The Browns have 3 very good RBs on their roster. I think there is a trend around the league where teams are going w/dynamic RB duos. There are some really great duos out there and it got me to thinking which one was the best.

Here are some of the duos:

Aaron Jones & A.J. Dillon, Packers
Ezekiel Elliott & Tony Pollard, Cowboys
Nick Chubb & D'Ernest Johnson, Browns
Javonte Williams & Melvin Gordon, Broncos
Derrick Henry & D'Onta Foreman, Titans
Jonathan Taylor & Nyheim Hines, Colts
Dalvin Cook & Alexander Mattison, Vikings
Damien Harris & Rhamondre Stevenson, Patriots

Other teams like the Rams, 49ers, Eagles, Ravens [when healthy,] etc also have good duos.

Any thoughts on this subject?

Yep, you have to move Cleveland to the top of the list when you consider that Johnson is our 3rd Rb

I'm probably biased, but I would say:

1. Chubb and Hunt
2. Jones and Dillon
3. Williams and Gordon
4. Harrison and Stevenson
5. Zeke and Pollard

I'm sure there is a reason why, but you left Hunt out of the mix?

Sorry. I wasn't sure how to spell all the names of the guys, so I went to a site that had a list and copied some of the names. They had Johnson's name because Hunt was injured. My mistake. Sorry about that.

I literally had no idea to spell some of the names........like this one: Rhamondre. I googled a list of top RB duos and saw one that had the names. I copied the ones I thought were worthy of being mentioned. I forgot to change Johnson to Hunt. Dumb mistake on my part.

You didn't know how to spell Hunt? I'm messing with you tongue

I agree with your list, I might move Zeke and Pollard up one spot and drop Harrison into the 5 spot.

Kamara / Ingram would be a possibility of the 5 spot. They were a heck of a tandem a few years ago. I don't know how much gas Ingram has left and Kamara has some wear and tear on him.

I wouldn't put this duo in the top 5, but there is some potential to be with James Robinson / Etienne in Jacksonville. Robinson had some very good to great couple seasons, then Urban did whatever u want to call that crazy season last year. As for Etienne, I'm interested to see how he comes back from the foot injury. He could be a Kareem Hunt lite, great runner/great receiver. The reason i say "lite" is b/c Hunt runs with power/wreckless abandon and is a great runner. Etienne, though we don't have much to go by NFL wise, i would say is more finesse runner...but is a good runner with great receiving skills. Also, will Trevor L. take the next step and take the pressure off this duo with consistency at the QB position.

FYI, D’onta Foreman plays for the Panthers. Hassan Haskins and our buddy Dontrell Hilliard are Henry’s backups.

Thanks. I did not realize that Foreman signed w/the Panthers this offseason as a FA. Seems like a strange move for him because the Panthers already have Hubbard as McCaffrey's backup while the Texans' backups are not all that. Foreman played very well when Henry was out last year.

With a healthy McCaffery, does that add them to the list?

McCaffery was THE best running back in the NFL 3 years ago, then the injury bug derailed him completely. If he is healthy like they are reporting, that could put this trio on the map in 2022.

Yeah, I think so. I didn't even think of McCaffrey/Hubbard yesterday because the former was injured last year, but you are right in that he is as good as anyone. Also, Hubbard looked pretty good last year.

I didn't use their information. I only copied the names for spelling purposes. They had a very different list from mine and I didn't agree w/their takes. The opinions on the best backs are mine alone. Again, it was just for spelling purposes. Now, do you have anything to add in regards to football or are you just going to be the board police?

vers...I have a list (#1 to #10) that I came across that is very similar to your's ...

I will copy and past the just the names listed in the article, from this link... Best RB Duos

1. Jonathan Taylor & Nyheim Hines, Colts
2. Javonte Williams & Melvin Gordon, Broncos
3. Aaron Jones & A.J. Dillon, Packers
4. Nick Chubb & D’Ernest Johnson, Browns
5. Ezekiel Elliott & Tony Pollard, Cowboys
6. Derrick Henry & D’Onta Foreman, Titans
7. Sony Michel & Darrell Henderson, Rams
8. Dalvin Cook & Alexander Mattison, Vikings
9. Damien Harris & Rhamondre Stevenson, Patriots
10. James Conner & Chase Edmonds, Cardinals

I'm not sure about accuracy of some of the rushing totals the source is using for this article...The Browns have a unique situation where they have 3 rbs who contributed in 2021 and totaled 2179 yds combined. link

Sleeper duo in 2022.....The Ravens w/ Dobbins and Edwards.

