I'm good w/all that because I think all of the extremists are whacked. I think that there is good and bad on both sides. I think moderation is essential to moving forward. I think collaboration between both sides would produce better results than the narrow-minded, one-sided, ignorant stances. I understand the importance of compromise. I understand that you have to give a little to get a little.

I read the news and and view comments from posters on message boards and it's pretty scary. However, when I talk to folks face-to-face, it seems most people are tired of the extremists and are rational people who can see good and bad on both sides of the political arena.

I wasn't criticizing anyone for being a Socialist. It's their right. I have no problem w/that. I just don't think they have a snowball's chance in Hell of winning.

My bottom line is that I sure don't want to see four more years of Trump. His crazed tweet towards Iran demonstrates how dangerous he is.

I truly believe most folks are moderate and are willing to compromise. We don't want extremists from either side in charge.

We don't rely on a party. Run a Democrat I'll take a look. Run a Socialist and you don't have a chance. The fact is, if the Democrats decide to start running Socialists, it's the Democrats that will become unreliable at crunch time.

I choose to look at it as a way to finally have a 3rd party. Something desperately needed.

Firstly, not all Democrats are even pure progressives. So at that point you wouldn't even be attracting "all of your own base".

Actually, if the Dems run Socialists, it's them who will be starting a different party, no matter what they call it.

The order in which it comes matters very little.

The left is pushing more progressive. Whether or they stay branded as the Democratic Party or not makes little difference in the grand scheme of things.

As long as a viable third party comes along, that way you mods have a safe space to go to, and everyone is happy.

What I think you have trouble realizing is that there as many or more Mods than there are progressives. It seems it's you trying to take over the Democratic party/become a third party than I am.
