Baltimore at Pittsburgh is interesting and important for us ... Baltimore has been knocked down a peg and Pittsburgh may have gotten some confidence (albeit against Cincy)
It's early, but it's desperation time for the rats. They don't want to be 0-2 in the division, and only have wins vs the 2 worst teams in the league. I think the real Lamar is back, and I hope those teams beat the hell out of each other.
I have a feeling Lamar is going to take a pounding from the likes of Heyward and Watt. The Steeler D front 7 gets after QBs. The blueprint on beating Lamar is out. If the Steeler D can collapse the pocket without giving up running lanes, which they’re good at doing, it’s over. Take away broken play big passing yards and make Lamar (try to) beat you with multiple completions per drive... I know you love him Swish but the guy just isn’t NFL accurate enough to do it. Get a lead... make him throw.
On the other hand Rudolph is playing in a check down offense. Take Conner away on the ground and on short passes and Rudolph hasn’t shown he can beat anyone. It’s early in his career but right now he looks easily confused. As he should for only starting a couple of games.
I hope they both lose. I certainly won’t be rooting for either of them to win.

I don't think Seattles TD should have been a TD, because in my mind, 2 feet were down, but, to me
to me, two feet have to be down after the catch is secured, not just at the point one's hands first make contact with the ball that is later secured on falling to the turf,
I can't think the player had any control of the ball at a point where his feet were down in bounds.
Earlier I saw something I don't remember seeing anytime before, A player went in motion backwards towards his own end zone, and wasn't set before the snap of the ball, (seattle on offense), I don't know how that could possibly been legal formation.
Seattles uniform color looks so bad, it almost appears like in the old days when tube televisions would have color or brightness issues with the picture.
If I were the Ref, I would have called Seattles TD incomplete, and if I were the reviewing ref, I would have too, and I really don't care who wins this game.
I’m in LA and nobody cares about the Rams because the Dodgers won.
Dodgers rule LA.
I was surprised to learn that after meeting my wife. She's from LA and when I would talk sports with her family it's clearly a Dodgers town first, Lakers second, and football is an after thought. A lot of them follow the Raiders.
I have an uncle (Browns fan) who lives in LA ... he honestly says there are more Browns fans than Rams/Charger fans
I lived in LA after being in Pittsburgh. I was there for the Rams/Steelers Super Bowl and there tons of people there rooting for the Steelers. LA folks love the Dodgers and the Lakers, everyone else, not so much

LA is a city that people have moved to from all over the world. Many American transplants bring their hometown allegiance with them. Portland is no different.
That was the week after we beat NO in the superdome. Great memories.
Brady was so pissed that day.
Man, I remember those 2 weeks. One of those "omg we've turned it around" time periods before one million terrible things happened once again to bring us back down to Earth. Freakin' Hillis and his fake strep :-/
Oh well, ancient history, we've got tons of talent now
OMG... Peyton Hillis... and that 'magical elf' or whatever elf play with the Oline standing around and that WR (Stuckey?) hiding behind one of them... good times.

It should've been 3 great weeks. Stuckey fumbled the ball away in OT vs the Jets, who were coming off an AFC championship appearance. We were well within fg range.
I posted in last weeks gameday thread that OBJ and Tretter were fined. No one was sure if the Ravens’ DB Humphreys got fined for choking OBJ. I’ve since found out he did. $14,000+.
1, what was he trying to do? 2, why did nobody try to stop him?
1.) Land on the table, me thinks. 2.) Probably because most of them were just as drunk as he was.
Yes. Apparently in buffalo, the thing to do while tailgating is breaking tables. Lots of YouTube videos showing people jumping on and being thrown onto tables attempting to break them.
I wasn't rooting for Pittsburgh, but was aware if they won our lead would be easier to hold. But seeing Pittsburgh at 1-4, makes me smile. I love listening to all the whining steeler fans I live around are doing. They are going to get a taste of what it is like to not have a QB.
Brutal hit on Mason Rudolph. BS roughing the passer call on Ola. Unfortunately fumble by JuJu but a good play by the Ravens D. At least Devlin Hodges (Duck) looked OK. Season over.
Thanks, I was wondering what had went down, as I just got home to see it...odd as Rivers is normally money, but he had that awful interception in the endzone...not the norm of Rivers.

Yeah and especially against Denver. They showed a stat after that pick, he has something like 34 TDs and 2 INTs in the red zone against them in his career with that being his 2nd INT.

