She is half owner, and will become full owner after the divorce or upon his death, whichever occurs first.

Because she can.

And it has nothing to do with her gender. It has to do with the fact that she, most likely, has more money than this entire board put together!

These type of jobs are all in

They didn't say that she will be interviewing anybody but she is on the selection committee

I hope she's talking to each and every potential coaches wife

And weeding out any abusers so we don't have to go through any other embarrassments

Diversity, perhaps?

Was she involved with the spiffy new unis? If it is obvious to her, the pick is in. This made little to no sense to me either. Kind of a Schott thang?

I believe he is interviewing after his success to this point.

Might be wrong. Might welcome him if this process drags on.

Are there "homeless guy" analytics. Bet there will be soon.

Female intuition, the wild card! I do not know her, but if she can get us a coach to get us turned around, I will take it. Not hampered by knowledge at this point on my end.
Maybe she is like friends with Condy Rice and they talk football all the time.

Get it right, committee.

There are people that realize that they can control their own success and do so w/a positive outlook.

Then, there are people that thinking positively about a situation they have absolutely no control of will lead to success for that 3rd party.

I call that delusional.

It's just another foolish statement to make by this organization.

What is it Vers says? "Too many chefs in the kitchen".

So now we have a baseball guy, an attorney, a woman in the TV business and an owner who has failed twice in three years building the coaching staff and FO as part of the selection committee.

What could possibly go wrong!??

LMAO!

She probably knows just as much as Jimmy when it comes to football stuff, so what difference does it make?? What is it going to hurt? It is not like she will be hurting a championship franchise.

Because Hillary has a history in politics.

No one is complaining about her involvement due to her sex. We are complaining about yet another voice in the room that has no background in football.

I am not so sure what is so hard to understand about that other than some of you can't handle an opposing opinion???

I'm not the least bit concerned about Dee Haslam being on the selection committee and there could be a multitude of reasons she is on it.

So far, Jimmy's approach at finding a coach for the long term stands at ZERO ...why not give Dee a chance.

Hillary would have no history in politics if it wasn't for her husband...similar to Mrs. Haslam wouldn't have any say in Ownership committee if her husband didn't purchase the team. He probably had to put a lot of ownership in her pockets in case he had to sell his stock in the team via NFL in the case he went to prison with the Pilot stuff.

Don't know her from a hole in a wall but at least she has a history of leadership for an organization. We have a structure being set up where she could fill in - I don't want the Owner to make any decisions regardless who reports to them or not. Business yes, football no.

jmho the least of our worries.

How did you come up there is no football background? Sashi Browns is in his 11 year in the NFL. He is in charge of Cleveland's business sides. It is not like he was hired off the street and made captain of the ship.

I get they need a stronger football presence in the room. That, in theory, will come when they hire the coach.

I'm unsure how this business model Haslam assembled will work. If, and it's a big if, Haslam doesn't hire the right people this model will create a very political confrontation. In order for this to succeed, all pieces in the business circle, if you will, must communicate. Any mistrust or deception will derail it.

I don't think it is that important to have a football background to hire a coach. I don't think these coaching candidates are put through X's and O's type questioning at this point. I think it is pretty well assumed they are fairly proficient at that. I see this phase as discussing philosophy and management style.

Being a head coach is being a big part of the management team. I think the big part of this is it is important for all members of the team being at ease with each other. This isn't about finding out if candidate X can diagram a play.

Also this:

Let's assume Dee's football knowledge is minimal... sometimes it takes someone who doesn't know it all to ask the basic questions that the expert know-it-alls assume the answers to/are too lazy to ask/or just forget to ask. By all accounts she is an intelligent, capable person. I'm not sure how an unbiased person in the room asking questions is a bad thing to some people.

Football coaches are a different breed. Business people aren't necessarily going to "get" them without having a strong football background themselves.

All this group can do is establish if a potential hire will buy into the organizational set up and a stronger use of analytics. If he meets those two criteria they'll like him.

They'll like him having no idea of the validity of his football acumen.

You're confusing. Where did I reference Sashis' with "she?"

Have you not repeatedly said Browns have no football person in the interviews? I pointed out Sashi has 11 years in the NFL. That's is a long time in a business to be without knowledge for any industry.
