I don't know. I think some think everyone needs the practice and others think why risk injury and play 'em in a preseason game?

Is this a lose the ball in the sunshine, or sun in the players eyes type situation, also it's near noon, which side of the field, dawg pound behind them, or otherway, would face the sun in my eyes worse?

Felton with a return of a punt caught at his about own 8 and actually in traffic, 13 yard return, in, dangerous, well dangerous uh vision he would have had, kind of eyesight screened from a teammate, it was a punt they couldn't get in position, it's a bit chaotic,
it worked out good, no fumble, 13 yard return, there are positives.

TV break, expected to not see it

because NFL network, but WBNS Columbus probably knew better, bend rules if they had to,
only have a probably 50 year history here in Columbus of, well only since the AFC went to CBS but even before of knowing
Central Ohio is largest percentage of Browns fans and it's always unpleasant when they chose not to put them on TV

I am really liking this draft class so far.

It looks like the Browns have filled some holes and added diversity with Felton.
Posted By: leadtheway Re: Browns vs Giants Game Day Thread - 08/22/21 05:47 PM
That was an inexcusable read by keenum. Maybe a rookie makes that read but come on. Our offense this year is going to be nuts. Going to have to to because our defense is going to be really bad. We are still ways away with our front 7. Our lbs still bottom 3 in league and we don’t have anything at DT, I think Berry will make some moves there before KC
Posted By: THROW LONG Re: Browns vs Giants Game Day Thread - 08/22/21 05:47 PM
frown ton of time,
slow to arrive, best pocet all day, two there, interception.

Some pitchers throw fast balls, some pitches are like slower,
the ball speed is noticeably very slow on red zone Keenum attempts, both drives. OR! I've just got used to seeing Baker's fast ball types.
< I wasn't going to put an s on that word rofl gthoh
Posted By: leadtheway Re: Browns vs Giants Game Day Thread - 08/22/21 05:49 PM
Felton/Johnson going to be interesting. I like both but Felton looks like he might be one of steals of the draft. Sticky hands for a rb and can make quick cuts in the hole.
Posted By: leadtheway Re: Browns vs Giants Game Day Thread - 08/22/21 05:53 PM
Keenum doesn’t do anything quickly. Especially reading coverage

Loss of pass protection on the big sack by the bad guys. now
They brought too many, but, one of the two who broke free could have been better picked up I think, just an instant breakdown smother, ends a drive I think.

Demetric Felton back for punt return returns it a couple yards had space, I mean not immediately under pressure, I don't know what it says about Felton back on Punt Returns and not other names, but,
He may be top 2 in Returns behind D'Ernest Johnson.

Surely equal to anything I remember from DPJ last year on returns, or better, With the Exception!!!
It just,
feels like he's a risk to fumble the way he leans into contact on those returns, and it's not even a holding the ball away thing, it's just, he takes angles that sort of would leave a risk of fumble open on those returns, scared me both times, only 2, but it looked consistent.

Felton had another big play.
that son of a gun has too many big plays,
I can't critique
sond of a gun Davis Davion had a big play. Again?!

Son aof a Gun Why the heck is Schwartz on the ... Son of a Gun!!!

Rugumba Malik Mcdowell, Willie Harvey in the game.

Big sack defense on later drive.

Natson on the ensuing punt return is hit driven under immediately

McDowell on 4th string? Rugumba is the slower UDFA corner out of Miami Oh, slower than the other UDFA corner by 40 time who was waived injured out of Kansas st. Kiondre Thomas and not able to return this year, unless placed on IR after making the initial 53.

Connor DAvis a 1st down catch. in the game ish

Connor Davis, Jordan Franks, John Kelly Rb, Johnny Stanton Fb, Davion Davis wr? 4th quarter.
Khaderal Hodge, overthrown 3rd and 11.

bad play, son of a gun, One of the Davis' was open but the pass was like his arm had been hit, but nobody around to hit the arm, pass was a wobbling one winged duck

If you could like, Draft Davion DAvis in the 3rd round, and put
Anthony Schwartz in the Spring league, or running track whatever, then everything would make more sense! Who?

Penalty on Forbes, inelligbile downfield, Forbes is in on 4th string?

Bam, somebody broke 4 tackles,
Awww preseason!!

Nobody wants to be out there he breaks 4 tackles he bounced around like remember pin ball games where the those contact rubber band bouncers

Natson makes a leaping drop double forearmed it.

