Things are actually worse than ever in Cleveland, where even a surprising seven-win season has been marred by the unraveling of the staff, the roster, and any faint hopes that for once, finally, this franchise might be on the upswing. Haslam has brought nothing but misery and instability to the franchise, at the same time a federal investigation into fraud charges was ravaging the business his father created, Pilot Flying J.

How bad it has gotten in Cleveland

The culture in the Browns building is toxic, I'm told. Morale is beyond low. If you can flee, you are fleeing. There is no shortage of individuals throughout that organization who would, like former offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan, get the hell out of there if at all possible. There's an overwhelming sense of dread about the future and a fear that, come the end of the 2015 season, Haslam will do the one thing he has managed to do with any consistency during his three-season reign -- that is, blow up his entire building once again and fire everyone, in essence blaming all but himself for his sweeping failure.

Oh but when I said your front office is the cause of your problems I was told to to be quiet? When I said their is a cloud of bitterness and despair around Cleveland I was mocked?

Manziel's presence in Cleveland is born of Haslam, sources said. The owner wanted to make a splash, add some pop to his franchise, sell some tickets and jerseys. "That was a business decision," said one source with direct knowledge of the situation. "That's on the owner."

Sooooo. When I said that the owner is not interested in winning. . He is only interested in lining his pockets with your hard earned cash. I told you he constructed this circus to keep you looking for the NEXT BIG THING. Keep you excited for the next superstar that will bring the Clowns out of the basement of the Afc North. The truly sad thing is that Clown fans will avoid this thread because they do not want to face the truth. Not saying its your fault totally. .But your team SUCKS. And it starts from your corrupt front office.

They do NOT have your best interests at heart. They do NOT want to build a winning culture. They DO want to make money first. If they happen to win while doing that cool. But it is not there priority.

Let us rally my pound puppy friends. Let us rally and take down your rancid regime.

Quite the opposite my gravy train loving Dawg. I would take the fight to management. You see. . I admire you Clown fans. You truly are Dawgs. You are loyal. But dont let the loyalty blind you friend. There are ways to put pressure on your corrupt front office. There are ways to let your displeasure be shown and heard in regards to the bullcrap antics they have been pulling. . WHILE fully standing behind your team.

Its better than the alternative. .Which is sitting here every offseason saying other teams suck. . which is untrue. The truth is that YOUR team sucks.

So if you are tired of your team being a laughingstock then I say HOWL your displeasure. And turn the Clowns into the Browns once more.

Sticking with your team? STICKING with your team? Being to lazy to tell management that they are sucking while making them rich is your idea of sticking with your team?

And some wonder why the Browns are called Clowns.

No my tick infested friend. What you are doing is the absolute WORST thing you could do for your team. You enable a criminal ownership. You willingly buy into their scam that they are making a contender year after year. You buy the merchandise. You sell out the stadiums. You make your owners rich. Which. . to be honest is there job.

They are employers after all. . But you can not honestly say. . in this time of parity in the NFL. . That it is just blind dumb luck that the Clowns have not been successful since they came back. Every team in the NFL has up and down seasons. Except for the Clowns. It is always down.

Why is that? I will tell you why. Your front office is not interested in building a champion. They are interested in your grubby dollars. And instead of calling them out on it. You will sit here act like your on the cusp of greatness. . . .Whats the Clowns mantra? Wait till next year?

Look at the state of your squad. . The turmoil that seems to follow. . All teams deal with adversity. But they bounce back. Look at the Ravens. They had the whole Ray Rice Fiasco last off season. . Yet they still made the playoffs and beat the AFC North champs in the playoffs.

Ah my poor confused Steelers friend. Change does not happen over night and while it is true that we have been screwing up since we returned in 1999, we are now on the right path. We are building toward the future instead of expecting instant success. So sit back relax, and enjoy watching the Browns improve at the same time the Steelers start to tank.
Unfortunately, The Clown is correct. This POS franchise is going no where. I used to admire the optimism of some people on these boards but now I think they are in drug induced euphoria, have untreated mental illness, are totally ignorant of our lackluster history, or would find a tremendous upside in even the 9/11 disaster. This franchise should have never returned and Cleveland would definitely be better off without them.
Please feel free to go root for the Steelers Dean.

You are EXACTLY correct! Change does not happen overnight in the NFL.

But even you my dimwitted friend must admit that the NFL is built for parity. You are actually rewarded for subpar play by getting higher draft picks. You are rewarded with compensatory picks if you lose a player to free agency. You are given a weaker schedule the next year if you were not as competitive the year before.

Each year we hear about the teams that have turned it around and are the surprise in their division. But only one playoff appearance since 99?

Two playoff winning seasons since 99?

Multiple first round BUSTS?

It is truly amazing when you look at it. Barely competent play. Like I said before. . It is not dumb luck that the Clowns have not had success since they have come back. Two winning seasons friend. No playoff wins friend. Multiple fiascos friend. Bust after bust. . etc. . . There is something more sinister at play. Borderline demonic actually.

So. . you are NOT on the right path. You are not building towards the future.

Unless you count the future as the basement of the AFC North.

For years the Clowns have been saying they are almost there. "Wait till next year" And for years I have been saying. Poor Clowns. . Poor Clowns Indeed! frown

If you wish. The Steelers from the mid thirties till the seventy one SUCKED. No spin. No smack. They sucked. They righted a wrong, and now are the most successful team in the modern football era.

Can you honestly say that since 99 till present that the Clowns SUCK? That they have by far been the worst team in our division? Clowns fans bluster and talk loudly while getting drunk at the Muni lot. But deep down the ether is burning your souls slow. Your team SUCKS. . currently. Are you man enough to admit it?

If you are not. . Then I know I still have work to do. Because if you cant even admit the state of your current team. . Then how the heck can you be put in a position to help change it for the better?

The Cleveland Browns Are In A Bad Place

Quote:
INDIANAPOLIS – The Cleveland Browns are in a bad place.

Teams miss on draft picks all the time, or go through multiple losing seasons, but nothing screams to the Browns’ apparent dysfunction more than the general manager apologizing at the NFL scouting combine for sending texts to the sideline during games.

Browns general manager Ray Farmer said it was his mistake to send texts from the press box to the sideline during games last season. That’s against NFL rules. The texts reportedly questioned play calling and personnel decisions. That’s against common football decorum.

Offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan left for the Atlanta Falcons after the season, and it has been widely speculated that the texts played a part in that. Quarterback Brian Hoyer, who is a free agent, said the controversy might affect his decision whether or not to return to the Browns.

The NFL is investigating what happened. Farmer said he has apologized. Only in Cleveland.

“It was me," Farmer said. "To that degree, I have apologized to the people in the building, coach (Mike) Pettine, (Browns owner) Jimmy Haslam, the rest of the football staff.

“I take full responsibility for myself and my actions.”

It’s fairly amazing that any number of Browns stories that would usually be a big topic of conversation at the scouting combine – Josh Gordon’s year-long suspension, Johnny Manziel entering a treatment facility, the Browns’ lack of an obvious option to start at quarterback, 2014 first-round pick Justin Gilbert’s immense struggles as a rookie – were not even the main topic with the general manager. The NFL might end up fining the Browns or even taking away a draft pick over the rule violation.

“It’s not an excuse, but sometimes your emotions get the best of you,” Farmer said.

The Browns supported Farmer through the texting controversy. On Wednesday, Pettine said he was upset with Farmer initially but they have worked it out. Farmer said he and Pettine have and will work well together.

“No relationship mending (is needed),” Farmer said. “Coach Pettine and I work very well together. We’ve had our conversations, we’ve gone through what that was.”

There were football questions around him discussing text messages. He was asked in multiple ways if Manziel could be the team’s starting quarterback in 2015, and he refused to give that vote of confidence, speaking only in platitudes about everyone on the roster competing for spots. Farmer said the team does have a plan at quarterback, although he wouldn’t divulge it.

Browns fans deserve better than seeing their team become a laughingstock. There’s a lot of corrections that need to be made with the Browns, and it was summed up by the general manager standing at a podium trying to explain himself and why he was undermining the coaching staff with text messages to the sideline during games.

“Anytime you make mistakes, it is humbling,” Farmer said.

I will repeat this again. .

Browns fans deserve better than seeing their team become a laughingstock.

I have literally been saying this same thing for years. And its finally getting national attention. It is finally getting the attention of the Clowns fans. Take a look in your own vaunted Pure Football forum. There are still the Clowns Kool-Aid drinkers. Most likely agents of Haslem. But more and more Dawgs are showing their frustration. They are noticing that the Clowns Front Office does not have their best interests at heart.

Lets continue to bring awareness folks! Until we win. . I will say Poor Clowns. Poor Clowns Indeed! frown
Elmer, Elmer, Elmer have you ever heard me say we were great since coming back in 1999? Let me answer that for you my slow witted friend. NOPE just look at our record. yes we have sucked but as i said earlier we are on the right track to turning things around. I am now buying stock in Puffs as the tears that will be soon flowing from the Steeler fans when it's their turn to wallow in the basement for a while will allow me to retire in a comfy manor and enjoy myself.

Excellent! You admit that your team since 99 SUCKS. You admit there is a problem. So you are halfway there my mange infested friend.

