I think the two days of practice against the Giants provided as much value as playing in a preseason game. Valuable reps against another team while reducing the risk injury.

Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

Aren't minor hamstring injuries a symptom of poor conditioning? Honest quetsion.

Can be that, poor stretching and warm up, needing better hydration, chronic aggravation (hammies are nasty to get over), cold weather. I had a coach told me/us once that you pull a string before you pull it.

Glad we are being cautious with injuries. Makes me wonder if we are doing enough flexibility training. Shhot the wounded and march. Real season starts soon! thumbsup

I’m just getting caught up on the last few days. It’s good to see Takk is back with the team. We need that third rusher and some DL depth … and my hope is that he can play DE and we can move Garrett or Clowney inside sometimes too

"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

The other day I called Takk out and said he'd likely never play a down for us. I'm SO glad to be proven wrong. I am seriously excited to see what he can do with the other guys on this DL.

yeah its a pleasant surprise. I’m hoping he can give us that depth and 3rd pass rusher we need

Browns' Jadeveon Clowney eager to exploit matchups vs. guards: 'They're not real athletes'
Nate Ulrich
Akron Beacon Journal

Browns defensive ends Jadeveon Clowney and Myles Garrett have developed a natural chemistry on the field since they became teammates for the 2021 season. [Phil Masturzo/ Beacon Journal]
BEREA — Jadeveon Clowney has felt a natural chemistry develop between him and Myles Garrett since the defensive ends and former No. 1 overall draft picks became teammates earlier this year.

They used to share an agent, Bus Cook, and had talked a few times long before Clowney joined the Browns in April by signing a one-year contract worth up to $10 million with incentives.

But they didn't really know each other until recently.

“Ever since I got here, me and him have been spending time together, talking, picking each other's brains because we know it's going to take us up front to get things going,” Clowney said Thursday before practice at CrossCountry Mortgage Campus. “We've already said that. We know what we've got ahead of us and what we've got to do. We've got to work together, so we need to know each other front and back for us to go out here and do what we do — dominate and play well.”

Jadeveon Clowney made Pro Bowls in 2016, '17 and '18 and is expected to give the Browns an imposing pass rush.
Clowney said earlier this summer a defensive tackle is more helpful to a defensive end than the end on the opposite side of the line.

Because Clowney and Garrett are versatile enough to occasionally rush from the interior and defensive coordinator Joe Woods wants them to moonlight as tackles, Clowney agreed he and Garrett would be able to assist each other in the way he described.

To say Clowney likes facing guards when he lines up on the interior would be an understatement.

“We love that matchup,” Clowney said. “We feel like they're the unathletic guys. That guard position, they're not real athletes down there. So they're just physical and maulers. But we try to get in there and create those matchups for certain guys and hopefully we get some wins.

“You've got to think different [on the interior]. Everything happens very, very fast down there. Those guys are much bigger down there. So, yes, your whole mindset has got to change in how you attack the quarterback, how you attack the guys down there.”

Of course, the key to Clowney attacking anyone is his health, and his long injury history has prevented the three-time Pro Bowl selection from playing a full NFL season since 2017.

Clowney, 28, had a stellar start to training camp but sat out a couple of weeks with what he described as “a strain.” Garrett also had been sidelined with a hamstring injury. They got extra time to bond, and both of them returned to practice Friday.

Browns analysis: Jadeveon Clowney vs. Jack Conklin — 4 games and camp have been telling

Clowney said he feels "pretty good" now.

“Have to take care of what you have to to get ready for the long season,” he added. “That was the goal — not to come out here and hurt nothing. If something happened, a little strain or something, take care of it now, so that it won’t linger later on.”

Browns coach Kevin Stefanski said he would announce Friday whether he'll play his starters Sunday in the preseason finale on the road against the Atlanta Falcons. The majority of them rested in the first two preseason games this summer, and Clowney hasn't appeared in a preseason game since 2018.

Asked if he needs an exhibition tune-up, Clowney said, "I hope I don't."

He would rather rest and be fresh for the Sept. 12 regular-season opener against the defending AFC champion Kansas City Chiefs.

If Clowney has it his way, he'll even rush against some guards at Arrowhead Stadium.

"He's very hard to block, so when it comes to game plans, I definitely feel like we need to move him some because he's a little bit lighter," Woods said. "When it comes to rushing the passer with the guys we have up front, we can move him around and we can create one-on-one matchups with whoever we want. I'm happy to have that in my arsenal. It will be on display at some point.”

I'm not quite a fan of letting your mouth get ahead of your proof on the field. I'm more a fan of a player showing us than telling us.

The video of that interview was posted on here. I thought it was pretty clear that he was goofing around and not being serious at all. That part didn't really come through in the articles....

But that is precisely why you don't say it. If you give reporters an inch, they will spin any tale they want with it. And maybe it doesn't matter, but now every G that sees that is going to see the written quote, not see the video.

It was a throw-away line. Nothing that anyone should take umbrage to. He didn't call anybody out by name. As far as proof, Clowney has already provided all that's needed. He has consistently made big plays from an interior Dline position against guards league-wide for much of his career.

For a big man is the operative word.. compared to other positions not so much...unless we're talking billings who is probably the least athletic on our team..lol... Schlereth is great. I usually enjoy all his takes

Just watched some of the Bills game.

Josh Allen looked good.

When the big quarterback draft was going on. I did my best deep dive into all the guys that were considered first rounders.

Baker, Rosen, Allen, Lamar, Darnold.

It was clear that Allen had a ways to go. He was inconsistent in many ways. Especially accuracy.

However, he was a perfect piece of clay to mold.

He had size, arm strength off the chain. He could run.
He was a boom or bust type guy. Huge upside potential.

Many times potential is not realized. As the case with Rosen and Darnold to date.

Allen has developed. He took a giant step last year in his overall game especially with accuracy.

The Bills payed up.

Folks, if he is 80% of what Ward has been for us, look out because this defense will be Top 3. Mark my words.

One would certainly hope that our first round draft pick would be the best rookie in camp. It may not always work out that way but it certainly should.

Newsome has a great attitude.

Listening to his press conference. Hard not to like this young blood.

Works hard. Loves his teammates. Wants to do well for the team.

It is easy to see why Berry took him in the first.

He is quick and smooth. Well stick his face right in there to make a tackle. He will be a good player for a long time.
