FYI this is a documentary put together of the event. I had only seen it from the news coverage that day and a few retrospective coverages, like the one involving Babbitt. This was more eye opening to me.

I am not sure I agree fully with some that you mentioned but I admire Jim Jordan very much. He is from my district. Back when he was at the statehouse in Columbus he stood up against then Republican Governor Taft. I agreed with him then and still do today. He stands with his district. Rails against Federal Government over stepping their bounds.

I agree with him. They cannot pick and choose what functions are good or bad. Either social distancing/masks work or it does not. That just shows hypocrisy. I have seen many Demoncrats not follow the same standards they force on others. What does that tell you? Government should not have control of people they should work for the people.

Those weren't even around yet. They wanted to prevent monarchy. A society of independently thinking people who hold politicians accountable and are not subject to the whims of any one demagogue.

I also don't see the value in changing the discussion to how a fringe subset of the Left wants to cancel the founding fathers in comparison to what happened. Often times it's painful to deal with issues like January 6th, but we have to, and I mean that in an objective sense. Many - or at least a handful - of Republicans who I respect - one of whom I went to high school with in Cleveland - realize the gravity of that day when viewed objectively.

This isn't even speaking to my views in terms of conservative or liberal. Honestly, based upon platforms and conduct, if someone like Adam Kinzinger went up against Biden for president, I'd vote for Kinzinger. I don't gravitate or defer to the Liberal platform.

You can look at my previous conversations with Pit, too. I actually disagreed with him that Trump really knew what was going to transpire, but the more that gets dug into this whole situation, the more my mind is changing on the matter. I think it's still possible that he was somewhat clueless, but in that case, those close to him (Bannon, Meadows, etc.) or those who want to use him as a vehicle (Boebert) have an even higher level of culpability.

To go on further, had Trump faded away after his presidency the way most former presidents do, and had January 6th not happened, I couldn't care less about what he's doing. However, January 6th did happen, it was serious, we need to figure it out, people close to him are actively resisting subpoenas to the point of being arrested, and he still maintains one hell of a sway on the party that I used to be a part of. We have to keep pulling on this thread.

I was not a huge Trump fan. I voted for our Governor during the primary in 2016. I now regret that decision since he completely stabbed his followers in the back. I do not like the way Trump acts. As a President he should have been above all that. I did like his policies and thought he was very good deterrent with our enemies and made our so called allies pay their fair share instead of relying solely on us US tax payers. He was very good to organized religion with his policies. Also, incredible with the economy. I did and will again vote for him over any and all Demoncrats. It is just a good vs evil thing with me. I see progressives as the largest threat against good in my life time. I think they are influenced by the spirit of the Anti-Christ.

I plan on voting for Nikki Haley in 2024.

Yeah, we all may very well disagree when it comes to platforms, and that's fine. People should have a healthy debate when it comes to platform issues. Everyone should certainly be allowed their own religious beliefs, too. That's not the problem. The problem, to me, is when those core beliefs turn into blinders.

Day, I won't debate you on calling the Democrats evil. We definitely see it differently and don't agree, but I'd just like to ask, how could you see what unfolded following the election, up to and including January 6th, and not similarly denote the presence of "evil?"

That however, is not the same as what took place Jan 6th. That was an attempt to overthrow our government.
It was an assult on what this country was founded upon. It is why we fought in the war of independence and world wars.

It's so sad we don't have statues of Hitler so we will never learn the history of WW2. Having a statue in places owned by the public is an honor of that person. A celebration of that person. If you actually think those who led troops into battle to keep slavery alive deserve to be held in a place of honor, I think we have a totally different perspective about who needs to be honored.