As to your other points. Sigh.

The focus on the Steelers is un healthy. They should be the least of your worries or concerns. The Clowns have been saying for years. Literally years. . That there time is near and they cant wait till the Steelers are in the basement. ( Another variation of Wait till Next Year )

How could we forget 2013 when the Steelers started out 0-4. Clown fans were giddy. Delirious with glee. Why? Cause the Steelers were struggling? How did that year turn out for you though?

Both first round picks? Busts
Starting QB? IR
First year Coach? Fired
Place in the AFC North? Basement.

Meanwhile the Steelers surged and finished without a losing record. You see my Heartworm medicine taking friend. . Acting demonic and hoping for the downfall of others only leads you to ruin.

And people wonder why I say Poor Clowns. Poor Clowns Indeed! frown

The difference my canine buddy is you and your Clown brethren are focused on the negative. Focused on being bitter. Focused on bringing negative energy and wishing the downfall of a team that is actually not the reason that your team sucks. I only wish to help the Clown nation

Its funny actually. You spend time trying to "smack" talk teams that are BETTER than yours.

But you are too scared to use that energy towards attacking the regime that is responsible for keeping your squad in the basement of the AFC North where it is cold and damp and chills to the bone.

That is pretty demonic behavior if you ask me. So try to stop the attacks on teams who job it is to try and beat you. And attack the front office who is supposed to help. . but are actually the ones beating your team before they even have a chance to step on the field.

Poor Clowns. Poor Clowns Indeed! frown
R.I.F. Elmer Do you see me dwelling on the negative? Go look up my posts so you can see your still shooting blanks around here.

BTW if you want to see fans go off the deep end just pay attention to Steeler fans when they lose two in a row. When yinz lost 4 in a row nobody and I mean NOBODY wore their Steeler gear around here. They all threw in the towel and quit even watching the games. They whined and cryied more than a nursury full of babies in the hospital. It was funny as hell.

In a thread that is about informing and helping Clown fans. You insert negative demonic taunts towards another team. . . Why though? Have I taunted your team? No. I expressed my displeasure with your front office and their tactics of keeping you under bondage while keeping them rich.

I will say this though. The Clown fans have been supporting a blatantly corrupt owner. . Makes one think they enjoy being in the basement of the Afc North.

Hmmm. What a distressing thought. . Poor Clowns. Poor Clowns Indeed! frown

Quote:
The crystal ball says: The Browns' fans deserve better than what this organization has given them this century. I just don't see how it works this year unless Manziel turns a corner — and I haven't given up on that possibility. McCown is a career backup who has somehow coaxed two nice contracts from teams based on that 2013 small sample size, so I don't see Cleveland doing much in the passing game unless Manziel does it. Especially with those weapons. They'll win a few games with the defense and the running game, but not enough to be in playoff contention.

I have been literally saying this word for word. The Clown fans deserve better!

Quote:
Achilles heel: The Browns won't scare anyone in the passing game. We might look back at the 2014 and 2015 drafts, with last year's class of receivers that might be the deepest ever and another exciting receiver class this year, and wonder how in the heck the Browns didn't land one of the stars. The only receiver the Browns have drafted in the last two years, despite knowing before each draft that Gordon would be suspended, was Washington State's Vince Mayle in the fourth round this year. I don't get that. Now Cleveland has Dwayne Bowe and Brian Hartline, two solid veterans who opposing defenses won't lose much sleep over.

.
It reeks of shoddy ownership that they have not picked one of these great young wideouts in the draft. smh

I hate to say I told you so but. . . . .

Lets see some first game reactions of some Clown fans after being hyped up in the offseason by the Clowns regime.

Quote:

Our passing game scares no one. We have no weapons and we have no quarterback. Every single team is going to see this, hear us talk about how we want to run the football all day and force us to do something else... and I don't know that we have the guys in the backfield that can beat a rigged numbers game.

It's almost arrogance the way they say they're going to impose their will on their opponents without any of the real tools to do it.

I cannot argue with anything here.

Quote:
Offensive line sucks. Just sucks. Not really much room for running and the pass protection was a joke. I know the Jets are stacked defense wise, but eh.

Our defense, sucked. At least under Ray Horton, we were able to suffocate the run.

Joe Haden got burned and torched all day long. All freaking day long, he played a joke of a game.

We made Fitzpatrick look better than Peyton Manning.

All our big plays wiped away with flags. Many I recall on Alex Mack.

... all and all, I didn't even bother to watch the full game. Turned that crap off.

Sad but true.

0-16. The Browns without a doubt are horrible. Where is this GREAT D everyone has been pimping?? LOL! Where is this GREAT OL everyone was pimping? I had my reservations on both. What we do have is the worst organization in the league and there is no way to sugar coat it.

A frickin rookie head coach who takes over for a 4-12 team takes Pettine and co. to school.

PATTHETIC........0-16.

Sadly this is all the Clown fan want. A chance to taste Lombardi sweetness in their lifetimes. There is a whole generation of Clown fans who have been ROBBBED of this by your corrupt owners.

Mr. Hunter you are giving the Clowns too much credit. I'm tired of hearing "they sucked since 99". They sucked before the move, losing 6 straight to the Steelers before they were sent packing to Baltimore.

In 1990 they were 3-13, followed by 6-10, 7-9, 7-9, 11-5, and 6-10.

Then they got the hell out of clowntown and won a Super Bowl...and the new browns simply picked up where the old browns left off.

This could be irony or this could be projecting.
#1. Who is Elmer??

#2. Who I root for does not really matter. What matters is the mindset of the Cleveland fans. What matters is that your crooked front office no longer gets away with robbing the fans blind. What matters is that the once proud Browns organization gets restored. It's good for the Nfl.

I am so tired of Steeler fans coming here and rubbing our noses in it. I have a good feeling about next season. The Pittsburgh Steelers history of cheating

Link

The New England Patriots, their quarterback and head coach have been marred in the recent DeflateGate scandal to the point of it being overkill. Nonetheless, some wise, and extremely bored, football fans took it upon themselves to dig into the NFL history books and find every possible scenario each NFL team has been caught cheating in some way, shape or form.

Believe it or not, the Pittsburgh Steelers are listed as the second team of all 32 in terms of biggest cheaters in NFL history. Before you click on the link to take you to YourTeamCheats.com and tell the authors how you feel, you should know a few things about the site. First, obviously the Steelers would have more cheating claims than a team like the Baltimore Ravens as the Ravens haven't been in the NFL as long. Also, some of the claims against the Steelers are very mundane and to the point of sheer assumption.

Take a look at some of the highlights of the Steelers' claim to fame in the cheating game:

Impedegate (2013)

TEAM: The Pittsburgh Steelers

SUMMARY: With 6:26 left in the third quarter of their 2013 Thanksgiving night game against the Pittsburgh Steelers, Baltimore Ravens receiver Jacoby Jones took a kickoff back and had to alter his path because Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin had stepped onto the field. Jones returned the kick 73 yards, but was tackled by defensive back Cortez Allen on the play, and Baltimore had to settle for a field goal on the drive.

Said NFL VP of Officiating Dean Blandino: "In that instance, the referee could basically penalize the team whatever he deems equitable, which could include giving the Ravens a touchdown. That's not the case here, but certainly coach Tomlin was in the white. He should have been flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct."

In December 2010, the league fined the New York Jets the same amount after a sideline wall established by strength coach Sal Alosi resulted in Alosi tripping Dolphins cornerback Nolan Carroll. Alosi was suspended indefinitely by the team and resigned in January 2011.

VICTIM: Baltimore Ravens (Specifically, WR Jacoby Jones)

PUNISHED? Yes

PUNISHMENT: Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin was fined $100,000 by NFL Executive Vice President of Football Operations Ray Anderson for stepping onto the field during his team's 22-20 loss to the Baltimore Ravens. The Steelers could have lost 2014 draft picks if the play had impacted the Ravens 2013 playoff standing. It didn't.

Cheapsgate (6x since 2010)

TEAM: The Pittsburgh Steelers

SEVERITY:scale

SUMMARY: Players who freely use illegal hits as part of their game give themselves an unfair advantage versus those who play by the rules. A team's cheap shots fined below $25K are not counted at all. Individual cheap shots are penalized very lightly (0.25 cameras per $25K fine). It's only when a team puts together a string of cheap shots that the overall severity rises to a significant level. I'm looking at your Detroit.

Example 1: $35K fine with no suspension = 0.35 cameras. Example 2: $55K fine and one game suspension = 0.55 + 0.75 = 1.3 cameras. Example 3: $125K fine and two game suspension = 1.25 + 0.75 + 0.75 = 2.75 cameras. A team's cheap shot points are summed and rounded to the nearest whole or half camera rating.

OLB James Harrison (2010: $25K for roughing the passer)
OLB James Harrison (2010: $75K for a hit on a defenseless player)
OLB James Harrison (2011: suspended 1 game for illegal hit on a QB)
S Ryan Clark (2011: $40K for helmet-to-helmet hit)
G Chris Kemoeatu (2011: $25K for a late hit)
ILB Terence Garvin (2013: $25K for a hit on a defenseless player)

Notable incidents below the established criteria:
WR Antonio Brown (2014: $8K for karate kicking Browns P Spencer Lanning in the face)

VICTIM: The entire league

PUNISHED? Yes

PUNISHMENT: Each player was fined the amount listed with Harrison receiving a one-game suspension in 2011 as well as one of the largest fines ($75,000) for an illegal hit. Since 2010, the Steelers have the most players fined or suspended for blatantly dangerous and illegal hits on opponents.