Dude- your town is all kinds of messed up. I get the whole 'proximity to PIT' thing, but damn... it's still an Ohio town. It's like the entire town is always suffering from an identity crisis. Waaaaay too many Stoolz flags/towels/jerseys. They seem to be big Panthers/Nittany Lions fans, too. Frankly, I don't know how you can take it.
It must be like living in Pennsylvania (or in some neighborhoods, West Va.)
You get the "DawgTalkers Trooper of the Year" award... every year!
It will be interesting to see if there will be a color shift if CLE and PIT continue their current paths. How many jersey swaps do you think you'll see?
So apparently, the NFL allowing teams to challenge PI calls this year was strictly eye candy and never something they ever had any intention of overturning any bogus PI calls.
I have two large-screen TVs in my Man Cave [although I don't call it that] and Sunday Ticket. It's really cool for watching games on Saturday and Sundays. Some observations/thoughts:
--I didn't like seeing what happened to Rudolph. Dude was out before he hit the ground and his eyes rolled back in his head. Earl Thomas has been a great player, but he is losing points in my opinion.
--The officiating yesterday was ridiculous. So many bad calls and too many odd rulings after plays were reviewed. The refs almost made the KC/Indy game unwatchable.
--Buffalo is a solid team and their D looks legit.
--The Raiders over the Bears was surprising.
--Green Bay shredded the vaunted Cowboy defense.
--Washington's football team is almost as bad as the politicians who reside there.
--Philly is looking more and more like I thought they would before the season.
--KC's OL is really bad, especially since the injuries. Once Mahomes got hurt and he couldn't avoid the pass rush like normal, they were in trouble.
--Not sure why there were eleven 1:00 games and only two late afternoon games?
--Sadly, Rivers is really regressing.
--I think the Steelers kinda got hosed by the refs.
--Minni finally opened up their offense a bit and it allowed their play makers to make plays.
--Atlanta's D is a disgrace right now. But damn, Watson looked great!
--So, the Jets give Darnold all the first-team reps during the week and then make him inactive. I have no problem w/the latter occurrence, but why give him all the reps when you know that is status was uncertain?
I had the Redzone on most of the day, but only sat down to watch the Bears/Raiders and Colts/Chiefs games.
- Bears D didn't look so tough. - Once again, and we know how it feels, the Bears need a QB - The Colts running game was a site to see. The Chiefs couldn't do a damn thing about it. - That pass interference call on the Colts was embarrassing. Plus, they reviewed it and confirmed the call. Unreal! Someone said it above, but it sure seems like the league allowed the review of PI calls, but told the refs to never switch it. What a waste.

I think I heard there was an unexpected issue with his spleen. Post-mono complication?
I heard it was still a bit enlarged, but I didn't hear it was "unexpected." I had people at the house for a football party, so maybe I didn't hear it correctly.
Gase is not a good football coach. There was nothing unexpected about what happened. He was hoping Darnold would be able to go even though he hadn't cleared the final hurdle of testing his spleen. They even fitted him with a special pad during practice to protect it. You also had Darnold stating he doesn't want to die in a presser. Yet Gase rolled the dice and guessed wrong.
I have been saying it since last year but Patrick Mahommes is only Patrick Mahommes because of the weapons. Tyreke Hill is a field tilting talent that opens up a huge gap in the middle of the field for Kelce and others to eat.
It has really shown out the past few weeks as Mahommes has finally looked human.
THe past few times I’ve seen Mahomes he’s fallen in love with the rolling right, throwing across his body type throws ... and they are crazy. But I think he can’t rely on it too much
First, I disagree that Mahomes isn't special. He is. You can't go 16-0 in the NFL. Colts had their number last night. It happens.
But I'll say this...Baker gets criticized for leaving a clean pocket while Mahomes and Wilson also do it more consistently. The difference is they are athletic enough to still make something happen where more often than not Baker isn't. They get hailed for the magnificent play instead of critiqued for bailing too early.
I don't really know where I'm going with this other than it's an interesting observation. Baker still needs to stay in the pocket...he doesn't have the athleticism of those other two.
That loss for Mahomes was a game that was hard to stop watching. But he is human. Plays hard, too. Not a frustrated diva.
The bengals did not disappoint. Not sure yet how many players they lost in addition to the game. Trade lines are open. So what do you think of P-borg now? Still come at you and deliver a load.
The Bengals only have two games on their schedule that are winnable. The Jets, though Darnold will be back, and the Dolphins. The Bengals, the Dolphins, and the Skins are racing toward that #1 overall pick. The Skins new coach could ‘Rosen’ Haskins.? Will the Dolphins give up on Rosen already? I really think Dalton is done in Cinci. Tua in tiger stripes is a direct possibility.

I think the guy is on a different level and would elevate just about any team. He looked 'mortal' but he's still really good with a gammy ankle, no Hill and pass rushers in his face and OL worse than the Browns.
I hate to say it ..... but I think that Gase knew that he had no chance of winning with his backup QB. They have only scored 2 or 3 TDs all season long. I think that hope overrode any preparation for the backup.
There are a lot of bad teams in the league this year.
I was thinking this yesterday as I watched bits and pieces of several games. The whole league seems mediocre at best this year. Even the 'good' teams seem to be struggling a little. And the middle to bad teams are just plain garbage to watch.
Yeah, the whole league seems to have taken a step back. Sure the super-teams still are winning, but even many of them have shown weaknesses and some stumbling so far this season.

I don't know if I could disagree w/a take any more than this one. I mean......."WOW."
The "Wow" comment is about how you saying his weapons made him look better than he is. I'm saying he makes his weapons look better than they are.
Right now, he has multiple offensive linemen out and that was the difference last night. Dude is a special talent and I haven't seen a guy w/NFL ties say otherwise.
I didn't think he was all that accurate coming out of college. I was wrong. He holds the ball too long, but he is pretty accurate and great kid. I'm happy for him. Wish we had him.

I think we really screwed the pooch by not drafting Wentz.
