Give me both road teams.

I like Jared Goff to have a great game - he’s headed home to Cali, and has won this game before. The Lions are a complete team and I think they at least cover the spread (Lions + 7.5) and may win outright.

While Baltimore looks unbeatable, I can’t bet against Mahomes and Andy Reid. Not to mention that Lamar sometimes struggles in playoff games. Chiefs win outright.
Posted By: Rishuz Re: Conference Championship Predictions - 01/27/24 01:36 PM
Detroit’s D isn’t very good. But Dan Campbell is a national treasure. Don’t really know who I want to win this one. Knowing that the Browns will be the last non expansion team never to appear in a Super Bowl if Detroit wins is depressing.

I also would never bet against Mahomes. Of course hoping for a KC win.
Posted By: bonefish Re: Conference Championship Predictions - 01/27/24 01:45 PM
The favorites are clearly the Ravens and Niners.

I want the Lions to win it all. Great Lakes team that has suffered like us.

I think the Ravens will win. The Niners will probably win but I am pulling for the Lions.

As much as I would hate it. I think the Ravens will win it all.
Posted By: Homewood Dog Re: Conference Championship Predictions - 01/27/24 02:05 PM
I'm rooting for the Lions because their history is just like ours. Their fans have suffered too. Nothing against the 49ers. In the AFC I'm sick of KC but there's no way I'll root for Baltimore.

Rooting for the Lions and Chiefs this week. Then I want to see Hank Fraley get a ring with the Lions.
Posted By: PitDAWG Re: Conference Championship Predictions - 01/27/24 04:11 PM
I'll certainly be rooting for the Chiefs and Lions but I don't think the teams I'll be rooting for will win.

This is the best possible scenario, but I'm firmly in the "the NFL is the WWE" camp and I'm fairly certain it will be Ravens-Niners.

Deebo Samuel has been cleared to play. For me that was a huge factor in this game. It's much easier when you have to focus on either McCaffrey or Samual, but trying to shut them both down at the same time is a monumental undertaking. His injury didn't look good last week especially when he came out in street clothes after leaving the locker room. The difficulty factor for the Lions defense just shot through the roof.
Posted By: Bull_Dawg Re: Conference Championship Predictions - 01/27/24 07:30 PM
I think the Lions being banged up on the interior of the OL could be an issue. Jackson being out at guard and Ragnow having 4 different body parts listed on the injury report aren't ideal. Kalif Raymond might also be a big loss, particularly on special teams. I wouldn't be surprised if Goff struggled. Armstead and Hargrave aren't the duo you want to be facing with a banged up interior.

Hutchinson might be able to give Purdy problems, and it could turn into a low scoring affair. I'd like the Lions' chances better if the game were being played in Detroit. Perhaps Jameson Williams and Gibbs can come up with some explosive plays.

I think Thuney being out for KC doesn't bode well, either. Roquan and Queen might cause problems on A gap blitzes. They might have caused problems without throwing a new face and potential communication issues into the mix. Pacheco being at less than 100 percent is also not good for KC's chances. I won't count Mahomes out, but this team didn't have the greatest surrounding parts for him before the injuries. Maybe Lamar will implode, but I don't think so.

Looks like the Super Bowl logo color conspiracy is going to play out to me. ...I can't wait to hear all the non-stop Harbaugh talk that would likely bring... sick

Kadarius Toney is out for KC. One less target for Mahomes.

Like this is even a question?

Home teams win BIG!

I still am rooting for the Chefs against the Rats.
Posted By: Milk Man Re: Conference Championship Predictions - 01/28/24 01:07 AM
From a betting standpoint:

Chiefs +4.5
Lions +7.5

What I want to see happen:

Chiefs win
Lions win

Lions win Super Bowl
I'm guessing it'll be the Taylor Swifts vs the 49ers

The Ravens/Chiefs game.... Man, it should be a great game! It may even turn out to be better than the Superbowl. Who will win? I'm gonna guess the Ravens, but I wouldn't bet money against Patrick Mahomes. I'm up in the air with this one.

Lions/49ers? I'm gonna go with the 49ers, although I hope the Lions win it all. They remind me of the Browns a bit, that's why.

