I typically don't ask this, but for this Memorial Day, if you Christians can say a prayer for my boys family. Yesterday I found out my boy from my second employment committed suicide.
This is the 6th brother I've personally lost from suicide.
Remember, the day is for fallen soldiers. So if you guys know any body in service that unfortunately lost their lives, much respect, and /salute.
“To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public.”
(by the way, one doesn't need to be a Christian to pray)
Sorry to hear, though.
It's as simple as "God, I don't know swish's friend, or his family. I pray that you grant the family some sort of peace in what must be a terrible time for them. I ask that your grace surround them, today, and in the future. Somehow, be with them, that their loss might not be completely devastating to them. I pray you grant peace to said person - and especially to his family, and to his friends. While I don't know him, or them, and I don't know the circumstances, I pray that you will offer comfort to the family."

My Pastor's daughter is engaged to a young man who was in the military, and suffers from PTSD. He has been in a counselling group, and other programs devoted to helping veterans who are in similar situations.
This young man has also become more involved in the church over time. He says that he really wasn't someone who had much faith in anything, but he has found himself growing in faith since his return, and as he has attended services. He recently also lost a friend who was struggling with PTSD.
One thing we should absolutely do is open the checkbook, and help the young persons who have served this country, and who we have put in harm's way, whether they suffer physically, mentally, emotionally, or all of the above.
This should be an "off the budget" mater, so we can get these American heroes the help they often need when returning home from their service.
Micah 6:8; He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.
John 14:19 Jesus said: Because I live, you also will live.
"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Jeudy is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Tillman is flanked out wide to the right. Judkins and Ford are split in the backfield as Flacco takes the snap ... Here we go."
More prayers are on the way. Prayers for him and his family, prayers for the other five families as well, and prayers for you as I know it's tough losing a friend, let alone 6 friends
Swish, I know you tend towards atheist types of beliefs, but you can pray too. You just leave god out of the prayer and request from the universe, nature, or just say 'I wish' in place of god. Use Arch's prayer and remove the parts you don't believe. It might help you feel better.
I would also suggest you get up with the rest of your buds you were deployed with to talk it out with them. It might be therapy for all of you.
Peace to this warriors family and to you. May he and others live fondly in our memories. There's much work to do in this field and I hope we as Americans never turn a blind eye to these men and their problems.
May God Bless America and those who have and are defending her ...
John 3:16 Jesus said "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life."
