My friends and I have been debating who the best all time QBs are. Who do you think are the top 10 QBs all time?

I'll post my list in a little bit.

In no particular order...

Joe Montana
Johnny Unitas
Peyton Manning
Tom Brady
Otto Graham
Dan Marino
Steve Young
Brett Favre
Roger Staubach
John Elway

That's without putting a tremendous amount of thought to it.

Others worth considering
Dan Fouts
Troy Aikman
Len Dawson
Fran Tarkenton

I can really only list QBs that I saw live. And this is just overall talent, not wins or Super Bowl, which could be argued is a team stat.

Montana
Elway
Brady
P.Manning
Rodgers
Brees
Marino
Favre
Young
Warner or Aikman

This list is ordered, but not very strict.

Since I began watching as a kid, I'd say

1-7 Best ----
Montana
Young
Elway
Marino
Favre
Manning
Brady
Aikman
Brees

And some of these guys I saw very little of like Montana. And the older ones, I only saw late in their career.

And then there's a group of four: McNabb, Eli, Rothlisberger, Rogers (whom I'd consider below the rest, but two of them have to be numbers 9 and 10. I'm thinking Rogers and Eli)
EDIT: Punchsmack reminded me of Kurt Warner. That guy's one of my favorites. He's in the top 10, take out..... Rogers

Problem for us young folks is that a lot of people get put in these categories based on reputation. I don't really know how good Magic Johnson or Larry Bird were at basketball. I've seen some highlights. Just as I don't really know how good Walter Payton was. Jim Brown looked great in highlights. But everyone looks good in highlights, you really don't know unless you watched them play full games.

That's why I think it's funny when I'm talking to one of my co-workers who loves Larry Zonka. "Pete, the Zonk was a beast. You just couldn't take that SOB down. He's my favorite running back ever." lol. I never really even heard of that guy, and he's always going on about Earl Campbell. I guess he was quite a player too.

1. Johnny Unitas
2. Joe Montana
3. John Elway
4. Dan Marino
5. Peyton Manning
6. Tom Brady
7. Brett Favre
8. Jim Kelly
9. Otto Graham
10. Sammy Baugh

The best QB I've ever seen is Aaron Rodgers, but he just haven't enough playing time to make this list.

I guess names like Starr, Graham, Waterfield and Dawson
just to name a few are forgotten.

I think Warren Moon deserves a mention.

1. Johnny Unitas-----way ahead of his time. Smart, good arm, could run in younger years.
2. Joe Montana-----winner.
3. Tom Brady----intense competitor.
4. Dan Marino---would be higher, but never won Super Bowl.
5. Steve Young---emerged from the shadow of Montana and excelled.
6. John Elway---great arm, prototypical type of qb.
7. Peyton Manning---greatest regular season qb. Dud in playoffs.
8. Aaron Rodgers----kinda young for this list, but has every tool in the book.
9. Rodger Staubach----play maker, winner.
10. Otto Graham--won seven league championships, although some were in an inferior league.

Otto Graham and Montana are my top two.

Elway probably 3rd.

Then in no particular order:

Brady and Peyton.

Steve Young and Aikman (Aikman doesn't have the stats because of a run 1st offense but his accuracy was amazing).

Unitas and Starr from what I hear but haven't seen much personally.

That's 9. I would consider Baugh, Dawson, Staubach for the 10th spot.

Tough list to come up with...

1. Montana
2. Brady
3. Manning
4. Elway
5. Favre
6. Marino
7. Bradshaw
8. Graham
9. Kelly

Note that this list is put together by someone who is 32. The only older era guy I put in there was Graham, and that's because I've seen a lot of footage of him playing. Some of these other guys like Sammy Baugh, Johnny U, Roger Staubach, etc... I have not really seen.

I do think it's funny the beating Manning has taken the last 2 days. Just from my own Facebook timeline, a lot of Pats fans are throwing haymakers. Never mind the fact that your guy hasn't won squat since that defense split apart after their last super bowl win TEN YEARS AGO. It's funny the glass house that Patriots fan doesn't even realize he lives in.

Manning is a hell of a quarterback that played a bad game, on top of his whole team playing a bad game. Football is the ultimate team game. Manning could still be considered the best of all time if you want to argue it. Just by watching his entire career, he has been amazing. He played on some poor teams that did not play any defense at all.
