A lot of what goes into running a football team is common sense although you certainly need football knowledge. If you don't know you go out and get answers. There's a lot of free opinion out there that you can listen to. ESPN always has someone giving an opinion about what is wrong and how to fix it. It wouldn't hurt to just listen.

I agree with the common sense part only as long as you have football guy(s) making the nitty gritty personnel decisions.

I am just thrilled that somebody in Jimmy's family realizes just how much of a stupid donkey Jason is cool

He might be a donkey, but the guy sure has called a lot of what goes on w/the Browns in recent years. And he does it before anyone else.

We used to think that Lombardi was his source, but he has to have someone else because he sure writes about these things before any other reporter. I wonder who it is?

I never said he wasn't an ass. I said that he has reported more stories correctly in regards to the Browns than any other writer out there, and that includes local writers.

He has to have an inside source to be right so many times.

Who is his source for all the times he is wrong? I have no doubt he talks to somebody. I also have no doubt that he makes crap up all the time as well.

J/c:

I thought this guy being groomed in the Browns org had something to do with Jimmy Haslem's issued. This report from the trial does not bode well for Jimmy.

Not good.

What's also obvious is that the Cleveland media has nearly gone out of their way to completely ignore the Pilot Flying J story. It's rarely, if ever, even mentioned.

I'm guessing they all have their drafts ready for their editors minus a few additions. They're just waiting to hit "send".

Does this mean we have an illegitimate owner? Cause that doesn’t sound too good.

Local media companies are pretty dependent on local businesses. It's very unusual for a local media outlet to go after one of the bigger companies in the city. If said company were to pull out of ads, that could help further crumble an already decayed organization. Not saying that is what's going on here, just that media doesn't talk too much about it.

What I want to know is what she says between 1:36 or the video and 1:43 of the video. She says Jimmy's voice is heard but she has NO IDEA which session his voice was recorded from. WTF That's like saying hey we have Jimmy voice recorded talking but we don't know when it was recorded or what he was talking about. notallthere

That seems kinda creepy. Any conspiracy theory types out there might just go ape over this, a bit reminiscent of the gaps in Nixon's tapes almost maybe possibly. Pretty intriguing, but not in any good way for me.

I understood it as, they didn't know what specific sales training session it was but that it was Jimmy's voice referring to their strategy. I only listened to it twice, so I could have been mixed up.

I wonder how the other NFL owners feel about The Haslams being one of the 32 members of the National Football League?

Found this, below...

link
Can an NFL owner be forced out by the league/other owners?

Short answer: Yes.

Section 8.6 of the Constitution and Bylaws of the NFL gives the Commissioner the authority to "take or adopt appropriate legal action or such other steps or procedures as he deems necessary and proper in the best interests of either the League or professional football, whenever any part or organization not a member of, employed by, or connected with the League or any member thereof is guilty of any conduct detrimental to the League, its member clubs or employees, or to professional football."

Further, section 8.13 gives the Commissioner the authority to hand down punishment for violations of the Constitution and Bylaws, and in cases where he determines that the punishments enumerated in the Bylaws are "not adequate or sufficient, considering the nature and gravity of the offense," he can refer the matter to the Executive Committee, who can then cancel the franchise operator's license, after which "the affected franchise shall be sold and disposed of" under the provisions of a different section. This would require the approval of three-fourths of the league's member clubs.

Long answer: Expect a protracted legal challenge if this is ever tried.

We don't want this! I'm guessing it renders any stadium contracts null and void. Free reign to move a franchise.

It's the billionaire boys club mac. They've had and still have some pretty sleazy characters in there. Irsay for one off the top of my head. Anything short of a felony conviction won't cause the other owners to blink an eye. Even then I doubt they see shady business practices as some big deal.

pit, it looks as if Jimmy tried to prepare for a worst case scenario, with his son in law (JW) "possibly" taking Jimmy's place, helping Dee (JW's mother) run the franchise if Jimmy is forced to take a leave of absence.

Is that going to be enough to satisfy the other NFL owners and the comish?

Bud, if you really think the other 31 billionaires care about this, they don't. Not unless he's convicted. We're a very long way away from that. And yes, it's happened before with the DeBartolo's. There has already been a precedent set.

For some on this board, that is plenty of evidence. But not sure how it is OK for "evidence" in any case. When and where and a guess are not much to build on.

No limits on Goodell's office here? Sounds easy enough to overreach, a criticism levied against him before. Just hope it doesn't hurt us in Cleveland.