Overall I'm just hoping for good, competitive games here.

pretty great opening for KC
Posted By: 3rd_and_20 Re: Conference Championship Predictions - 01/28/24 09:09 PM
Right now it looks like KC's got this, or at least they have the edge at this point (3:46 left before halftime.) Lots of game to play though.
I feel like that was the most Brownsian turnover I’ve seen in a long time. God I love that it happened to the old Browns

Well, KC will play either DET or SF
Love it! Not a lot of love for the chiefs in my household but I wanted the Ravens to lose so bad. And I love HOW they lost. Delicious.

But I almost never get both my picks so I’m (statistically) a tad less optimistic about the Lions now. I went into the weekend feeling like if there was an upset, it was much more likely to be the 9ers losing than the Ravens. If the Lions lose I officially don’t care about the Super Bowl. I would root ever so slightly more for the 9ers and Mr Irrelevant.

The Browns likely could not have beaten any of these 4 teams.
Posted By: DeisleDawg Re: Conference Championship Predictions - 01/29/24 02:57 AM
With their starters or their practice squad back ups that got them in the play offs ?

Either way, I wanted the Browns to win
Posted By: RememberMuni Re: Conference Championship Predictions - 01/29/24 03:08 AM
Well friends, I trusted my instincts and picked the following:

KC to win outright and for Mahomes to throw a td.

Detroit to cover.

Turned 14 bucks into 49 bucks.

I’d like to say that the 49ers steamroll the chiefs but not just yet.
Posted By: Homewood Dog Re: Conference Championship Predictions - 01/29/24 03:24 AM
Detroit had a great season and should be commended for it just as we did. However, after a well-played first half Detroit reverted back to the Detroit we all have known since forever. Tough way to end a great season.

No one is beating KC. This is Brady/Belichek type stuff going on.

Are people actually considering betting against Mahomes in the Super Bowl?

I'd only consider betting against the Chiefs if more money was on them. Vegas always wins.

Plus, there won't be any more games for Taylor Swift to show up to if KC wins.

But there are too many variables and too much BS for me to ever really bet on sport outcomes.
Posted By: Dawgs4Life Re: Conference Championship Predictions - 01/29/24 01:19 PM
SF vs KC is boring, but will be a good game IMO

I think SF is a bit better, but never count out Mahomes obviously

Kinda fun to look at the predictions after the fact.. I was hoping for anyone but the Ravens. I got my wish.

Man, Detroit choking in the second half of Conference Championship brought up a lot of bad memories for me, a Browns fan.

That 4th and 3 playcall with Goff in the spread, IMO, was among the dumbest playcalls I had seen this season.

They already beat the 49'ers this season on Oct. 15th. They also beat the Ravens on Nov. 12th. Where were you?
Posted By: bonefish Re: Conference Championship Predictions - 01/29/24 05:13 PM
So glad to be wrong.

I felt bad for the Lions.

The Ravens deserved to lose. You cannot let emotions rule you. Their composure was horrible. Cheap shots.

Lamar will win the MVP. However, he once again has failed in the playoffs.

There is a formula to beat Lamar and KC used it. Pressure and mixed coverage. At times KC blitzed him. Sometimes they played man, other times zone. Sometimes a combination. They brought pressure from different places. Lamar got edgy and forced things. He abandoned footwork and made bad throws.

I am glad they lost.

I do not care who wins the Super Bowl.
Posted By: PitDAWG Re: Conference Championship Predictions - 01/29/24 05:17 PM
They were hoping regular season Lamar would show up but playoff Lamar came to play yesterday.

I hope KC wins the SB just to pi$$ off all the Taylor Swift haters. rofl

I was here. And, no, they would not have beaten them in the playoffs, imo.

I see. So they were perfectly capable to beat them before but could not beat them now? Got it.

I'm sure Jim Schwartz took note of KC's defensive Scheme against Lamar.

I don't listen much to pop music so, I do not know Taylor Swift's music.

I have heard her interviewed. I like her. She seems like a good person. She is cute and popular. I do not understand the animosity toward her.

Kelce is a great player from Cleveland Heights. Good looking pair who are both loaded and young. Enjoy your lives together and ignore the outside noise.

You have that backwards. The Chefs looked at what we did to the Rats.

