This blows my mind. Nobody seems to be talking about it, but it looks to me like another one of those WTF moronic Browns moments. Did Mrs. Mara, Mrs. Rooney, Mrs. Halas, Mrs. Davis, Mrs. Kraft or Mrs. Hunt help select coaches and GM's? The only precedent I can think of is Georgia Frontiere (sp), and I don't think she played a role until her husband died....and her tenure was a soap opera.

Probably because she's one of the owners.

Dual face of ownership just in case Jimmy goes to jail? Not really, but maybe this is their way of spending time together, or maybe she actually has some quality input to add to the conversation.

Either way, they own it and it's their business.

When Jimmy was in all of the Pilot J trouble, I though that they added her to the organization, with all kinds of power.

jfan...I asked myself the same question but this is his team and he can put anyone, anywhere. His brand new baseball guy is now on the search committee..

Obviously, Haslam's search committee is subject to change on a daily basis.

What professional football knowledge each member of Haslan's group brings to the table, who knows. Having a sound NFL football background is obviously not one of the requirements.

that's a leading question,but I'll play.
No one is saying anything because it would not be politically correct to say a woman has no place making decisions within an NFL team. That is unless it's the Browns, where the only qualification is to have a pulse.

She is on the selection committee? How is the ownership divided up? If it is so that she is on the committee it give Jimmy and extra vote wink

I think it's more PR than anything. If he had to say it, I believe Jimmy would state that he's taking out a mortgage on his home to attract a coach.

It's basically his way of saying; I'm going all in.

But Razor is probably more correct!! lol

It's not PR. Dee has been slowly taken more of a role, not only with the Cleveland Browns, but with NFL committees as well. Let's not forget she isn't just "Jimmy's wife". Dee owns her own media company that created the Travel Channel and HGTV, if I recall correctly.

She ain't stupid.

When you look at ownership of the Patriots, you don't see Mr and Mrs Kraft (besides, she passed away a few years ago)

But if you go to the Browns site, you will see both Jimmy and Dee listed as Owners.

THAT IS WHY!

I thought about, not much though..

What comes to mind, is Jimmy is just trying show that they are all in on trying to turn this around...

Looks like it's going to be a , look we turned this around together. Or we failed you as an ownership together.

It's a family, they are trying as a family they are working as one..

Doesn't really bother me, What bothered me was the Walrus.

Most guys want a women who loves football.. looks like Dee does..

Because it's not hard to be a figurehead? Our owners support neo-traditional marriage values? I know she probably oversees most of our media, but I don't think she's really, really making any decisions on the committee.

Isn't she head of nfl committee on woman abuse? Was there rumbling about something like that recently in the browns? i would be more surprising if she wasn't part of the hiring process......

Who cares, of all the concerns we have, a thread is thrown up for this? Lol... only in Cleveland.

She probably sits there and judges character, so when her and Jimmy and laying next to each other, getting ready to call it a day - they can bounce around non-football ideas off each other. I didn't think anything of it when I heard Haslam indicate she was involved.

Question to all.

Is the Pilot thing Over. Is there a verdict of some kind Pending? If lets say he has time coming or a probation but the NFL takes the power away from him during that period of time.

If that is the case maybe he wants here involved with everything cause she would have to hold the fort of Ownership while he is gone.

I'm saying if there is a remote possibility. And who knows maybe she is way more intelligent than Haslam. Cause personally I think this plan is one of the best we got (ON PAPER) We have to see it work still. Maybe this is her genius and not Haslam and she is hiding behind his PANTS???

Just thinking out loud.

She's part owner, and that is that. I doubt she's any more or less qualified than Jimmy to make these decisions (and probably wouldn't do any worse up to this point, let's be honest).

They have a search firm doing the grunt work of the search, so everyone step back from this ledge.

When I buy a new car my wife goes. She doesnt ask to drive it, but she sure as heck gets to have input into the decision as it is both of our money.

Not sure why some of you are so upset about this. I did not even bat an eye when I read it the other day. So.... I decided at least Google his wife's name because honestly I did not even know her name. I assumed by all the complaining she was some ditzy trophy wife.

Turns out she has some impressive credentials. Obviously she is not a "football person" but that does not bother me at all. First of all, football people usually decide all coaching hires and about 20% get fired every year so football guys are no guarantee.

I also don't know how many of you guys interview candidates for jobs within your organizations. I have for over 30 years (since I was 21) and I think another perspective would be great to have in the room. I have also sat in on HS coaching and AD hires at our local HS because our school wants an Athletic Booster officer to be involved.

The questions I ask are completely different than those of the administration. Our school also has a parent and an academic teacher in the interviews.

People from different backgrounds see characteristics/traits in a different way. I wish she would have sat in when the scouts/coaches interviewed Gilbert, Manziel & West. Maybe the draft result would have been different. Why don't you wait and see instead of reacting as if you are privy to all pertinent information?

My last point is the one that matters most. She is one of the owners, and can do whatever she wants.

mac...

Why did you not respond to the questions I asked about the claims you made regarding Haslem's odd, bizarre and skewed from normal behavior? I answered to every one of your points as you ticked them off in your post but you ignored that totally, as you often do, and focused on the one thing where you think you have a point, you don't.

Based partly on our history of discussions over the years, and in the spirit of the Browns new organizational set-up, I've used analytics to determine the likely hood that you would respond to me explaining exactly what you mean, using examples, of Haslem's odd, bizarre and abnormal behavior.

My analytics says it won't happen.

You do realize Frontiere hired the right people building a super bowl winner!

Georgia was good people. She did a lot for St. Louis. Putting her in the same sentence as Marge Schott is a crime.
