We've had many song themed threads, but I think this is one we haven't done yet.

Here's a start:

White Lion - When The Children Cry

Say Something (I'm Giving Up On You) By A Great Big World Featuring Christina Aguilera

There’s a newer song by an Australian singer (I think) about putting the phone down and letting the girl go ... that’s sad to me

Al Bundy referred to this tune as a "musical sphincter-lock."
Al was right.

I guess this isn't really a "sad song", but considering the turmoil in Freddie's life, this one always brings a tear to my eye. There's never been a clear timeline of when he was actually diagnosed, but this release intersects the general timeline. I hear the desperation in his voice and wonder if it's coincidence or a reflection of what he already knew.

Dealt with this with my grandma, and dealing with it with my last remaining grandma - She's 96. I can't imagine dealing with it with my dad.

Or, this one: Wife called me at about midnight. My friend, and a twin to my brother in law, had died. This was a number of years ago.

For anyone old enough to have dealt with the loss of a parent as age has caught up with them, this song has to have a place in your heart....

Georgia Lee - Tom Waits

I really like this song. I find it to be rather haunting. It reminds me of a boy who was abused. A boy who grew into a disillusioned man, where his dreams of dying were the best he ever had. The everyday grind of people who don't see him for who he is has become an even greater burden than his own depression. It's as if he is looking for an alternative place in a world gone mad.