Crampgate (2012)

TEAM: The Pittsburgh Steelers

SUMMARY: In November of 2012 the NFL fined Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders $15,000 and the Steelers organization another $35,000 for Sanders' faking of an injury against the Cincinnati Bengals on Oct. 21, 2012.

Said NFL Executive Vice President of Football Operations Ray Anderson: "Despite the account given by Sanders during our November 2nd meeting, neither the video sequence of the pertinent plays nor the observations of the on-field official support Sanders's contention that he was in severe pain, either before, while falling to the ground, lying on the ground, or when he was being assisted in leaving the field," said in a letter to the Steelers general manager Kevin Colbert and Sanders.

"Moreover, after missing the one play that is mandatory pursuant to the playing rules, and receiving no apparent treatment, Sanders returned to the game for a fourth down punt, on which he out sprinted all of his teammates 26 yards down the field, arriving at the ball ahead of all other Pittsburgh players, and then downing the ball.

"The video of the play shows Sanders running swiftly and effortlessly toward the punted ball, and then leaving the field with no sign of discomfort. Sanders also played the rest of the game without difficulty. Finally, there is no indication that Sanders has had prior cramping issues while in the NFL, and no Steelers' medical records or information of any kind were presented that would support a finding that he incurred a cramp that was both as serious and as transient as Sanders suggests."

VICTIM: Cincinnati Bengals

PUNISHED? Yes

PUNISHMENT: The NFL fined Sanders $15,000 and the Steelers organization another $35,000. Also: NO SUPER BOWLS SINCE CRAMPGATE!

These are just a few of the many the website lists of the Pittsburgh Steelers' history of cheating in the NFL. Take a look for yourself and see why the Steelers were able to garner 'Elite Cheater' status. saywhat

Steroidgate (1970-2007) flag

TEAM: The Pittsburgh Steelers

SEVERITY:scale

SUMMARY: Richard Rydze, a Pittsburgh Steelers team doctor from 1985 to 2007, was indicted in 2012 for his long history of purchasing and illegally prescribing anabolic steroids, human growth hormones and painkillers. The physician was also charged with health care fraud for falsely diagnosing more than 90 patients with pituitary dwarfism so they could receive human growth hormones and drugs meant to counteract the side-effects of steroid use.

Rydze was also on the customer list of an Orlando, FL, pharmacy that was raided in February 2007 as part of an interstate steroids ring. Rydze was questioned then about buying $150,000 worth of testosterone and human growth hormone on his credit card in 2006, but was not charged in that investigation.

The Steelers dropped Rydze from their roster of doctors in June 2007.

In the decade prior to Rydze's tenure, many Steelers also admitted to using steroids to gain an advantage. Former Steelers quarterback Terry Bradshaw admitted in 2008 that he used steroids during his playing career. Bradshaw said on Dan Patrick's radio show: “We did steroids to get away the aches and the speed of healing. My use of steroids from a doctor was to speed up injury, and thought nothing of it. It was to speed up the healing process, that was it. It wasn't to get bigger and stronger and faster.”

Former Saints coach Jim Haslett accused the '70s Steelers of being "the ones who kind of started" steroid use in the NFL.

Said Haslett: "It started, really, in Pittsburgh. They got an advantage on a lot of football teams. They were so much stronger (in the) '70s, late '70s, early '80s.

Former Vikings and Giants quarterback Fran Tarkenton corroborated Haslett's story in a June 2009 interview, saying: "We’re playing the Steelers in the Super Bowl in ’75 or ’76 … we’re on the field warming up, and I see these Steeler offensive linemen with their sleeves rolled up, and they've got these bulging muscles. Later, we found out it that … these guys were juiced … all of them."

"We talk now about (former baseball stars) Roger Clemens and Barry Bonds. But how about the Steelers of that era? Did that make a difference? Yeah, it made a difference. It increased their performance.”

VICTIM: The entire league

PUNISHED? No but ... it's more probable than not that this was cheating

PUNISHMENT: Predictably, the Steelers and Rydze denied that he ever gave steroids to any Steelers players because the team would never compromise the wellbeing of their players or the integrity of the game by using performance enhancing substances. More likely, with the Steelers long history of steroid cheating, having this doctor on staff made perfect sense for the team. Once his name was released in 2007 as a customer of the steroid company, however, the Steelers wisely decided to go in another direction.

The Steelers and Chargers were well out in front of their opponents on leveraging steroids to gain a competitive advantage. During this period, the Steelers also happened to win 4 Super Bowls. It is more probable than not that the Steelers teams of the 70s were so heavily juiced compared to the rest of the league that these Super Bowls are deeply tainted.

Woman in Georgia alleges assault

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. -- For the second time in a year, Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger is being accused of sexual misconduct, with police investigating him Saturday for an alleged assault at a nightclub in a Georgia college town.

Police in Milledgeville were examining the claim of a 20-year-old student, who told an officer that Roethlisberger sexually assaulted her early Friday.

Tom Davis, the special agent in charge of the regional Georgia Bureau of Investigation in Milledgeville, told ESPN on Saturday that Milledgeville police and the GBI will be working the case throughout the weekend and into next week. Authorities had no plans to comment further until Monday at the earliest.

The GBI has not spoken with Roethlisberger or any of the men who were with him on the night in question, but are trying to arrange that, Davis said. When Davis does speak with them, he told ESPN he wants to conduct the interviews in person. It was his understanding that Roethlisberger and his group left the state on Friday.

Investigators are awaiting lab results, but Davis would not say if anything was taken from Roethlisberger. When the investigation is complete, Davis said the findings will be turned over to the Baldwin County district attorney.

The case comes as Roethlisberger faces a lawsuit filed last July by a woman who says he raped her in 2008 at a Lake Tahoe hotel and casino, an allegation he strongly denies. Roethlisberger, who was not in custody, has not been criminally charged in either case and has claimed counter-damages in the lawsuit.

Still, to hear it on the airwaves in Pittsburgh, this latest situation seems to have shaken fans of the star quarterback, a man who has never hidden the fact he enjoys the nightlife. He has been spotted gambling in Las Vegas and is sometimes seen in public with small groups of friends and bodyguards.

The latest accusation came early Friday in downtown Milledgeville, about 85 miles southeast of Atlanta and about 30 miles south of the lake home the player owns. Roethlisberger, who turned 28 on Tuesday, and two or three friends went to Buffington's bar earlier Thursday night to watch the University of Pittsburgh men's college basketball game, said Paul Kurcikevicus, a 24-year-old college student.

He said the group was friendly, at first joking that Roethlisberger was not the NFL player. Kurcikevicus said Roethlisberger bought shots for him and some other people in the bar. The shots were "O-Bombs," a mixture of energy drink and flavored rum.

The group later went to The Brick restaurant nearby, owner Frank Pendergrast said.

"He was very polite with everybody," Pendergrast told The Associated Press. "He was down here from about 11:30 until about 1:30 having a good time, talking to a lot of people. Looked like he was signing autographs and letting people take pictures. Other than that, it was really uneventful."

Roethlisberger was later seen at Capital City, a popular nightclub for students at Georgia College & State University in Milledgeville.

One patron at the bar on Friday night, 21-year-old college student Brandon Harris, said he saw Roethlisberger come in the night before with two or three big men who were keeping other club goers away. Harris said the group went into a curtained VIP area in the back of the club, and some women were let inside.

Amber Hanley, a 21-year-old college student, said she and a few friends were also in the VIP area with Roethlisberger. She said she asked the quarterback to take a photo with her friend, who was a fan, but he seemed disappointed that's all she wanted. Hanley said she rolled her eyes, and Roethlisberger called her an expletive and walked away. Later, Roethlisberger was aggressively hitting on another girl, Hanley said.

Deputy Police Chief Richard Malone said Friday that Roethlisberger had been with three other people who were mingling with another group that included the alleged victim. Malone said the woman and her party contacted a nearby police officer following the alleged assault.

"He's been identified as being at the scene and there are allegations naming him as the perpetrator," Malone said. The nature of the assault was not described, but Malone did say it was being termed a sexual assault, not a rape.

Roethlisberger and the alleged victim were interviewed and the woman was taken to a hospital, where she was treated and released, Malone said. The woman was not identified by police; ESPN and the AP do not generally identify possible victims of sexual abuse.

Police said Roethlisberger and his attorney were cooperating with investigators.

The player's agent, Ryan Tollner, said in a statement he was skeptical of the motive of the alleged victim in Milledgeville because of the previous Lake Tahoe allegations. Steelers spokesman Dave Lockett said the team was gathering information and had no comment.

As Pittsburgh's first-round draft pick out of Miami of Ohio in 2004, Roethlisberger led the Steelers to Super Bowl victories in 2006 and 2009. He has frequently donated time and money to charities, and his charitable foundation awards a police dog to a department near every Steelers road opponent.

