Cool. A friend of my son's is ranked #3 at 285. He's a senior this year and I really hope he takes it. I've watched him wrestle in jr. high and hs and he is just amazing. 4x state champ. He really got screwed out of a chance last year due to COVID, so this is it for him.
Great!

Got someone to root for!

Scroll down to the 285 class.

Apparently he wrestled some time this morning?

Matt Stencil is his name, from Clay H.S., and now at Central Michigan University.

(at least, from the info jfan gave, that's what I came up with)
Yep, it's Matt Stencel. That's his pic at the top of this story.

7 D1 Scores That Captured Our Attention

285 pounds — No. 4 Matt Stencel (Central Michigan) dec. No. 8 Zach Elam (Missouri); Stencel dec. No. 9 Brian Andrews (Wyoming) 7-1

The heavyweight class is loaded with high-level performers and Stencel has established himself as one of the best. These aren’t upsets, like other scores on this list, but the first two top-10 heavyweight clashes of the season reinforce Stencel’s status as an elite big guy.

You can track the tournament here. Sign in as a viewer, click on the NCAA Tournament, Click on Brackets, then click on the weight class. Each match is numbered, and if you click on that number it will tell you the mat and the time. (The link directly to the page won't work, that's why I edited the post).

His match tonight hasn't been assigned a mat yet.
Hulk Hogan would beat them all. Prove me wrong.

Great. If you get a "heads up" on the time, let us know.

I'm DVRing all of the tournament but now that I have a horse in the race I gotta watch it live. thumbsup

Little known fact. Every dinosaur skull ever found has a size 11 boot indentation on it’s temple. Chuck Norris wears a size 11 boot. Not saying he caused them to die off. I’m just sayin it’s something to consider.
Another local kid from Carrollton High School (30 minutes south of the hall of fame) wrestling for Army if anybody is interested.

Oh man. Matt was upset in the 2nd round tonight. It was something following him all these years. He's a good kid. He still gets to wrestle for 3rd place.
Sorry to hear. It's why they wrestle. Great friends of ours - their son won state last weekend in the 182, or 185 class. (I don't remember the exact weight class). Covid, and the whole thing being cancelled last year, prevented him from being a 2 time champ.

Easy going, nothing bothers him kind of kid. Until he's playing football, or wrestling. Then, he's a bad dude.
Good for him. It's really a shame what COVID has done to these athletes.
