Been getting the Ticket since oh wow...I think since 2001

Direct TV or should I say ATT (Direct TV is going down the hill since ATT came on).

But ATT is not showing CBS any longer in their regular tv programming.

They still have the ticket. I use to speak to real Americans who understood the programming. Now its all from India or some out source and they don't have a clue what the NFL Ticket is.

I tried to tell them that half the games are televised by CBS will they still be carrying those games even though they will not carry CBS. My favorite team of course the BROWNS are in the AFC which is televised by CBS - they couldn't answer me...they couldn't understand what the heck I was talking about.

What are my options...surely after 19 years of getting the NFL Ticket there has to be another source to watch the Browns.

How and where and I don't know how to stream on my TV?

But I think I have to get rid of Direct TV half the TV I watch are programs on CBS Surely there are other Direct TV users out there with a similar problem.

What to do??? Any suggestions???

I hadn’t even thought about this but it’s a great question.

I really can't help you. I have Dish.

But, not just with dish, with any major company, I get sick and tired of having to push 1 for english, then being connected to someone that appears to have learned english the day before.
Posted By: Punchsmack Re: Direct TV NFL Ticket - 07/31/19 09:35 PM
For such a popular league, the NFL is the hardest to watch the games you want to see.

I normally just pay for the RedZone and be done with it. I'm not shelling out for Direct TV just for a few games a year.
Posted By: FloridaFan Re: Direct TV NFL Ticket - 07/31/19 09:36 PM
I imagine if DirecTV doesn't work it out with CBS and ends up not broadcasting games, they will be in breach of their NFL contract and lose it.

Which would be awesome, as I imagine the next contract wont be exclusive.
Posted By: Ballpeen Re: Direct TV NFL Ticket - 07/31/19 10:11 PM
I would imagine they will show the games. Just not anything else from CBS.

If not, guess you don't get to see the game
Posted By: Versatile Dog Re: Direct TV NFL Ticket - 07/31/19 11:53 PM
I think the only issue is if a game is blacked out locally. Of course, if you are local and the game is blacked out, you would not be able to watch it on regular tv or w/an antennae.

I think it will all be good. I wouldn't cancel just yet.
Posted By: Versatile Dog Re: Direct TV NFL Ticket - 07/31/19 11:56 PM
Did I explain that correctly? For example, tab is on Long Island. He won't have to worry about Brown's games being blacked out.

Wait....do we play the Jets this year? If so, is it in NY?
Posted By: YTownBrownsFan Re: Direct TV NFL Ticket - 08/01/19 12:15 AM
I would think that there is about 0% chance that they don't resolve this before the season starts. Neither side wants to lose viewers on such an expensive, yet profitable venture.
Posted By: YTownBrownsFan Re: Direct TV NFL Ticket - 08/01/19 12:17 AM
However, I should add that this is ATT, so rational thought and customer service are long gone from their business.

Since ATT bought DirecTV, their customer service has been atrocious.

EO, if you have a smart TV you just load the apps to stream, if not you need a streaming device like roku or amazon fire stick that plugs into an hdmi port on your tv.

This is a good recent article that will let you know who is out there and how they compare.

https://www.cnet.com/news/best-live-tv-streaming-services-for-cord-cutters/

I'm pretty sure these are all month to month too, so there's not much risk to pick them up for a month or two until ATT gets a deal done.

AMAZON FIRE STICKS

https://www.amazon.com/s?k=fire+stick

ROKU STICKS

https://www.amazon.com/s?k=roku+stick

There is also CBS all access:

https://www.cbs.com/all-access/

Free trial - $9.99 a month. It's an app you can watch on your phone, tablet, PC, or TV

This will not work though, if DirecTv doesn't have CBS. The bar will have the same issue.

CBS is not broadcasting on DirecTV due to a contract dispute.

Bars use Sunday Ticket - what Tab is saying, if the games on CBS will not be included on Sunday Ticket - there is going to be a problem watching them anywhere.

They’ll get it resolved long before the nfl season begins ...

This crap happens all the time ... they always get it resolved even though ATT has ruined DTV ... they’ll get it done ...

I’d be shocked if it even goes dark ... as of last night i was still getting CBS on DTV ...

Not a fan of DirecTV since being taken over by ATT and would cut the cord if it wasn't for the ticket.

