I know I don't post a lot on here but I definitely lurk everyday.

Since it is the off-season, I thought I would lighten things up with a fun thread.

So when you were a little kid what did your parents or grandparents tell you and you believed.

A couple for me are:

When it Thunders out it is God bowling and when there is lightning it was a strike.

Another is if you swallow your gum it will stay in your stomach for 7 years.

Snipe hunting was another one as I could never catch or see those things smile
Can’t think of anything personally but we use to tell my little sister that the Davis-Besse nuclear plant cooling towers were cloud makers. She believed us for years.
You know the statues on the Lorain-Carnegie Bridge here in Cleveland? When I was a kid I thought they were giant mummys who would kill us all if they woke up and got out. Thanks to Hammer Films, Boris Karloff, and Ghoulardi for that childhood nightmare.

--Watering your grass will make it rain. I didn't understand my dad's sarcasm when I was 4.

--The stork actually delivered babies.

--People are honest.
The gum one still feels real to me...

For the longest time as a kid i swore a troll lived under my bed....
When I was a kid I was a huge tomboy. I spent all my free time playing in the woods. So my Mom told me that slugs made lightning. (Because she didn't want me picking up bugs.) And then I was in the woods and lifted up a log and there were slugs. So I ran all the way back the house screaming in terror. lol
Grandpa told me how the oldtimers didn't trust banks and would bury their money in their backyards. For one whole summer, every spare dime I had got buried in our backyard under the biggest tree. I even exchanged paper money for coins so it wouldn't get wet. I also mowed yards for money, so I had cash flow...

Grandpa didn't tell me to mark or map where the money was buried. Sometimes I think about going by the old house and getting permission from the new owners to metal detect my fortune. There is probably 30-50 dollars in face value silver coins under that tree. Every one of them is in a sandwich baggie 4-6 inches down too.
So your were the culprit who caused climate change with all your plastic bags. tsktsk wink

If you swallow watermelon seeds a watermelon will grow in your stomach

That’s not true?

I swear, the older I get, the more that sucker grows.
I think we all knew what would happen if you stepped on a crack.

My hat is off to Ghoulardi, the Purple Knif, monster flicks, exploding models, the Rat Fink series of models, and fright wigs before they had a name. Thanks for kickstarting that memory! thumbsup

So how do you kill a Purple Knif?
Santa Claus

and...

"God" (as a human form/father of jesus etc.). I do believe in a higher creative life creator, sustainer and provider, but in my world it is the sun.

I believed that the mythical “melon heads” lived in the small patch of woodland behind the house I lived in.

It’s true

No one knows.

I’d rather stick with factual proof that sifting through various religious dogma that contain elements of influence from each other.

Note: This isn’t to trash religion. You do you. Just don’t try to make laws based off of religious dogma to control my life.

from 'National Geographic': The sun formed more than 4.5 billion years ago, when a cloud of dust and gas called a nebula collapsed under its own gravity. As it did, the cloud spun and flattened into a disk, with our sun forming at its center. The disk's outskirts later accreted into our solar system, including Earth and the other planets.
So who created the nebula?

That one day I would live to see the Browns win the Super Bowl.
That I would be tall when I got older