Yes, already. Groin. I don't know how serious it is.
Posted By: THROW LONG Re: Browns vs Giants Game Day Thread - 08/22/21 07:48 PM
Connor Davis is > Jordan Franks, and Chase McLaughlin makes a 49 yard field goal.
Posted By: SuperBrown Re: Browns vs Giants Game Day Thread - 08/22/21 07:52 PM
Late to the party, but RB Kelly looks really good, but I doubt he makes the team.

Bright Yellow, Frank n Stein shoes, the next big thing.

Lucky he didn't catch that one.

SACK!
Posted By: THROW LONG Re: Browns vs Giants Game Day Thread - 08/22/21 08:01 PM
Made a big case to make the team today.

Davion Davis Wr. (and I'm not saying that lightly)

and, D'Ernest Johnson early, and

Connor Davis as TE 4. and, Stanton again as better than Jordan Franks te,

then, Kicker McLaughlin.

and felton had 1st half returns Natson 2nd half, Natson with a drop in the 4th.
Robert Jackson with the initial penalty of a streak of penalties , and later a whack picked on by the refreees two penalties on one action both half the distance from the 2.

Hurt cause. Keenum with slow thrown balls.

Hodge with one negative 2 positives iirc.

Jordan Elliott, with a sack in the 4th quarter of preseason, Apparently he is alive, he didn't expire or just was in Nebraska or anything.

Curtis Weaver, makes a pressure looks winded, 4th quarter of preseason, frown

No 10 second runoff,... beacause, I mean it's new York and we're all biased. (said the refs)

LeCounte with another INT this week. He made us wait till the final play ... but it was a big play. laugh

No turnovers before the final play,

I think Davion Davis is a top 5 Wr on the team and I didn't yesterday!
At least I want to see more.
Posted By: bonefish Re: Browns vs Giants Game Day Thread - 08/22/21 08:29 PM

He shows lateral quickness and good pursuit.
Posted By: THROW LONG Re: Browns vs Giants Game Day Thread - 08/22/21 08:53 PM
Pros and Cons of:

being nitpick-y and if they should try filing a formal league protest over the referee call where 2 penalties were called on one action, on the 2 point conversion.

It's the preseason so, scrub! it!
But! it's an unfortunate injustice so it should be highlighted.

And Felton would have had a touchdown catch if the ball was on target, 25 yards downfield, beating a corner looked like, iirc, in the 2nd quarter.

There are some fans on this board longterm. tell me if this statement is false because I don't think it is.

Demetric Felton, is further along, at this point in his career, than Travis Benjamin, or Taylor Gabriel were?
True or False.

I thought the game was suppose to be on the NFL network?
Posted By: Bard Dawg Re: Browns vs Giants Game Day Thread - 08/22/21 09:49 PM
Me too. Picked up the Channel 5 feed out of Cleveland. Paper here said and the NFL channel said 1 PM on Sunday, but when I went to NFL Channel, it was Tom bloody Brady and the Lions.

Just aggravating me. Give me regular season. Soon.

Posted By: Ballpeen Re: Browns vs Giants Game Day Thread - 08/22/21 10:01 PM
I liked Kelly when he played for the Vols. Looks like he is playing for a job, be it here or somewhere else. I'd like to see us keep him but not sure there is room. I suppose we could keep 4 backs with Chubb, Hunt, and Johnson being the others.

Note, for roster purposes I am counting Felton against the WR room as in the end, that is how he will deployed 95% of the time. As a runner he is pretty average IMO.

Elijah Lee looked like he was playing to stay. Very active.

j/c...

Good to be back in my seats for first time since 2019 and to see Jim Donovan calling the game. Joe Thomas in the booth next to him.

LeCounte III has a nose for the ball. Didn't see much out of JOK. Looked like the Browns ran the same on the failed TD pass to Hollywood and then successfully ran it to Hodge.

Running game seemed to look good. Looked like they were trying to feature TE Franks to see what they have in him. Janovich to make the roster as an H-Back? Nice catch by DPJ on a ball thrown behind him.

You know what? Throw is a poor communicator and that's okay. He's trying and slowly getting better. BUT more than anything, he has every right to post his gobbledygook posts on an open forum. AND occasionally, he makes an outstanding point. Occasionally.

No doubt that ticks you off.