Also, and maybe I'm missing something, but I don't get why Sony Michel is in over Cam Akers. I thought he was on the Dolphins. Lol. I think Akers and Henderson is also a underrated duo too, unless I'm missing some new injury.

I'm curious if having a very strong running back duo
Can equate to a Super Bowl visit ?
The game is so pass heavy now , which is better ....
2 stud RBs or 2 big time WRs?

I think the answer is if you have a franchise QB you can be more successful in many different models.

Michel was acquired in a trade by the Rams. The list mac posted was the list where I copied the names down from. I came up w/my own order because that list was dated. Akers was injured when the list was assembled and there were some other mistakes like Edmonds, Hunt, and as scott pointed out....Foreman. Although, I was not aware of him changing teams.

I wasn't trying to equate it to a Super Bowl. My intention was that more and more teams are going w/multiple RBs and we are one of those teams. It makes a lot of sense to me because RBs tend to wear down. Having 2-3 reliable to excellent backs is smart.

I agree about JK and Edwards are/were solid.

The Steelers would be easily top 10 if Najee Harris had a solid compliment with him. Benny Snell and McFarland are meh. I was really surprised last year how many carries they gave Harris as a rookie.

One thing about ranking RB duos that may lead to disagreements is how much importance does one place on the word "duos?" For example, the video I posted said the Colts because it could be Taylor and anyone else. The same could be said of anyone w/D. Henry. But, the backups in some places don't receive a ton of time.

My top five has duos where both guys get a ton of playing time. It's also part of the reason I started this thread. I think that the wear and tear on RBs is immense. Thus, I believe that having two really good backs that can share the load is sound strategy. The Browns got lucky in that Dorsey got Chubb in the 2nd round and then gave Hunt a chance after his issues and subsequent release from KC. I might not have this exactly right, but I think Berry renewed Hunt's contract or extended it and gave Chubb a new contract, thereby securing both backs for a few years. I think they deserve credit for sound planning.

If we are talking about the best RB Room in the NFL, then the bus stops in Cleveland. We are more than 3 deep IMO. I honestly believe that Demetric Felton, John Kelly, and Jerome Ford would be on a Game Day Active Roster just about anywhere in the league and be productive. (Kelly is overlooked IMO which considering our room...it is easy to do.)

If we are talking about best duo's...the race really tightens up...

I really like Denver and the Colts. But I still can't get past Cleveland at #1 with Chubb and Hunt...( I can admit if I am a little biased...But I also think I am trying to be very logical about it as well)

CLE
DEN
IND

I think these duos are a step above the rest of the league

Going back to complete RB rooms....with the addition of Phillip Lindsay...I think Indy jumps to #2

Nope they have a lot to prove....

November 28 2021 at Baltimore they were held in check SNF.
And they both played in this game
Chubb and Hunt Combined for 15 carries for THIRTY SIX!!! rushing yards, and 2 catches for 23, a total all purpose yards of 59, and no TDs on the day.

In that game, Lamar Jackson had 17 rushes for 68 yards, and no TDs.
Baltimore runners, D. F? 16 carries 52 yards, 1 catch for 8 yards
Ladavarius Murray, 8 rushes for 14 yards.
But Mark Andrews TE, had 4 catches on 10 targets for 65 yards, a long of a 39 yd catch and ONE Td on the day. The Browns lost 10-16?

Can Deshaun Watson play better for the Browns, than Baker Mayfield would have? ... Now the Games count.

Ours are at the very top of the heap IMO. Add in Johnson and it’s easily the best unit in the NFL.

Green Bay also has two good backs with Jones and Dillon. I also think Denver is sneaky good with Williams and Gordon.

"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

if healthy, it has to be us. i think it would be between Chubb/Hunt and the ravens duo of Dobbins/Edwards as the top in the league.