I have a contract at a discounted price that is up in August. I called yesterday to see if I could extend my contract at the same price and get the ticket for free. I ended up at $25 more per month than I am paying now for programming, a one time bill credit of $99, and a one month off credit for the ticket max ($65.99). Not the best deal but I just don't feel like dealing with it anymore.

My general impression is you can get better deals if you are willing to do one of two things...1. Keep calling until you get a deal you like or 2. Cancel and wait for them to ask you back with the same deals new customers get. It usually takes about a month for them to ask you back, and being this close to the season I didn't want to chance it.

As for the CBS issues, my assumption is that it won't apply to the ticket.

If we are national televised game (2nd game after the Jets) that will get blacked out. Normally I wouldnt have to worry about it but finally we will be getting some 4pm games nationally Televised and I will miss.

Also like Judge Judy for instance is viewed on a L.I. Channel that runs a lot of shows most not on CBS but like on CBS its at 4pm well this LI station has Judge Judy on 10pm...well I taped it last night and when I went to watch it, it had the same BS not available stuff as normally on channel 2 (CBS up here) which got me to think about the NFL Ticket

Now I saw NFL . com has NFL stream for $99 including preseason games.

But I don' think I have a smart TV as I cannot get You tube to come on to my regular tv even connected by Wifi.

Was going to ask Cable if they could run a line from my computer directly to my TV and I can watch the Stream??? I got a lot of ports and stuff on my TV gotten like 10 years ago before smart TVs, 52 inch and works great.

real read on - thank you Vers for your suggestions, something are just more important than personal BS...lol laugh

Thanks OCD...people from my wifes work (Windowrama) told my wife about the fire sticks where you can watch Baseball, Basketball etc.

I'll probably be contacting you in a PM...I am tightest ever as I just got out of the Hospital with yet two more surgeries..I've been wiped out so can't just buy a smart TV.

But if I can watch stuff from the computer onto my TV like a screen why I was going to ask technical guys from Cable to see if they can run a line (not Wifi stuff) but direct line to my Optimum then I might make the switch. I got the phone and Optimum but not the TV stuff so maybe I can get a good deal.

thanks all...I'm also into my golf and the Fedex finals start next week of course on CBS...this sucks they got to fix this. Wish I could speak to a normal person from Direct TV who can tell me that this will soon be resolved but they couldn't tell me anything but repeat what was on their PAPER they were reading from...I got so frustrated that I told them "You are about as useful as [censored] on a bull hog" and hung up...not yelling just frustrated...lol laugh

I am saying that if the Steelers are on the same time as the Browns, I get the Steelers. If the Steelers are on a different time as the Browns, I will typically get the Ravens, or another team.

I think locally last year I got like 3 Browns games total locally.

That is the choice of the local CBS Affiliate. Apparently more people in your area would rather watch those two teams. The Sunday Ticket contract is now in place through the 2020/2021 season. So it's buy the ticket or go to a bar; or find some illegal feed somewhere. Those generally aren't very good though.

Posted By: PitDAWG Re: Direct TV NFL Ticket - 08/02/19 03:52 PM
I still get my local CBS station as well. My problem with DircTV is my local NBC channel because of the dispute with NEXSTAR.

As of July 24th the CBS blackout is not national. It is limited to "CBS owned stations". Which is limited to 14 markets.

AT&T chief says bid-ask on CBS retrans deal narrows; Nexstar gap still too wide

Mike Farrell
Jul 24, 2019

AT&T chairman and CEO Randall Stephenson said he believes the pay TV giant may be close to a compromise with CBS in its retransmission consent dispute, adding that the company is still far apart on sealing a similar deal with Nexstar Media Group.

CBS owned and operated stations in 14 markets went dark to AT&T U-Verse, DirecTV and DirecTV Now customers on July 19 after the two failed to reach a retransmission consent agreement. On a conference call with analysts to discuss Q2 results, Stephenson said that although AT&T submitted a counter offer to CBS five days ago and has yet to hear a response, he was somewhat confident a deal would be reached.

“On CBS, the bid/ask is not that wide,” Stephenson said. “We sent what I thought was a reasonable fair offer over five days ago, it’s been crickets, we haven’t heard anything. When you’re as close as we are, we find it a little interesting that we’re still sitting here dark and not having interaction with CBS. I’m guessing they are probably distracted with other negotiations right now, but I don’t know.”

Later he said that he was optimistic a deal could be reached.

“Hopefully we’ll just get them back to the table and get this thing closed,” Stephenson said.