However, with his championships and $102 million contract have come several off-the-field problems. In 2006, he defied his coach's orders and rode his motorcycle without a helmet -- and wound up with a concussion, broken jaw and other injuries after a wreck.

And while Roethlisberger has a reputation for patiently signing autographs and posing for pictures while out in public, he also is known for occasionally inelegant behavior in Pittsburgh. Early in his career, he was photographed wearing a T-shirt reading "Drink Like a Champion." Restaurant owners in Pittsburgh have complained he has tried to skip out on bills.

The public largely supported him when he was accused of sexual assault in Nevada. But radio shows in Pittsburgh have been flooded with calls since Friday's allegation -- few of them sympathetic, with many wondering if the new case indicates a troubling pattern of behavior.

Fan Julie Muckle of Cranberry Township, Pa., said Roethlisberger was hanging out with the wrong people.

"I'm 24 and if I want to go out to a local bar, I know where I can find him. I feel like he needs to hide himself a little more and be with a better group," Muckle said.

Michael Vick isn’t the problem: Steelers fans need to talk about rape culture

live in western Pennsylvania, so my social media feeds exploded yesterday, with the news that the Pittsburgh Steelers had signed Michael Vick to a one-year contract as a backup quarterback.

The outrage, of course, comes from Michael Vick’s history running a violent dog-fighting ring out of his house. The tortures and deaths of countless pitbulls at Bad Newz Kennels still haunt many people; animals are often seen as the ultimate innocent victim, and Vick’s plea bargain, and subsequent repentant interviews feel at worst disingenuous, and at best like too little, too late.

I’ve heard people say that he’s only sorry he got caught. I’ve heard that he should be the one buried in the ground at that house. I’ve heard that he’s a thug.

In other words, I’ve heard a lot of racially-coded language that reminds me that black men are easily cast in the role of criminal, and have an almost-impossible time shaking it off.

And I understand what’s at the heart of these sentiments. Three years ago, I adopted a sweet boxer mutt from a shelter in Kansas, who came home with me malnourished, a mere 35 pounds, his ribcage showing through his skin, cuts and scars all over his head. I don’t know anything about his past, but I know he had a rough life, and I know how it feels to have taken him away from whatever hurt came before.

So I understand why the images of pitbull victims haunt us still, and I understand if people don’t feel comfortable watching Vick return to the spotlight.

What I don’t understand is why almost no one expresses that same discomfort over the guy first in line for Vick’s job.

Ben Roethlisberger, the Steelers first-string quarterback and all-around golden ticket, has been accused twice of sexually assaulting women: in 2008, and again in 2010. And while it’s true that Roethlisberger hasn’t faced criminal charges for either of these crimes, that doesn’t convince me at all that he’s not guilty.

At the very least, we know that his defense team used character assassination against his first accuser, who declined to press criminal charges for fear she’d lose her job. We also know that his second accuser was in her early twenties, a college student, and was so intoxicated at the time of the alleged assault she had to be dragged to the back room of the club.

We know she and her friends went to the first police officer they could find. And we know that the hospital she was taken to found bruising and bleeding in the genital area.

We know that his second victim, like his first, eventually asked that a criminal case against Roethlisberger not be pursued. We know how incredibly common this is among rape victims, and how unlikely a conviction would have been, had charges been pursued.

When Steelers fans talk about Ben Roethlisberger’s behavior, this is what I hear:

I’ve heard people say that Roethlisberger hasn’t been convicted of anything. I’ve heard that his alleged crimes are different because his victims ‘put themselves in that position.’ I’ve heard that the victims were probably only after his money.

In other words, I’ve heard a lot of gender-coded language that reminds me that female rape victims have the hardest time of anyone being taken seriously. I’ve heard a lot that reminds me how little we think of women. I’ve heard a lot that sounds like hypocrisy.

Hey vambo, was all that meant to help make you feel better about the beatdown your clowns just received, or was it meant to make Steeler fans feel bad?

Well, I hope the former is working for you because the latter aint lol.

Look my Milk Bone loving friend. The Steelers are not your problem. Its your corrupt front office.

The Steelers can only beat your team at the most three times a year...and..it is there job to try. Your front office beats your team before they even step on the field each week. Smh... Have you looked at your roster lately?? Back in the day I would laugh in your face. But now I feel sorry for the Clowns fans. Y'all don't deserve this. frown

Fan tries to bribe police after being arrested for assault at Steelers game

A football fan in Pittsburgh has been charged with aggravated assault, reckless endangerment and bribery after an incident that left one woman unconscious at the Steelers-Ravens game on Sunday night.

According to a police report obtained by the CBS affiliate KDKA-TV in Pittsburgh, 29-year-old Stephen Sapp was arrested after he kicked a steel barrier, causing the object to come off the ground and hit a woman in the head, knocking her unconscious. The woman had to be taken to a local hospital for treatment.

The entire incident happened after Sapp was asked by stadium security to leave the game.

Sapp, who was allegedly drunk, was taken to the ground by officers after he resisted arrest. After the incident, Sapp was also taken to the hospital where he attempted to make the situation go away by bribing several officers.

"Listen I know how this works. How much money will it take to make this go away and to let me go home today?" Sapp asked.

Sapp then told the officers that he could help them in other ways because he works for the IRS.

"Look, I am an IRS agent and I can help you in other ways if you let me go home and make this go away," Sapp said.

Sapp is being held on a $10,000 bond and has a preliminary hearing scheduled for Nov. 12

Boo Hoo.

Stain fans continue to post this tired old song and dance as if the umpteenth time makes it more compelling as the first.LOL

But if you really want to go there...the most notorious abuser of women in the history of the NFL was a Cleveland Clown.

An 18-year-old accused Brown of forcing her to have sex after giving her whisky, but a jury found him innocent of assault and battery in the 10-day trial in 1965. He was accused of throwing his girlfriend from a balcony in 1968, but when the 22-year-old woman refused to name Brown as her assailant, the charge of assault with intent to murder was dropped. He was fined $300 for resisting a deputy.

Brown was acquitted of assaulting a man after a traffic accident in 1969. He was fined $500 and spent a day in jail after beating up a golfing partner in 1978. He was charged with rape, sexual battery and assault in 1985, but the charges were dropped when the 33-year-old woman gave inconsistent testimony.

The next year, he was arrested for allegedly beating his fiancée after accusing her of flirting. He spent three hours in jail, but three days later the 21-year-old woman said she didn't want to prosecute.

In October 1999, Brown was convicted in Los Angeles of smashing the window of his 25-year-old wife Monique's car, but was acquitted of making terrorist threats against her. The judge sentenced him to three years' probation, stripped him of his driver's license for a year, fined him $1,700 to be paid to a battered woman's shelter and a domestic abuse fund, and ordered him to attend special counseling for domestic batterers.

When Brown refused counseling, he was given a six-month sentence. He was released from jail in Ventura County (California) in July 2002 after serving less than four months.

The Pittsburgh Steelers are the 2nd-worst cheaters in NFL history: report

http://www.pennlive.com/steelers/index.ssf/2015/05/pittsburgh_steelers_2nd_worst_cheaters.html

SIGH

The New England Patriots don't cheat as much as the Pittsburgh Steelers. Only the Denver Broncos cheat more.

That's what the metrics of YourTeamCheats declared with its cheat score rankings for all 32 NFL teams. The website takes into account all scandals, including dirty hits. Pittsburgh's ranking puts the franchise into the category or "elite cheaters," according to the site.

They are are one of four teams in the category, joined by the New York Jets, Washington Redskins and Indianapolis Colts. The site assigns severity of each incident based on the commissioner's punishment. YourTeamCheat.com's math for the calculation gets a little complicated for what it calls Cheapsgate, the high number of fines Steelers players have received for illegal hits since 2010, but it's explained well here.

Here's the full summary of Steelers transgressions

Of the Top 25 incidents of cheating in NFL history, according to YourTeamCheats.com, the Steelers have three. They are as follows:

No. 6 - Impedegate

When head coach Mike Tomlin stepped onto the field while Jacoby Jones was returning a kickoff in a 2013 Thanksgiving game.

No. 11 - Steroidgate

The Steelers, by Terry Bradshaw's admission, using steroids in their golden era of the 1970s and 80s. They won four Super Bowls then.

No. 23 - Cheapsgate

The six times Steelers players have been fined for illegal hits since 2010. That's the highest total in the league. James Harrison accounts for three of those penalties.

This Harrison hit cost him $20,000 for roughing the passer that was Drew Brees in an Oct. 31, 2010 game:

Tossing Vince Young earned him a $5,000 fine earlier that same season:

Harrison was fined $75,000 for this hit on Mohamed Massquoi, which happened on Oct. 17, 2010.

This 2011 hit on Colt McCoy earned him a one-game suspension:

For what it's worth, the Patriots were ranked as the 16th-worst cheaters in the league.

Poor Clown Hunter. . Poor Clown Hunter Indeed!
The Clowns are against the Titans next week. They are looking at possibly going 0-7.

The optimism and blind faith that was shown on this very board at the start of preseason was amazing.

I said to myself. .Why do they think this year is different??

Then we get the undefeated Preseason. . SMH. That is nothing but the front office priming the money pump. They pump faked the Clown fans once again and got them to buy in to the so called process. Told them better days are ahead.