It's one thing when you know it isn't going to be on. It is totally different when you sit down to watch and another game comes on

It's hide the women and children hour around my house.

Back at home, Browns win week-long battle with Giants 17-13
Cleveland improves to 2-0 on the preseason.

By Chris Pokorny

https://www.dawgsbynature.com/2021/8/22/...th-giants-17-13

After two practices together, the Cleveland Browns and New York Giants wrapped up their week-long battle with a Sunday preseason match-up. In the end, the Browns held on for a 17-13 victory, improving to 2-0 this preseason with their backups.

I was at the game, thanks to a pair of free tickets I won at training camp from Cross Country Mortgage. My seats were in Section 322 (Standing Room Only), which was also billed as the “Cross Country Mortgage Landing.” I didn’t know what to expect from the area prior to the game, so I was pleasantly surprised to see that it was in the shade, with patio furniture and a nice little complimentary buffet. Below, you’ll see a video that includes a brief snapshot of the area we were at, as well as the final 48 seconds of the first half (which crazily ended up lasting over seven minutes, leading to no points).

As for the game itself, the Giants punted on their first possession, and then Cleveland went to work on offense with QB Case Keenum and company. The Browns were rolling, including runs of 14 and 18 yards by RB D’Ernest Johnson and a 12-yard end around by WR JoJo Natson. After getting into a goal-to-go situation, Keenum’s second down pass fell incomplete, and then he was sacked for no gain on third down to set up 4th-and-goal from the 7 yard line. Keenum found WR KhaDarel Hodge open to the left side for the score, giving the Browns a 7-0 lead.

The Giants responded with a lengthy drive of their own to close out the first quarter, with QB Mike Glennon leading the charge. RB Devontae Booker punched it in from one yard out to tie things up at 7-7

Keenum had the Browns driving on their next drive too, but on a 3rd-and-6 play from the 10 yard line, he was picked off in the end zone when targeting TE Jordan Franks. It was a really bad decision and throw, as you can see from this footage I shot:

In the third quarter, RB John Kelly hit paydirt from 5 yards out to make it a 14-7 game. Kelly had a big day with 9 rushes for 58 yards and 1 touchdown to go along with 1 catch for 21 yards.

Mid-way through the fourth quarter, QB Brian Lewerke got the Giants back in the game with an 8-yard touchdown pass to WR David Sills to make it a 14-13 game. Teams always aim to avoid ties in the preseason, so the Giants went for two. Their first attempt was an incomplete pass, but a facemask and pass interference penalty was called on the Browns. The retry put the ball at the half yard line, but Cleveland’s defense stoned the Giants’ running attempt

Cleveland got in range for a 49-yard field goal with just over two minutes to play, which K Chase McLaughlin drilled to make it a 17-13 game. It was up to the Browns’ defense to prevent a touchdown in order to seal the win. Cleveland had some chances to nail down the win, but the Giants kept extending it. The Giants ended up getting it to the 27 yard line with six seconds left for one crack at the end zone. Lewerke was in disarray and heaved the ball back across the field, looking for Sills, but a crowd of Browns defenders were there. S Richard LeCounte came down with the interception for the touchback.

Quick Hitters
QB Case Keenum: 9-of-12 for 74 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT.
QB Kyle Lauletta: 14-of-23 yards for 152 yards.
RB D’Ernest Johnson: 4 carries, 36 yards. 4 catches, 23 yards.
WR Davion Davis: 3 catches, 45 yards (4 targets).
WR KhaDarel Hodge: 2 catches, 21 yards (4 targets), 1 TD.
DT Malik McDowell: 1 tackle, 4 assists (5 combined). 1 sack.

And as a sweater myself, Joe needs to pay more attention to the color of his shirts. Some colors hide it better.

I know he is all fit and trim, but the day before a broadcast, maybe dehydrate a bit.

I turned on the NFL Network and they were showing the Titans at Bucs game. They were suppose to be showing the Browns game. This is the second time they did not show the Browns game and another game instead.

I live 170 miles from Cleveland. Don't know why it would be blacked out here.

Just speculating. I watched the NFL Network thru EyestreamTV and got the Browns game.

Lions were a different game but they were listed. Hate preseason. Paper is wrong and TV listing as well.

Thanks, Columbus!

The best line, IMO, was Hawk saying "we <the WRs> weren't very good at catching the ball, but we made up for it by not getting open."