He was not, however, as optimistic about a quick resolution to its Nexstar dispute.

Related: Saturday in the Park (Not)

About 126 Nexstar stations in 97 markets went dark to AT&T pay TV customers on July 3.

Stephenson said that Nexstar’s opening offer in the negotiations was a 100% increase in retrans rates. Although that demand has since been reduced to a 50% increase, he believes it is still too high.

“That one may take longer, but we'll just have to be resolute on this one,” Stephenson said. “We're not just going to impose those kind of price increases on our customers.”

He noted that unlike other retrans blackouts, customers appear to be taking advantage of other means to access over-the-air broadcast programming "at a pretty significant rate." AT&T has informed customers they can access broadcast content via digital antenna, the Locast app, and a device called the Local Channel Connector, which places broadcast programming into their programming guides.

“That one could take awhile,” Stephenson said.

https://www.multichannel.com/news/stephenson-close-to-deal-with-cbs-nexstar-may-take-longer

So with tab it could be one of two things. He could be in a viewing area where his CBS channel is actually owned by the network or it could be owned by NEXSTAR.

Hopefully that may help explain why we have CBS and he doesn't.

Like someone said, the dispute is not with CBS, it's with Nexstar, they own the CBS station in your market, where I live it's ABC. I know this because I work for Nexstar and I can't currently watch the channel I work for. What you can do is call DirecTV and tell them you are mad about it, and they will send you an over the air antenna, that's what I did. It plugs into your DirecTV receiver and comes up on your guide just like it use too. This works with your DVR too.

Just a little background, it's called a retrans dispute. DirecTV pays Nexstar a fee to broadcast their signal. DirecTV wants to pay a lower fee and Nexstar wants them to pay more. DirecTV's arguement is we bring your signal to the people. But Nexstar's arguement is we produce the content. Basically, it's a pissing contest.

Their English was ok it was their familiarity of the product they give us that was lacking.

The last one I talked to sounded the same as in their English. She gave me a $5 credit woopity doo and she was suggesting the hook up for antenna as I cut her off and read what was on the board to get...and she said yes, supposedly the norm was 8-10 working days but she put a rush on it for a 3-5 working days.

Her boss came on and he was elated that they had satisfied a customer I mean real excited as in they must have been getting nothing but complaints. I said this agent was the only one so for that has provided adequate customer service.

Still I'm going to see if I can get just the NFL Ticket in the future...nothing else. and secure a deal with Cablevision and see if possible and it should be cheaper.

The blackout only affects stations own by Corporate CBS, not affiliate owned.

But since the broadcasts recording the games are corporate, that may affect your games on Sundays.

Her boss came on and he was elated that they had satisfied a customer I mean real excited as in they must have been getting nothing but complaints. I said this agent was the only one so for that has provided adequate customer service.

Still I'm going to see if I can get just the NFL Ticket in the future...nothing else. and secure a deal with Cablevision and see if possible and it should be cheaper.

jmho
The don't offer just Sunday Ticket. You cant even get Sunday Ticket with their base package. you have to have the next step up - the Choice package in order to get Sunday Ticket

Again, not if Sunday Ticket can't broadcast CBS games (which it seems like they can).

https://www.directv.com/sports/nfl

It says every out of market game...

They arent going to sell you something and then say Oops We Lied.
I spoke to DirecTV today.

They said they will have CBS games even if the dispute is on, EXCEPT for the local CBS game. So if your local CBS channel is showing the browns, you will not be watching if the dispute continues.

Awesome! Thanks for doing the leg work.

That sucks since the Browns will be the national game alot this year.

I’d bet they just show the game on Sunday Ticket instead of it being blacked out.

I’d also bet that this issue gets resolved before the NFL season as CBS will want as many eyeballs as possible on its prized possession.

If it doesn’t, as others have said, you can get an antenna from Directv.
Posted By: Tulsa Re: Direct TV NFL Ticket - 08/06/19 11:36 PM
If the game is on your local CBS or Fox station, the game is blacked out on the Ticket, regardless of whether they come to an agreement or not.

That's what they should do considering the extra cost of the ticket but it sounds like Tulsa has some different info.

received the Atenna thing from directv...put it all together and then hit channel two and got the same bs...

Maybe I got to go into settings??? to switch from cable to antenna Fedex Sat/Sun need to get CBS to watch the weekend! (Golf) can't play right now, recovering from 2 more surgeries. Got to rehab once again hopefully this is it and I will have good balance and power again!