The sad thing is this is whats said EVERY YEAR in Cleveland since 1999. Like clockwork we are not even into November yet and the Clowns are damn near eliminated from the playoffs already.

Why should Haslem change his ways? No matter how bad the garbage is that he puts out the Clowns will lap it up. I say hit him where it hurts. His pockets. Stop buying all of the dog biscuits and Clown noses. Still follow your team but dont follow a demonic leader.

Did not the front office hype up the team and their new rookie QB?

You have the audacity to mention anything trade related after YOUR front office's latest blunder?

Not only does your front office not even make a play on Jimmy G from the Pats they literally act like Clowns the way they bumbled the trade with the Bengals.

What is unacceptable is your OWN front office beating your team before they even had a chance to step on the field. That is exactly what your bumbling incompetent Front Office does year in and year out since 1999.

But hey. . According to you all is fine and it's the other teams that suck.

I applaud you for FINALLY admitting that your team is indeed a MESS! And at least floating the idea out there that the FO may need to be changed.

You have gone from licking the crumbs off the arse of the front office to at least questioning their motives. Great news!

Smack?? You are talking about meaningless "smack" when your team is in a shambles??

Why would I even have a need to smack you? Your front office smacks you Clowns fans down before the games even start on Sundays.

It is more delusional to think that trusting your shoddy ownership will bring results. Yet you do.

You actually have the nerve to believe that your front office wants to actually win games.

I did not mean to laugh at you old friend but it truly is hilarious.

What is also hilarious is the way you try and spin away from your own words. YOU have said in this very thread TWO years ago that your team is on the right track to turning this thing around.

YOU have said in this very thread TWO years ago that your team is building toward the future.

TWO YEARS ago. And you dare to say that someone is delusional. Your own drunken ranting in this thread has proven that either you are inept like your current front office. You are senile. Or you just have no idea what you are talking about.

Two Years ago you say these things. . And yet. . .Your team is currently winless and it is November. Your team has refused to pick viable quarterbacks and fumbled away a chance to trade for another.

Honestly I do not even need to say anything at this point. I will let your fellow Dawgs do the talking.

Well, to clarify, the fans don’t deserve it. The ownership obviously deserves what it has rendered.

Why try and smack and fight with me?

Why not save that angst for your own shoddy ownership? They not me are the one's who are defeating your team.

The Steelers can account for at the most 3 losses a year for the Clowns. Your ownership has ensured that you have only had one win since Dec of last year.

The only thing I am doing is what you refuse to do. I am calling out your front office. And the more I look at your vaunted Pure Football forum the more I see that other Clown fans agree with ME.

I only see what everyone in the world see's yet you have dog biscuits over your eyes.

Quote:

It’s hard to stomach a coach with a 1-24 record, but Browns owner Jimmy Haslam would presumably feel better about it if there were sharp decisions but the players weren’t executing.

Then Haslam sees the debacle at the end of the first half Sunday, and it’s not exactly coaching wizardry.

What happened just before halftime Sunday was inexplicable. The Browns had 15 seconds left, at Detroit’s 2-yard line, and ran one play before the half ran out. The Browns got a first down on the first play after the two-minute warning to the Lions’ 24-yard line, had one timeout and still somehow ran out of time, but let’s just focus on the final play.

The Browns called a quarterback sneak on second down from the 2-yard line. That’s a terrible call. If it doesn’t get in, the clock is running and you have to get the clock stopped. You probably have to spike the ball, which means you’ve wasted second and third down on a quarterback sneak from 2 yards out. But even if you decide that’s the call, your team has to be aware of the situation. The Browns showed no awareness when DeShone Kizer was tackled short of the end zone. We’ve seen teams run on field-goal units in less than 10 seconds. The Browns couldn’t even line up. That’s the sign of a really poorly coached team. Some teams practice situational football constantly. Do the Browns teach it at all?

When you see what happened at the first half, it’s clear that this coaching staff isn’t working out. You don’t fire someone because of one clock management mistake, no matter how bad it is. But add that into everything else, and there are just no signs the Browns are in the right hands. As hard as it will be, it’s time for another change.
SMH

What happened was inexplicable

Do the Clowns even teach situational football??

There are NO SIGNS the Clowns are in the right hands??? Maybe it is time for a change?? You don't say?

Posting Youtube video's will not change the fact that your ownership has failed. But hey. . if that is how you to choose to deal with a criminal ownership that is ripping you off then

The Browns have won only two of their past 36 games and are the NFL's only remaining winless team (0-9) in 2017. Gipson said the blame for that rests squarely on the front office and not the players. They've bungled decision after decision, he said, especially when it comes to quarterback.

So not only do I state it. . I quote other Clown fans stating it. I quote national sports writer stating it. . NOW I quote former Clown PLAYERS saying it.

The blame rests SQUARELY with your pathetic front office.

At this point GM's argument has been completely destroyed in this thread. He thinks the Clowns are PROGRESSING. Their approach is working and that I am completely off base by saying that your front office is a problem.

At this point you are acting like a agent of Haslem's to be honest.

Quote:

"You look back and I feel bad for those guys because, like I said, it's nothing that they can do. They just go out there and play," Gipson said. "It's the guys above them who make these decisions and, you know, it's unfortunate. We've seen it time and time again, the opportunity that's slipped by them.

"Every time [Eagles quarterback] Carson Wentz pop up on the TV, somebody brings it up [that the Browns didn't draft him]. I had to play against [Texans rookie quarterback] Deshaun Watson. It's unfortunate what happened to him, but that's going to be one of the best young quarterbacks in the league and one of the best quarterbacks in the league in the coming years.

"It's things like that you just continue to scratch your head. You've just got to look back and say, 'Man, I'm glad to get up out of there.'"
Hey all. According to GM ALL IS WELL.

Quote:
The fans, they supported me, they loved me, they brought me in. It was never a situation where it was any ill will to the fans.

This is another thing I have been stating for years. The fans are the innocent one's in this. They just want to watch competitive football. Instead they have a corrupt owner who is destroying the Browns brand.

I mean your use to the Pittsburgh's baseball team swinging and missing. I mean yin'z have sucked since 1980 and your NBA team LMFAO of that's right you guys don't even deserve a NBA team.
GM is trying to derail the thread and to be quite honest it is troubling.

Why would he not want the spotlight pointed towards an obviously inept front office? Is he hiding something? Is he in cahoots with Haslem?

I back up my statements with direct quotes from:

1. Other disgruntled Clown fans.
2. Legitimate sports news outlets.
3. Former Clown players.

I provide direct links to back up my assertion that the Clown front office is either hilariously unqualified or they are criminally negligent.

GM responds with:

1. Youtube links that have zero to do with the subject.

2. Outright attempts to steer the conversation to NFL topics that have nothing to do with this thread.

3. Attempts to steer the conversation to non Nfl sports topics like the MLB or the NBA. Makes no sense since we are talking about the state of the Clowns.

4. Not addressing his own comments that shows he has no sense of his own team. Like this one from 2015...

One of these days you might type something that resembles smack.
Poor Clowns Indeed

Quote:
The Browns are 0-9, despite some people defending them by saying they could have won three or four games. Right, they could have, but they didn't.

Quote:
Kizer’s choice makes you question roster decisions made in the off-season by the front office or the coaching staff, who obviously are not working together very well. This is clear by the decision to not have a veteran QB on the roster to start the season – such as former Browns QB Josh McCown, now with the New York Jets – which would have let Kizer watch and learn before getting the reigns of the team turned over to him after the London trip and bye week. Instead, the roster includes quarterbacks Cody Kessler and Kevin Hogan, two players with limited experience who have struggled even more than Kizer.

Quote:
The fan reaction to the end of the first half was brutal to Jackson, even though his play calling was not to blame. Still, the fan sentiment is no longer on his side, which owner Jimmy Haslam will take into consideration when he makes his evaluation at the end of the season. Hopefully, he won't overlook the reaction to his front office, either, with special attention to passing on the selection of quarterbacks in the draft, notably Carson Wentz and Jared Goff in the 2016 draft, and DeShawn Watson in the last draft.

Some naysayers will say that the Clowns are actually doing well and right on schedule. They will LIE to your face while eating Gravy Train and state that all you have to do is be patient.

Do not be deterred by those agents and fake prophets. Look at the proof of your recent non success. Then point your bitterness to Haslem and his cronies in the Front Office.

Great Job Browns Fans

My plan to oust Haslem is gaining steam!

The Clowns fans have finally had it. Now its time to hit Haslem in his wallet. Attendance is DOWN. And its beautiful.

It is because the product on the field is poor because of a front office that is focused on filling their own coffers instead of putting out a competitive team.

Kizer is the lowest rated QB in the league AND leads the league in turnovers. What will happen next year? It is easy to predict because the same thing happens almost every offseason.

1. Hype about some mythical free agent that will turn out to be a aging star looking for a pay day. Example - Britt/Bowe

2. Hype about the draft.

3. Draft picks which include a QB who will become the "savior" Example - Kizer, Manziel, etc

4. Pre Season hysterics. Over analyzing each play and making wild predictions about the upcoming season.

5. State the Steelers are done and old and its your turn. ( Not even sure why you guys focus on the Steelers so much )

6. By mid Oct start talking about next years draft.

Sad... BUT. . If we can oust Haslem. . Well then sky is the limit fellas!

