especially that grossly, are the game losers. I was raised not to bitch about the zebras. But they do matter.

This is anecdotal, but last year, and this season especially, my impression in our games especially, is that the fourth quarter marks the start of flag day with flags on many plays and some runs of back-to-back flags. Just seems to be part of close games.

Refs have hurt us, with tacky calls and also ignoring blatant fouls. And the "going to the booth" halfway across the country is not a favorite. The officials seem fine to experts usually, and we are often on the wrong end of the stuck.

In a passing nod though, flipping the coin, I remember more than a few games when we were stinking it up horribly, and the officials' flags were the best part of our limited success, calls in our favor sustaining drives and calling back the opponent's good plays fortuitously. We seem to be getting roughed up by the NFL this year, and our margin for error as coached can't overcome it. The NFL must hate Myles Garrett IMO

Overcome. Achieve in spite of the stripes. The officials are in BM and Ski's heads too deep.

If you start with the premise that the League Hates Cleveland because Cleveland is not New York or Los Angeles.

Then you realize the League does not want to see Cleveland obtain a good win loss record, because doing so may keep a Los Angeles or any AFC West team out of the playoffs, and,
That loses money.

If you realize that, in the game itself, that the league does NOT WANT, any games that are over, in the 3rd quarter.
(And if anyone thinks that bull ^ they just aren't paying attention!)
Because. Prior to 1986!! LOTS of NFL Games used to be over by the 3rd quarter.

Now. I challenge you to find One per week? in the 2010's.

The Conclusion, is the Refs' orchestrated the outcome!
and the League supports what the Ref's did.

Therefore the Ref's were not BAD, because:
They did what the league wanted them to. (They forced the Browns to lose, forced the chargers to win, because they want to support the political campaign of Justin Herbert I guess.)

Now. It takes admitting that the whole system is unfair, and it's unfair because Cleveland is an unpopular location on a national level,
(big corporate, biggg money)

It is what it is, the money starts somewhere.