Posted By: YTownBrownsFan Re: Direct TV NFL Ticket - 08/07/19 02:39 PM

I did this with my system. (Dish Network) It displays my *missing* (there are several sub level channels that I don't get through Dish) locals right alongside the ones I get through Dish.
Posted By: Tulsa Re: Direct TV NFL Ticket - 08/07/19 02:43 PM
If you hook the antenna directly to your TV's coax connector, by way of a splitter, your TV's tuner will pick up those sub channels. You just simply won't be able to record those channels as they won't be going through your DVR.

Unfortunately it wouldn't be able to deal with the new resolutions very well. A 16x9 screen squashed into the 4x3 format may prove too funky to enjoy. Now you can purchase an OTA DVR through Tivo or Channel Master, but if it's just for the sub channels, I really doubt you're going to want to record those shows anyway.

I wanted the channels in the programming guide. Unfortunately, they don't display.

I can DVR programs from these sub channels. As you said, some are not worth recording, but there are occasional programs on these that I would like to record.

This is correct, and I had confirmed this when I spoke to them. She said if your team is playing on the local station and they are still in the dispute, you will not get the watch them if its CBS.

I live in a weird place where it’s between Buffalo, Cleveland, and Pittsburgh ... so I don’t regularly get the Browns (maybe 4-5 times a year) .. that’s why I always root for prime time or 4:25 starts (or for the Steelers/bills to get them too)

Thank you for your help...I think I have it all connected correctly I just have to go into the settings and do what that video link says to do. I'm getting there. Physically I am limited as I got a 5-6 inch incision on my groin and its got to heal some before I can bend correctly. Going to post op on Saturday with surgeon will get some OKs on what to do. Want to Swim, want to go to the gym, want to go golfing...want to work. Haven't worked since 2016 I have had about 14 procedures done not including my Chemo and Radiation for Cancer. I should be dead but I keep hanging on. The Lombardi Trophy as well as Grandchildren is what I'm holding on to. But I have become a burden on my wife as I was the bread winner...that is no longer. Also I think over 2 million in services has been done and most paid by Insurance still we have had to pony up over 100 grand of our own and that has pretty much wiped out all my savings.

Got to get back to work but must walk without much pain first! Do my rehab. I feel bad for my wife who was basically working for our benfits and not the bread winner.

Sorry for the opening up....needed to get it off my chest. I will bounce back, I'm a fighter and a survivor. I should have died in 1999 but survived the widow maker.

Thank you Tulsa...went to settings and followed the links direction the Directv took over from there and I now have CBS and it looks just the same and I don't have to switch back and forth I also recorded - Good clear reception also.

Will get to watch my Fedex Golf this weekend.

Can't wait to see the Browns Preseason game...well looking forward to the first couple of reps to view our starting O and D...keeping in mind the Redskins are probably one of the worst teams in the NFL!

Thanks again to all who have helped.

NFL app offers all the preseason games for 99.99 with their game pass. But you can get a free 7 day trial (I did this to watch the game last night). I plan on just creating fake emails to do a few more free trials so I get all the preseason games.

Shoot, the NFL couldn't pay me $99.99 to watch most of the preseason games, let alone me pay them that amount. They crazy. Good workaround by you.

I watched the highlights of our game this morning on YouTube, that's my level of involvement in the preseason.

I do like the Redzone channel though. Also, on my PS4, I could have paid for the NFL Ticket. I submitted that I was ineligible for Direct TV and it passed. I said I lived in a condo that wouldn't allow external dish mounts.

How so? I pay thousands of dollars to DirecTv and the NFL to watch the browns - only to have my bill raised, and services cut.

Slimy is having a contractual agreement (which I have) and not getting the channels I purchased when I signed that contract.

Slimy is taking advantage of a program the NFL (not directv) offers as a way to advertise a product that you are knowingly cheating them by using fake emails to get a new free trial every week.

where did I say I used different name, or pretended to be someone else there. Talk about reach. rofl

I use my name and same physical address, just a different email. As I said before, they could easily set it up so that using my name or address would exclude me from getting the free trial again, they do not.

I am giving them the exact truthful information each time I enter it. Unlike most of you old guys, I actually have and use multiple email address. All I do is give a different one. They are offering ME a free trial for each email I have. Nothing is being entered falsefully.

I notice you didn't address the fact that at first you claimed you were going to create fake accounts to get these trials then later said you already had existing accounts you were using.

