I predicted 5 before the first game ... Looks like I'm going to be WAY WAY WAY SHORT at this rate ...

I think the play Kessler got hurt on was a screen pass.

It was supposed to be, but Hightower was unblocked and in his face.

They rolled us, just as I assumed it would go. Brady looked good. Kessler injury sucked.

In all reality, the injuries are just crazy...

Tough to win when the D gives up 30 points on average each week.

The Browns have a long ways to go, hopefully we can compete in 2-3 years.

At this rate I don't know if we'll ever get to these other teams' level ... unless we miraculously find the QB

We have a chance against the Titans and Chargers.

Hell, we have a chance against anyone, because you never know in the NFL, but our best chances are in those two games. Maybe Baltimore, even though it is on the road????????????

Actually and amazingly enough our best shot at a victory might be the Bengals. They look just terrible...just something looks off with them so far.

The Browns probably have the least talented roster that the NFL has ever seen, but the NFL in general isn't very good right now and there are a lot of below average teams.

if we were healthy? we'd win. With the players on the field today, probably not just b/c we would not be able to cover Calvin Johnson deep.

If we were healthy we'd be 3-2 right now and would have given N.E. a much tougher game.

Injuries are part of the game especially for the Browns who never have a relatively "healthy" team. They don't have any depth because of drafting and moneyball FA moves. Yeah they played three close games all of which they still lost. Bad teams lose the games that are close and they'll definitely be in a few more close games that they'll lose. They are what their record indicates and nothing more..

Don't fire the coaches. Don't care about going 0-16. Now...if we keep screwing up the draft...I'll get upset. LOL

Really thought that Cody Kessler was doing a decent job until he got hurt.. Too bad, the kid has some talent.

It's Tom "I can't lose" Brady.. That guy put the ball in places that doesn't seem possible.

We ran into a buzz saw yesterday. Didn't expect to win and we didn't.

This team has a long way to go.

Tenn is much better than folks are giving them credit for ... They been playing way better football then the JETS JETS JETS over the last 3 weeks ...

If Charlie Whitehurst starts against Tenn. we have ZERO chance of winning that one .. They'll KILL US ...

One of the posters mentioned there's a lot of really bad football teams and there are an abnormal amount of them this year .. I knew we were going to be bad .. I just didn't think anyone would be near as bad as us ... Was I wrong ...

Miami and SF are just as bad with Jax, SD, Indi, Hou, Chi, TB (they may be w/o there entire defensive front 4 tonight) and the NYG not to far behind in the rear view mirror ... Eli has been a bad QB for a few years now but because of who he is it never gets talked about ..

Between the lack of talent overall and the INJURIES in the league .. There's a lot of REALLY BAD FOOTBALL TEAMS ...

NE-CLE GRADES: TOM BRADY EARNS EXCELLENT GRADE IN RETURN

Quarterback grade: Cody Kessler, 57.1; Charlie Whitehurst, 56.2

That Charlie Whitehurst was the fourth-highest offensive grade for the Browns is more of an indictment of the Cleveland offense as a whole than a positive point for Whitehurst. Thirteen of his 22 aimed passes were thrown within ten yards of the line of scrimmage, though he had more success in the intermediate range (10-19 yards in air), where he went five of seven for 101 yards. Kessler’s day was cut short, and while he was reasonably effective as a passer, his afternoon will be marred by the bizarre decision to attempt a backward pass to Duke Johnson which resulted in a safety.

Top offensive grades:

LT Joe Thomas, 73.0
LG Joel Bitonio, 72.8
WR Andrew Hawkins, 70.5
QB Charlie Whitehurst, 56.2
HB Duke Johnson, 53.7

Browns’ offensive line dismembered in the run game

For a team with question marks at quarterback, a solid running game is a necessity, yet Cleveland failed to open any holes on the ground. Among linemen and tight ends, only John Greco and sixth lineman Spencer Drango (on just five snaps) managed a run-blocking grade above 50 as New England’s defensive line consistently worked off blocks to make tackles around the line of scrimmage. One of our highest-graded running backs coming into this game and averaging 6.5 yards per carry, Isaiah Crowell averaged a meager 1.5 yards per carry on 14 attempts, earning 19 of his 21 yards after first contact.

Top defensive grades:

LB Demario Davis, 81.9
DI Danny Shelton, 78.3
CB Jamar Taylor, 77.6
CB Briean Boddy-Calhoun, 76.0
ED Joe Schobert, 74.4

Mixed bag for Browns’ ILBs

While ILB Demario Davis grades as the top defender for the Browns, it was surprisingly his work in coverage that earned him that top spot. The fifth-year veteran was targeted seven times but allowed just four catches for 30 yards and notched a pass breakup as well. Davis’ stellar day in coverage was masked a bit by his struggles in the run game where he missed two tackles, took poor angles, and was blocked at the second level quite often. ILB Chris Kirksey was dominant in the run game notching a 96.3 grade in the category, notching an impressive eight run stops but he was the culprit for Gronk’s and Martellus Bennett’s big days allowing the TD reception to Bennett and getting beat by Gronk three times for 68 yards.

Horton needs to change up some of what is repeatedly killing us on that side of the ball.
Our D is very bad, and a few in the secondary are hurting us, but with no pressure, no press, and letting the ILBs go on this badly, no flat defense to speak of, we keep getting beaten and I see little from that unit as to how it is getting better, much less fixed. The success is widespread; the only question is how and where we will be hurt next. We are weak down the middle.

not a very good day grade-wise across the board ... but that's what I'd expect. It was a total domination

Really is it that many points? Wow. Tackle until Thursday. Tell Horton he can only drop one maximum. Send the rest. We are abandoning the LOS, and trying to fool 'em by trying to outcrop them hasn't panned any gold. Might as well lose aggressively while the learning in this plug-n-play season grinds on. Less abstract philosophy on paper and more tackling on the field.

So the game plan is keep them under 30. Ridiculous, but your goals have to be what they need to be as a starting point. Who can replace Poyer?

I am encouraged by some of the play I see on the field .. The Offense will a very fun unit to watch within a couple of seasons !

Hue and his staff got out Coached by the master ( to be expected ) for this young group .. I will beat MY dead Horse and repeat and repeat in your ear , Horton is not the answer for the " D " .. First to admit the lack of talent; but his lack of chess skills is glaring .. To their credit , the young men on the field played hard until the end

Don't look for Hue to make a change at "D" next season unless Haslam looses it by then !

The D did seem to play better in the 2nd half. If Cody didn't get hurt it may have been a much closer game. Can't make progress with all these qb injuries. They need to play together and grow. I will say, Cody looked good before the injury.

Browns are gonna hold a draft for QBs. No, I don't mean the NFL Draft in late April.

I mean, all able-bodied males 18 and older will be called upon to be drafted by the Browns this week. I'm expecting my draft card any day now.

We all get a short boot camp and then thrown in for a play or two before breaking a rib or something. Should be fun.

I'd say that this game went better than expected.

As for QBs, we need to just restart the list:

Re-sign Ty Detmer & Tim Couch; put Spergon Wynn, Doug Pederson, and Kelly Holcomb on speed dial.

Browns is the Browns

... there goes Joe Thomas, the best there ever was in this game.
