Our last MNF game was the game against the Ravens where the blocked our field goal and returned it for a touchdown to win the game. That was 2015. Our head coach was Mike Pettine.
I watched most of the Jets game on the plane because that was my only option. They won the turnover battle 4-1 and still lost. Their offense wasn't very good. Darnold was indecisive and inaccurate. And the 4 turnovers, only 1 of them was "forced" the others were giveaways.
I know the immediate comeback when I say "The Jets weren't very good" is, well neither were we... and that's true but the Jets weren't very good.

Ah yes, I remember that. The game announcer yelled out "Unbelievable!" and I was like, "What are you talking about? This is the Browns, that was totally believe-able"
If these guys cannot come correctly for this game after taking the beating they did - mostly of their own doing - and heading into MNF, then they are on their way to being a lost cause.
And no, I do not feel it hyperbolic to say "lost cause". They imploded in a way that we've not seen any other Browns team do - and that is saying a LOT, but they did it after an offseason of acquiring more talent and expectations than we've seen in decades and in the most anticipated Home Opener since The Return... and now they head into MNF.
I tend to agree. I realize it’s very early, we have new guys and systems, etc ... but we laid an absolute EGG on Sunday. We have talent. We have hype. It’s supposed to be OUR TIME.
If we can’t show up Monday and right the ship then we’re in trouble
This was written last September and I didn't look up last year's results, but this is connected to what you are saying:
Quote:
Since 2007, 91 teams have started 0-2. Only 10 (10.9 percent) of them turned it around to make the playoffs and one of those (the 2008 Chargers) made it with an 8-8 record.
So....what happens if we lose to a no Darnold or bell jets team?
I wouldn't say "season is over" because there's still 14 games left after that, but generally teams that start 0-2, especially if losing to a bad team with a backup QB on a national stage, are donezo.
So if we lose I'd say our chances at playoffs drop from 25% to 2% at best.
I don't see us losing to the Jets. I'm not the most positive fan in the world, but it seems like we go from bragging and on top of the world to dismay and gloom and doom in the blink of an eye.
I think 6.5 is a HUGE number for us to be favored ... Even though I think we should win, i’d Bet the Jets to cover
If the Browns can't beat the Jets by a single TD w/o Darnold, Williams, Mosely and Enunwa all playing for the Jets, then it's time to question the hype for this team.
They should easily win by double digits even with Randall out.
Because I watched him in preseason and I thought his coverage was pretty good. I think he played smart and is fairly athletic. I think sometimes when a guy gives up a completion, folks automatically assume he stinks, even if it is a great route and an accurate throw. I also think playing FS doesn't ask you to match up in man coverage and instead asks you to read plays and cover the field.
I would trust him much more than Redwine. I can see us mixing up our coverages, though. And using both Murray and Whitehead as the extra guys, just like I mentioned in my first post. The only other thing I can see is if Carey can play FS [I have no idea if he can or not.] If he can, he might be the choice. I did see him being used in dime coverage last year where he lined up more like a safety than a corner.
I don't want to see Cover 2, I hope we play Cover 3 zone or Cover 1 man....let the LBs or nickle backs double up - keep the one safety back there playing centerfield.
Simien will not kill us with his arm. He might dink n dunk us to death why we should keep only one safety deep.
He's looking to get the ball out fast with his pre snap reads.

jmho
If he does go dink and dunk, this might be a good game to get Mack Wilson involved. He seemed to have a knack for shagging those short passes in preseason
And I could see working in a dose of our two rookie LBs. If our rush is a bunch of sleds, get some fresh folks in a rotation and platoon some. Wear them out early.
All of our units, if their as good as some say and think they are, need to own this game. They talked the talk for the last 4 months now its time to walk the walk.

With Simien (sp?) in and Bell back there, basically playing 2 in-the-box type safeties might not be the worst thing in the world. It'll definitely help as well if the corners came to play.
Yeah, I don’t know why it does this as a default? ... i have no control over why it goes above the quote.
I know people get angry when I don’t hit the reply button, but this is what happens haha

Hey all kidding aside, are you doing this on purpose? Is it something with your browser or device? Is it sticking the cursor on top of the quote?
Bro, it's not that hard. Click on "Quote" on the poster you are quoting. Scroll down and right click after the quote box and begin typing. LOL............Come on, man!
Haha, no I know how to do it ... my device that i purchased just won’t let me scroll down in this box. From now on I’ll just try to state who I’m replying to then

I think Simein <whatever, gives them a better chance to win than Darnold.
I don't think there will be "any" "easy" MNF games for the Browns who don't get on MNF very often, they will all be very demanding,
Very tough game coming up tomorrow night.
Browns are going to need All of their focus, and a couple breaks to go their way too.
Db's I thought, yeah, Burnett, I'd have Burnett as the hybrid LB/Shallow safety.
Deep safties, I'd put Ward and Mitchell back there and Put Greedy TJ Carrie, and Sheldrick Redwine as my 3 cover corners, I know that's 6, and you can do whatever roaming you want with Whitehead.
I agree ... 0-2 is close to insurmountable given our early schedule. We HAD to at least get one of our first 2. Rams, Ravens, 49ers, Seahawks, Patriots .. yikes
I more than half expect this to be one of those really bad games where two teams try their hardest to give the game to the other team, but nobody really wants it.
Well, they set the bar really low last week. I didn't think the team would be all dialed in at the beginning of the season, so normally I just want them to be playing better and better over the weeks....
but we really need a win. After tonight, the schedule looks much tougher. We have the Rams, Ravens, SF, Seattle, and Patriots (in roughly that order). The Ravens and SF could be the easier games, and those teams are hot right now. Not having even a single win while grinding through that lineup of opponents could really hurt in building momentum and team cohesiveness.

I'm not terribly worried about the Ravens or 49ers. Maybe not even Seattle.
Ravens and 49ers have both played two really bad teams. Seattle nearly lost to a Steelers team without Ben or Conner and only squeaked past the Bengals by one point.
The Pats and Rams, however, will be a significant challenge.
Chris Smith in statement says he’ll play Jets on MNF after his girlfriend died last week: “I am going to play tonight because it is something, she would want me to do. She would want me to keep doing what I love and stay strong. I play for her tonight. She is my why.”
We win and I could see us gain some momentum into next week vs. the Rams and then the Ravens. I could see us getting to 3-1 or more than likely 2-2.
If we lose this game, 0-4 looks very realistic.
I am not concerned about the Rams at all.
IF we win tonight.
If so, I think we take down the Rams and go to 2-1.
Whatever you're smoking dude, it's puff puff pass... The was we are playing tonight we MIGHT win, but the Rams are going to pummel us. The D looks alright but the O is really struggling with the new Air-raid offense. This is NOT how we played O last year.
Please, let tell the truth.. Baker is playing like crap. He will not take the short throw even when its wide open. The line is giving him time but he wants to throw for big chunks. HE IS SCREWING UP!!

It was cool to see us under the lights and the marquee discussion point .. I think our team still isn’t comfortable in this position or with each other yet. But, the hope is that last night took some pressure off the team (and OBJ’s big play loosened up the O)
