A WWE wrestler was recruited to join the cast of Survivor China, according to reports.
“CBS contacted WWE and asked them to send them someone that would make a good television character,” ProWrestling.com reports, citing the Wrestling Observer Newsletter. “With WWE already being low on male talent, it was obvious that they would send a diva. Vince McMahon and Kevin Dunn both felt pretty strong about giving Ashley the role, especially Dunn.”
Ashley Massaro’s storyline recently included a suspension, and the site reports that “Ashley is not expected back on WWE television until the end of the year and that is why she was ‘suspended’ from SmackDown.”
Production on this next season of Survivor has apparently not yet started, at least as of last week. The application for this season said that “[f]ilming is presently scheduled to occur sometime between June-August 2007,” but last Wednesday, Ashley posted to her MySpace blog, writing, “I’m sorry I’ve been so MIA. And now this. Things have been more crazy than ever and gettign suspended is just the icing on the cake. I promise I’ll write again soon when I can. I moved to NC. With my family. Last week.”