We defensed Lamar well enough when we ate their lunch in Baltimore this year.
Posted By: PitDAWG Re: Conference Championship Predictions - 01/29/24 08:12 PM
I suppose of you consider 31 points well enough. That's how many points they put up in the game the Brown won against them while the Browns scored 33 points. I've never considered winning by 2 points as "eating their lunch". In the previous game last season the Browns gave up 28 points to the Ravens. By contrast the Chiefs gave up 10 points to the Ravens. So I'm pretty sure Schwartz was writing some notes down. That's how coaches become great. They continue to learn.

Detroit blew it and choked big time. They played that whole second half tight as a drum. Happy the Ravens lost!

Yep. My wife asked, before the snap "what do you think?"

"I get that's who they are, but I do not like it at all. You have to keep putting points on the board and never give this team a sense of momentum that they don't earn themselves."

When they passed on the FG and went for it the first time in the 4th quarter, I got up, handed her the remote, and went to finish my book. They were up by 14 but I knew it was over.
Posted By: Hammer Re: Conference Championship Predictions - 01/30/24 03:07 PM
said the same thing. 2nd half starts and niners drive down field and lions hold them to FG. Lions up 14.

Lions get the ball and drive down field and have a chance to get those 3 back an up 3 scores with a quarter and a half left in game. Change momentum, etc. Now nobody knows if Badgely makes the FG - 45 yarder or so. But man, take the points, get mo back - no brainer for me. The risk was not worth the reward in my opinion , Danny Boy.

Unfortunately, I think it was more Monken's horrible play calling than anything the defense did. Although, I suppose maybe they figured out that Monken calls horrible plays that don't work against certain looks, just kept calling those looks, and Monken kept calling the plays that didn't/don't work.

And this is where it becomes more complicated actually. I certainly agree with you and those that say they should have kicked the FG. It would continue to keep your lead up where your opponent needs three scores. But analytics says you should go for it in that situation. This is one example of why I don't think teams should rely too heavily on analytics.

Chiefs coach Andy Reid refutes Kadarius Toney's claim that team 'made up' his injury

Kansas City ruled the receiver out for the AFC championship game due to a hip injury

The Kansas City Chiefs announced Saturday that Kadarius Toney had a hip injury and wouldn't play in the AFC championship game against the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday.

Toney fired back in a brief Instagram Live clip, saying the Chiefs lied about his injury designation.

"Man that s*** crap," Toney said Sunday. "I'm not hurt. None of that s***. Save that s***. ... On God, not hurt. None of that. It go from hip to ankle to this to that."

Head coach Andy Reid addressed Toney's claim after the Chiefs defeated the Baltimore Ravens in the AFC championship game on Sunday. The consequences of that accusation could've been substantial for both Reid and the team as the league has previously fined organizations for improper injury information.

"He's been on the injury report, [so] that part is not made up by any means," Reid said on Monday.

The embattled receiver, in theory, should be elated after celebrating the birth of his first child — a daughter — on Saturday. Instead, he's taking the Chiefs to task on social media.

Yes, the same Kansas City team that stood by him as he struggled throughout the 2023 season. Whether it was the multiple dropped passes he had in the season opener versus the Detroit Lions or when he deleted his social media following that game after he received an avalanche of criticism.

Kadarious Toney is going to run himself right out of the NFL. The guy has been garbage as a receiver and this will not do him any favors. Dumb.
Posted By: lampdogg Re: Conference Championship Predictions - 01/30/24 10:45 PM
Uh yeah. He might now be ruled out for the Super Bowl, plus any other KC games moving forward.
Not wise.

Toney is an idiot
Posted By: hitt Re: Conference Championship Predictions - 02/02/24 06:58 PM
The real definition of a football idiot/s is/was whoever supported drafting Johnny Manziel. They knew he was an alcoholic and probably drug user AND still drafted him. Got to love the idiots involved in that one- fell in love with what he did to Alabama and winning the Heisman and thought it translated to NFL......STUPID in all CAPS.

Joe Thomas's comments on when he knew Johnny Football wasn't going to make it in NFL were so revealing they make you want to CRY. He stated during OTAs the Browns couldn't find their Number One draft pick- he was LOST, gone on a binder----Now that's special.

Championship Predictions-- JMHO, How can you bet against KC---they have lots of weapons, a supreme QB, and more than decent Defense.....my money is on them....PLUS, you're getting couple points--what is not to like.....GO Chiefs.