Find me a case where ANYONE has been prosecuted using multiple emails

then

find me a case where people were prosecuted for using illegal streams of a game....

lets see which cases have more prosecutions

Don't you use streaming devices too, ill have to look back through the threads....but I recall you saying you did - I may be mistaken though.

I've never hidden the fact I tried Kodi. From what I read at the time the legalities of streaming were ambiguous at best. Selling and distribution was the hot button. I was no longer a DTV customer and had no other alternatives in purchasing the games, so I tried Kodi to see what it was about. A sports bar is better.

Living outside the market area DirectTV has a monopoly. And I would guess it represents a huge part of their and profit.

My son gets the games streamed to his phone.

I just pay like a dummy.

I used to go to Browns bars in Atlanta back during the Couch/Holcomb years. That was actually fun because the fans were all Browns people and rabid.

ohhhhhhh, so because you had no other alternatives, it was ok for you steal cable and blockbuster movies. There was not question about the legalities of Kodi - its been illegal distribution since the day it came out. Now who is trying to justify. I called DirecTV today to get an antenna in anticipation of the regular season starting and they said that they came to an agreement with CBS and the channel is back on (I guess this shows how much I watch CBS for things other than football).
Posted By: PortlandDawg Re: Direct TV NFL Ticket - 08/27/19 10:06 PM
I’m still without CBS. So I called my local CBS affiliate today and asked for the programming director. I left a message and the guy actually called back. Nice guy. Here’s what I found out for those of us in the Portland, Oregon market.

The Browns v Titans game will not be the local broadcast. Therefore Direct TV will carry the game. Koin 6, our local CBS station, is airing the Seahawks v Cinci afternoon game instead.
I can live without watching that.
Looks like I should be in the clear until we play the Ravens. That could be the first ‘big’ game that could draw a local CBS broadcast. Hopefully AT&T and Nexstar will get it worked out before then.

Is anyone else still not getting CBS through their Direct TV?
Do you know your locally broadcasted game for opening week?

I had to sunday ticket for many years, this will be the first year without it. I cut cable completely a while ago. Going to be in a bar or friends for games not on CBS which I can get thru smart TV.

As for streaming or multi sign ups with multi emails ? Really? Who cares. I'd do either of it meant seeing the Browns.

Can't wait for Game 1.

It's reliable.

How does it work?

Once you pay, the seller will send you a username and password. Log on to a device (laptop, firestick, apple tv, ps4, xbox, cellphone, etc), and happy streaming (Again, just make sure your internet is legit).

In most cases, its the sellers own account, and they are just trying to get extra money from it by sharing with others to help offset their own cost. Some others get accounts in ways I don't know.

Sounds fishy. Not judging, just sounds fishy.

Maybe it's the same as selling your username and password to Netflix. If they allow multiple instances of the same username, then it's "fine" (unless they have a rule that you're not allowed to sell your username, which I'm sure they do but it would be impossible to enforce).

What is the app you are entering the username and password into?

I find it ironic that Americans can have trouble getting the football package. It's no problem up here, eh? Got mine set up this morning, so I'm locked and loaded for a playoff run.

Since 2004, I've had the package every year but two: 2012 and 2017 (I didn't have it for 0-16, darn it).

There's no trouble getting the package.

People just don't want to pay for it.

Well I pay $30 per month during the season. It's a small price to see my team every week, plus whatever other games I want to watch on Sundays.

AT&T and Nexstar finally worked out a deal on the 29th. I now have CBS available. So should everyone else in the country now.

GO BROWNS!

Anybody with Directv have any info on losing ESPN before our Monday night game next week? They keep running short clips about losing it.

Saw the same thing.

I am also concerned.

I've been checking this thread to see if anyone had any info on this.

Living outside of Ohio and being a huge Browns and Buckeye fan, I want both ESPN and Direct TV.

It won't be next week. It'll be at some point later.

The NFL reddit thread has had excellent HD streaming links so far this season. I have directv and it worried me so I've been checking them just to see. So if you have trouble with any game you want to see head over there.

J/C

Directv offers streaming of sunday ticket, but only if you live outside of their area.

I called about reupping my service to my new home, and the prices have jumped significantly for their cable cost. Basically it would be about 80 a month for the first year, then like 140 a month for the second year (sunday ticket not included in second year).

That's also without internet included.

Def will be looking for an alternative.