The Browns are a franchise that's a national punch-line.

The Clowns franchise is a national punch line??? You don't say. .

Quote:
They have a fan base whose loyalty has been betrayed by incompetence so pronounced as to resemble sheer stupidity. How can anyone let this clown carnival go on?

Oh. . So the fans are loyal and they have been betrayed by an incompetent Front Office?? YOU DON'T SAY . . . .

I will tell you what I DO say. I say lets strike back at your corrupt criminal front office. I say lets continue to protest in the form of not showing up to these rigged games. I say do not buy the Clown noses and Dawg ears.

I say Poor Clowns. . Poor Clowns Indeed! frown
Worst Team Ever?

Quote:
the Cleveland Browns are putting together the worst three-year run in NFL history -- including all existing franchises from 1920 until now. Of the 32 existing franchises, in every season they have played in every city they have played in, with every wacky nickname attached, no one has had a worse three-season run.

Wait what?? The worst three year stretch. . EVER?

But how is that even possible when the trusted and respected GMdawg stated in 2015 that the Clowns are progressing and soon will be leading the division?

Quote:
The Browns have won just four times in over two-and-a-half seasons -- somehow accomplishing this in the salary cap era at a time when they amassed a stunning array of top-10 draft selections -- and are 4-38 since the start of the 2015 season.

GREAT HEAVENS! Only 4 wins. Also this article states something I have said in this very thread. It is very hard to be this bad in the salary cap era. You are rewarded for bad play with better draft picks and compensatory picks and easier schedules. Yet. . Still. . .The Clowns are. . .well they are Clowns. It all points to shoddy ownership. We all know Haslem is a crook and a criminal. Look at how he defrauded Truckers. Now he is doing the same thing to the Clowns fanbase.

Quote:
The Browns not only passed on Wentz, Dak Prescott numerous times, Deshaun Watson (twice) and others to end up with Cody Kessler (third-round pick, against all odds and reason) and DeShone Kizer (top of the second round despite a poor season at Notre Dame) as their QBs, after moving up to select Johnny Manziel didn't go so well. They have invested a ton of picks and money at receiver only to have seemingly no one on the roster capable of catching a ball in an NFL game. They paid $16M to rent Brock Osweiler's contract for a few months to invariably cut him, essentially paying $16M for the rights to a second-round pick in total. They have given away Joe Haden, Demario Davis, Mitchell Schwartz, Taylor Gabriel, Alex Mack and Tashaun Gipson in the past few years.

This. . .This is insane.

I could keep quoting from the article. .But to be honest it is depressing. Wow. And you wonder why I say Poor Clowns. .Poor Clowns Indeed! frown
Now now Elmer don't have another meltdown like you did the last time.

It Is Not Working

Quote:
12 games down, four to go. Still no wins for the Cleveland Browns.

If you take wider look, the Browns are 1-27 since owner Jimmy Haslam started over and rebuilt the front office with Sashi Brown and Paul DePodesta's analytical approach, with Hue Jackson as head coach.

It's not working. And as the "Voice of the Browns," Jim Donovan, put it on Monday, it's unacceptable. Especially for a city and a region that has the pedigree and passion for football that Cleveland and Northeast Ohio possesses.

It is simply not working GM. 1-27 since H A S L E M rebuilt your front office. So . . . . Haslem owns this debacle. He has built this mess and he needs to be stopped.

Quote:
The person who comes to the Browns must look to end the culture of losing. A culture that has caused the Browns to have only two winning seasons and one postseason appearance since their return to the NFL in 1999.

If that losing culture can be put to rest, it could be a renaissance similar to what we all saw in 2016, when the Chicago Cubs ended 108 years of futility and won the World Series.

It can happen.

The culture of losing. . . Only two winning seasons since 1999.

But never fear Clown fans. . Like the article states. . The losing culture can be put to rest. IT CAN HAPPEN.

Until then of course it is Poor Clowns. Poor Clowns Indeed! frown
Don't you have some Steelers gear to burn with the rest of the FORMER Steeler fans?
Poorest Attendance Since 1995

Quote:
Here we are again this year with our lovable Browns sitting at 0-11 — five losses away from a whitewash. If that happens, the Browns would go 1-31 over a two-year span under coach Hue Jackson and a front office that has struck out on almost every move it has made.

Quote:
The team is the laughing stock of the National Football League and in all professional sports. Team owner Jimmy Haslam is living proof success in the business world does not always mean success running a professional team

Quote:
the Browns have played only three games with an announced attendance of fewer than 60,000. All three have occurred in the last 11 months.

Fewer and fewer people care about the Browns

Fewer and fewer people care about the Clowns.

It is because of the shoddy ownership. If you do not acknowledge that you are either in cahoots with them or you are not simply not that bright.

Either way it is Poor Clowns. . Poor Clowns Indeed! frown
The Rooneys were the laughing stock of the NFL the first what???? 38 years they were in the NFL, while they worried more about betting on horses than their team. Your fans didn't even have to burn their Steelers gear back then because nobody ever bought any of it to begin with.

I admit it freely. Yet you CANNOT admit that the Clowns are the laughingstock of the league. . RIGHT NOW.

Your blatant dishonesty is disgusting and troubling.

The weeks must get longer and longer for the Cleveland Browns. The laughingstock of the league, the Browns remain winless (0-12) this season after going 1-15 last year. You bring up stuff from the Black n White Smack Shack like it is relevant right now. Yet you IGNORE what is hitting you in your nose. Your team has been the laughingstock of the NFL since 1999. Even your one playoff appearance was a debacle as you lost a huge lead and bumbled it away.

So why would I even entertain anything you say when you can not admit your team is the laughingstock of the NFL? And that is not even smack. That is fact.

I know the Clowns have lost again. At this point quite frankly it is a fiasco. More and more Clown fans are realizing the scheme that Haslem is pulling.

Sadly there are some so called fans who still kiss his arse and think the Team is progressing. Guys like GMdawg refuse to even admit this team is a laughingstock.

But hey its not all gloom and doom. WE GOT SASHI FIRED! One of the cogs in your evil front office has got the boot!

Now of course we cannot rest until the whole pyramid scheme comes toppling down. Of course we will continue to fight so we can turn the Clowns back in the Browns.

Emotional deep freeze. . As the Clowns lose every single damn game. We will fix this friends.

In the name of Vince Lombardi, the Packers have had only TWO losing records since Favre took over.

That's TWO losing records in the last 25 years.

In that same span, the Browns have had THREE winning seasons.

3 winning seasons in 25 years. And some Clowns like Vambo and GMdawg continue to say all is well? At this point we might as well call it what it is. . They are fake fans and should be treated as such. smh.

In the last two years, the Browns are 1-28.

No coach has ever been 1-28, as is the situation with Hue Jackson.

The expansion Browns were 5-27 under Chris Palmer.

The expansion Tampa Bay Bucs were 2-27 from 1976-78.

In their last three seasons, the Browns are 4-41.

The sad thing is friends. . I started this thread in Feb of 2015.

I made sure to give it to you straight. You deserve nothing less. I was not taken seriously. Now look. In Feb it will be 5 years since I made this thread. What has changed for your squad?

Playoff appearances?
Division Titles?
Coaching Continuity?

Sadly none of the above. You see the train coming but just cannot get out of the way. Your front office is not interested in winning plain and simple. They are only interested in taking your hard earned doggy bucks. The proof is in the results.

It is my goal to get the Clowns fans to recognize that they deserve better. Get them to stop buying into all of the propaganda that your corrupt front office puts out. They did a real doozy on your fans this offseason. Even I must admit they went above and beyond to get the fan base hyped up.

The sad thing is they knew the team would fail. They just never let the fans on in the secret. That is why I am here. To provide levity. To let you know that if we all stand together your sheisty front office will have to make real changes.

Wow. I cant even really fault the fans for putting out confusing incorrect statements. Look at the owner of the team they follow. Each off season they hype up the fans to the point where they think they will actually have a competitive season. Then once the season starts it all comes crashing down. frown

Poor Clowns. Poor Clowns Indeed! frown

Laughingstock
I have stated over and over that the Clowns front office does the same thing and gets the same dismal results. Now the national media is repeating the same thing.

Quote:

The Cleveland Browns’ decision to fire Freddie Kitchens on Sunday was met with head nods and chuckles.

Of course, it was time for Kitchens to go. Of course, he was in over his head.

But when word leaked Tuesday that general manager John Dorsey was in trouble and later got the ax too, well, those chuckles turned to deep sighs in Ohio.

Browns fans have seen this act before from team owners Jimmy and Dee Haslam, who clearly want to win but have no idea how as they continue to put this fan base through a cruel and twisted football version of “Groundhog Day.”

Step One: The team underachieves.

Step Two: Haslam gets frustrated and impatient, someone (or some) get fired.

Step Three: A new hope gets hired, and expectations rise.

Step Four: Start back at Step One again.

I have been stating this repeatedly in this thread since 2015. We have people like GMdawg and Vambo who will tell you all is well. Do not worry. There is a plan. Clearly the only plan is to suck for the foreseeable future.

Quote:

And so on, and so on it goes, which explains how, in an era of football when parity is a driving force of the league, the Haslams have accumulated a horrific record since they bought the Browns in October 2012.

Since 2013, the first full season the Haslams owned the team, Cleveland is 28-83-1. That’s a 25 percent winning percentage, about 16 percent behind what William Clay Ford Sr., the deceased patriarch of the Detroit Lions, posted as team owner from 1964-2013. That should explain how pathetic the Haslams’ winning percentage is, right?

Once again. I have stated this fact over and over again. Maybe now the Clowns fans will listen. smh.

Quote:

And it’s a shame. The Browns are one of the NFL’s most historic franchises, a place where legends like Paul Brown, Jim Brown and Otto Graham thrived, and more importantly, won championships.

Of course, those championships came in the 1950s and ’60s. Since then, the Browns have not only failed to reach a Super Bowl — joining the Lions as the only non-expansion team to do so — they also employed the greatest coach of all time (Bill Belichick) and never reaped any of the benefits, went 0-16 in 2016 and implemented the single-worst uniform design in the NFL in 2015.

It’s time for this to stop.

All facts. All facts that I have stated over the years also. Not to pat myself on the back but. . . I am right. I was also right that the Clowns uniforms are terrible. And I am also right that its time for this to stop!

Now you all get it. Now you all see why I fight so hard for your behalf. Now you understand my frustration with your front office.

Now you can see why I sometimes proclaim. . Poor Clowns. Poor Clowns Indeed! frown

Now that we have determined that I am right we can move forward. The problem is the Clowns front office. They have proved to be incompetent, disorganized, and low key criminal in the way they treat the fans.

They do NOT have your best interests at heart. They are NOT trying to field a winning team or build a winning culture.

They ARE only trying to fill their coffers with your hard earned grubby dollars.

So join me friends. Let’s turns you Clowns upside down. Bring respectability BACK to Cleveland. Instead of watching the the team you had stolen from you win titles and championships or watching your fiercest rival beat you 9 times out of 10 we can start a new winning tradition in Cleveland. I'm not angry. You're just annoying. There's a difference.

I cannot argue that. My posting style is not going to appeal to everyone. That is fair.

But. . . Who cares?[Linked Image from thecoli.com]

Your team is in the basement of the AFC North and is currently in shambles. So posting style points go out the window at this point. We are in triage my friend.

The last thing we need is for you self destruct like Vambo and basically ban yourself through ineptitude and stupidity.

Sadly this prediction has not come to pass. frown

While GM has good intentions he has proven time and time again that his overall football knowledge is subpar and lacking. He relies on the hope that his team can magically manifest results instead of looking at his front offices track record and giving a accurate prediction.

Let's talk about something substantial.

Maybe next time you will stop breaking the Rules Of The Pound.

Quote
If you don't agree with someone, you generally have 2 options. One, of course, is to just ignore it and move on. The other would be to say that you disagree, and provide a point/counterpoint to the discussion at hand. Be prepared to back up your viewpoint with stats and/or links. PLEASE do not resort to name-calling, as this does nothing to back up the validity of your point. It's not necessary and is totally out of line

You acted emotionally and with estrogen energy and name called me. Why though friend? You are not a newbie. You and I joined this board at the same time so you knew exactly what you were doing but decided to disrespect the Rules Of The Pound blatantly and for that the Ref's smacked you down and removed your posts.[Linked Image from thecoli.com]

So as a long time friend I warned you. I provided links and quotes from the Rules Of The Pound and told you to please be careful [Linked Image from thecoli.com] I acted in good faith and hoped that by bringing light to your temper tantrum that you would tone down the female energy and edit your post. What did you do though? You doubled down and then proceeded to break the Rules Of The Pound again by posting pics that exceeded the pixel limit.
Quote
Images in posts may not exceed 70KB or 200,000 pixels in size.

This was apparently to much for the Refs and they then proceeded to discipline you by removing your posts. Quite frankly GM.. This is beneath you.. You are an elder statesmen of this board.. Other posters look up to you and honestly you let them down. Do better friend. This was a poor way to start off the new year. I would really hate for you to Vambo yourself because you could not follow simple rules that are here to help keep the board running smoothly.

Sigh. It is times like these that cause me to sometimes say Poor Clowns. frown Poor Clowns Indeed! frown

Seriously friend. I am baffled as to why they keep pointing their angst against me. I am not the one who made the Clowns have a losing season. I am just trying to get them to simply stop being so simple minded and look at the bigger picture. Your corrupt front office. Sigh. Never fear my Pound Puppy loving friend. I am here. We know how your sheisty front office operates. They will slowly but steadily ramp up the pressure starting now until pre season starts. Their goal is to have you believing they are actually making progress and moving the team forward. By the time the season starts you will have already crowned yourselves pre season champs and in the running for a Lombardi.

Sadly it’s all fools gold and once again the Clowns will falter and stumble bum their way to another disappointing season. So I will be on hand to hopefully blunt the dangerous and disrespectful rhetoric of your owner and temper expectations.

Why would I not? I am here for a bigger purpose. I’m here to help save the Clowns fan base from another off season of high expectations that will lead to utter failure because of your train wreck of a front office.

We have some hard work ahead of us friends. Long time Clown fans like GM and others are securely on the side of the Clown owners and will attempt to muddy up the convo with distractions and name calling. Thankfully the Refs on this board are somewhat impartial and will either ban (Vambo) or censor (GM) posts that clearly break the long standing rules of this board.

Ironically your front office does the most trolling. Each year they troll your fan base into thinking they are going on the cusp of greatness. Each year your hopes come crashing down. Wow. It truly is no wonder why I occasionally say Poor Clowns frown Poor Clowns Indeed! frown
Last offseason the Clowns fan base was certain they were one of the favorites to make the Super Bowl. It was not their fault. The Clowns front office spearheaded this foolishness.

Now the Clowns fans have to watch as their Ohio brethren who used to be mocked put together a magical run to the Super Bowl.

Enjoy your hot dog, your beer is going to have tears in it.
Sooooooooooooooooo... When I said that the Clowns front office was not interested in actually winning I was ignored.

When I said it was almost impossible for the Clowns to be this bad for so long in this league of parity I was told I was mistaken.

When I stated that the Clowns front office put the team in position to lose long before they stepped on the field I was told that could not be the case.

So when you say there isn't "soul" in the world I can only look at your statement as blissful ignorance. That is better than thinking you are blatantly lying. I choose to see the good in the Clown fans. You guys have been through so much. No need to think the worst of you. Your Front office already does that.

That is what the Clowns franchise has been overall since the merger. Despite having a rabid fan base it always seemed that the Clowns would stumble bum their way through seasons. Somehow they turned the once mighty Browns franchise into actual Clowns. A JOKE of a franchise.

It truly is quite distressing when you think about it. Zero AFC Championships. Smh. You fans have to sit back and watch while your biggest nemesis the Steelers have gone to multiple Super Bowls. The team that got stolen from you the Ravens have some multiple Superbowls. Even your little Ohio brothers the Bengals have defied the odds and made it to Super Bowls.

I am simply a man who has seen a loyal fanbase suffer injustice from a corrupt front office. I decided enough is enough. Something has to be done. To start we have to recognize that their is a problem and diagnose it fully.

There are more Clown fans seeing the light day by day. More are coming to the realization that your ownership is not truly interested in fielding a competitive team year in and year out. Even on the rare occasions of when you have a barely above average season it is always followed up by multiple seasons of absurdity and foolishness.

This is why you are part of the problem friend. Your view is so narrow and restricted. You label people who do not follow your exact views as "bandwagon" You also would rather stick your head in the sand and not even consider a point that is different than your own.

That is not only a childish way of thinking it is bordering on moronic. You enjoy braying at the moon and following a Owner who is not interested in fielding a competitive team. Then show angst when someone points that out.

SMH. Its is 2022. Do better friend. At least consider a point other than your simplistic and juvenile views. Get out of your own way and look at the bigger picture. Until you do you may occasionally see me type: Poor Clowns. Poor Clowns Indeed! frown

You are on the right track! It is what the Clowns DO when they get players they want. Do they cultivate a spirit of winning? Or is their a cloud of hopelessness surrounding Berea?

Sure I will answer my clown nose wearing friend. First we have to focus the Clown Nation to recognize the underhanded tactics the Owners use and keep you and your brethren from being fooled in the offseason for the umpteenth time.

Their usual method of operation is to crank up the off season rhetoric to such a level that the average Clown fan will assume ( wrongly ) that their squad is Super Bowl bound. When that happens the Clowns fans will go out in droves and buy up all of the Clown merch and tickets.

This in itself is not the issue. The issue is that while doing this the Owners will not actually put the team in a position to actually win a Super Bowl. The evidence of this is that they are the only team in the AFC North who has yet to sniff a Super Bowl. Predictably the Clowns fan base will wail and gnash their teeth while crying about the state of their tepid squad and they will say soberly. Well wait until next near frown I will also soberly say. Poor Clowns. Poor Clowns Indeed! frown

The question is, when you say you are going to stick your head in the sand, what do you mean by that?

You are the very definition of bandwagon, because as you come on here, 7 years ago, and not even admitting you are a Browns fan, yet obviously obsessed with the Browns, and now the Browns are winning you want to pretend like you were on board from day one?

See bandwagon. The term comes from when the band would follow the team to the game in travel. A fan, who became a fan at the last minute, would hop on the bands wagon in route to the game.

Am I putting him on, or is he putting me on. Some of us have been here for the long haul, so if the bandwagon label fits, wear it!

[Linked Image from thecoli.com] This was the question you were prattling about? Was it not self evident friend. I explained it right after that statement. Have you never hear of the idiom "Stick/Bury your head in the sand?"

Definition: to ignore or refuse to think about a problem or something unpleasant. To avoid, or try to avoid, a particular situation by pretending that it does not exist.

Stick Your Head In The Sand Meaning

I talk about the issues plaguing your team that is caused by your shady front office. You would rather I did not talk about it. You do not believe there is a issue. Henceforth: My reasoning for saying you would rather stick your head in the sand and not consider a point of view that is different from your own. [Linked Image from thecoli.com]

Now this whole point makes zero sense. Lets dissect this point by point.

1. I came here in 2006. Not 7 years ago. My message has been exactly the same since 2006. My posts are searchable. You can do your own research.

2. Now that the Clowns are winning? Winning what exactly my friend? Since 2006 how many Superbowls have the Clowns won? How many Afc Championships? How many Afc North Championships? How many winning seasons? I am not sure what you consider "winning" but lets be honest. The Clowns are not winners.

3. If you were Bengal fan you would have a case. They have people hopping on their bandwagon because they are "WINNERS" They are representing the AFC in the Superbowl. They beat KC in the playoffs. The Clowns have won nothing. Wait a minute. Did they even finish above 500 this year? Did not the Clowns avoid the basement of the AFC North by a doggie whisker? [Linked Image from thecoli.com]

I am sorry my friend. The Clowns have NO bandwagon fans. You have to have a "winning" team to get bandwagon fans. Nobody is on the bandwagon of perennial losers.[Linked Image from thecoli.com]

So now we see that you do not know what the popular idiom sticking your head in the sand means you also do not know what bandwagon means.

Bandwagon Definition: Someone who joins or supports something, usually a sports team, only after it is successful or popular.
Bandwagon Fan Definition

The Clowns are neither successful or popular. THAT is the very reason why I say Poor Clowns. Poor Clowns Indeed! frown

The sad thing is there is nothing funny about the state of your sad squad. frown Pure ineptness. Such a sad state of affairs. frown And the reason your team is in such a bad state is because they simply do not know how to win consistently. And it is not their fault. 60% of fans who took your poll agreed with my take. No they do not know how to win. So when we logically follow the trail we can see that one of the reasons is a lack of leadership on your teams leaders.

Only have one thing to say to my fellow Browns fans. Why would you ever engage in responses to this dill? Guy is a full time hater, has spent hours trying to get under all y'alls skin and you let him. I guess that on you if you respond to this kind of gibberish. I mean seriously - a 6th grader could come up with this "smack" - and you all keep falling for it again and again.

Here's a clue: Stop. Because it doesn't matter how right you are or how wrong he is - he isn't going to stop with the stoopidness.
Bro- you totally miss the point.

Our responses are not TO him.
Our responses are FOR us.

His posts provide the perfect springy, trampoline-like launch points for our soaringly superior rejoinders.

We allow him to exist here, because his every post makes even the dullest of us look good by comparison (...and we truly do have some dullards of our own-)

That's why this place exists.
-just sayin'
" I appreciate that Clark" (From the Christmas Vacation movie) " I've got a plate in my head, it used to be metal but we had to get it taken out because every time Catherine used the microwave I'd ;;;; myself and forget who I was for a half hour." "OH-I-I don't know if I should go sledding down no hill with nothing between the ground and my brain but a piece of government plastic."

"Do you really think it matters Eddy? "

"Well see (knocks on his head) on this side, um y'know, nothing, but over here" (touches the part in his hair) see if I get a dent my hair is just not going to look right"

So I don't know if I ought to go sailing into an argument with nothing between the ground and my head but a piece of government plastic but just know, My nonsense was meant to draw this thread from 8 to 10 pages so it will be auto locked and sail off into the oblivion of forgetfulness in time, where it belongs! thumbsup

This response from 2017 should not be forgotten.
The Pittsburghhh stillers are now the 2nd worst cheaters in the league.
What a train wreck of a offseason. SMH.
frown
Well I hate to say I told you so but. . . . frown

Once again the Clowns have another drama filled offseason and the fans are the ones who are victims.

Now some of you may understand why I occasionally proclaim Poor Clowns. Poor Clowns Indeed frown
Mason Rudulph, somehow, is still your best QB.

The Pittsburghhh stillers are now the 2nd worst cheaters in the league.

Ironically this response from 2017 was from one of the most notorious rule breakers on this forum. He was rightfully booted because he did not know how to follow the Rules of the Clown Pound. He blatantly disregarded established rules and common decency. I repeatedly warned him about his behavior in good faith. I told him to be careful because the Refs could take action. I provided him with links to the Rules of the Clown Pound and highlighted the sections where he was wrong.

He said the rules did not apply to him and doubled down on his antics. I warned him repeatedly that if he did not take heed to my warnings I would not have any choice but to bring my concerns to the Refs. He then acted like the Clowns Front Office. He then Tripled Down on his rule breaking. In order to protect the integrity of this board I had to do the right thing. I reported him and he was banned. It was a sad thing but it had to be done.

Now we need to come together and do something similar to your front office. I wish it was simple as reporting them to the Refs but it is not. So my Clown Friends now is the time to roll up your sleeves, put the Doggy Masks down and lets get serious about the business of rehabbing the image of the Clowns into the Browns once again.

SMH. It truly is no wonder the Clowns franchise is in the state it is in. Poor Clowns. Poor Clowns Indeed! frown
Glad to see you made parole. Just remember the three strike rule Clown.
Yay!

The silly clown is back to entertain us! Welcome back, clown!

Your reports had nothing to do with his ban. So, you can stop peddling that nonsense.

I come in here rarely, but this guy is a fixture.

I am here to advocate that the people on the short bus deserve a break.
I'm just glad that the last team to win a playoff game at Heinz Field was the Cleveland Browns.
I wonder if Trubisky was able to complete a pass in Camp today.
I actually signed in for the first time in a long time, maybe a couple of years. The first person I looked for was Vambo. He and I got into some funny stuff. I was like the only Steeler fan in the world he liked. Still didn't stop the arguments, but he was cool with me. I've picked and hassled him since the NFL had forums. Probably since about 2000-2002. Sorry he's banned.
Sorry your smack still sucks

I talk to him some over on another board that I have belonged to for maybe the last 12 years.
Best reply to a fan complaint ever.

The Clowns are in the basement of the AFC North where it is damp and chills to the bone.

Wow. It’s truly times like these that cause me to say Poor Clowns. Poor Clowns Indeed frown
No need to put your post in the Smack Shack. Similar posts pollute the Pure Football and Game Day forums daily.
We get our SB every year. The draft. Oh wait…. We’ll be waiting 3 years for that now. Please resume.

Finally the message I have been preaching for years has filtered to the Puppy floppy ears in the other forums.

The angst and teeth gnashing of the fan base is justified. The Clowns front office is simply not interested in building a Super Bowl roster. The proof is in your record

Smh. It’s a reason why I sometimes say Poor Clowns. Poor Clowns Indeed! frown
Well, I think those guys are clueless..........so, take that for what it's worth.
Wow! It is times like these that cause me to say…

Poor Clowns. Poor Clowns Indeed! superconfused
Why is your lame azz even here in the Smack Shack?

In the 2023 NFL season, there was only one AFCN team that was totally shut out of the playoffs.
That team would be... yours.

#alosersmackswhat?

Enjoy your participation trophy, you 4th-place contestant.
You have a lot of nerve hurling smack after that one-and-done complete beatdown you suffered on Saturday. Just a reminder you didn't win the division either.
You Cleveland Clowns will be watching the rest of the playoffs from the couch just like we will.
You have a lot of nerve hurling anything when your WhoDeyHoe is 1-5 career. Then again, she folds like a cheap suit whenever she sees Myles Garrett.

See you again in eight more years.

Your team has essentially been on the couch for like a month.

He has a lot of nerve when someone else came here talking smack after not even making it?

Yea, well after playing in TWO consecutive AFC Championship games & ONE Super Bowl this not making the playoffs is an odd feeling for Bengals fans. Now for you Cleveland fans that feeling is normal, you never do any of those things. ;-)
Kinda like how Burrow just can't beat the Browns?

I know this isn't the case, which is what makes it weird... but you sound like 3/4 of the Bengals fans that I know that have only just started following the team in the past 3 years.

Your "team" watched CLE's playoff game from the couch... just like you.

It's been fairweather like that for as long as I have lived down here. When I was at Xavier from '01 to '05 (where my name comes from), I think I saw more Browns games than Bengals games my freshman and sophomore year because of all the blackouts.

When Marvin Lewis first showed up, it was "WhO dEy! BeNgAlS fAn FoR lIfE!!!!" After they shot themselves in the foot in the '15 playoffs, they sunk back into silence and obscurity until 2021.

Edit - I actually had a good chuckle out of this. I checked Medmann's posts, and his posting pattern pretty much proves what I just wrote above.
