Wish he would have played for us since week 2. I’m fearful it’s too little too late.

But clearly we need help at LB … BIG TIME

He just came off the PUP list after having off season shoulder surgery. I'm not sure he has much of any impact this year.

In 2021 he had PFF overall grade of 34.6 with 26 missed tackles and allowed passer rating of 121.1. In 2020 overall PFF grade was 68.7. Best years were 2018 (73.7) and 2019 (76.6).

I'll be curious to see the salary details. For this season he has a cap hit of $13.2M. Next year has a cap hit of $20.1M and dead cap of $12.1M.

This tells you just how bad the Browns LBs have been. Falcons were talking about trading him back in the offseason, but had to wait until he came off the PUP list.

Panic move.

The Browns are one of the worst teams in the league and no one in the organization saw it coming.

The youth and inexperience of those in charge is really showing.

I know negativity rules the day, but the dude was a Pro Bowler. Is a late round pick for him a really bad deal? Really?

I think it’s just telling HOW bad our defense has been . They literally did it hours after a game. Couldn’t stomach to see Phillips out there any more

Right...........Walker was one of the highest graded LBers by PFF. Believe in them or not.....it's not a stretch to think that Jones might help. We gave up a late round pick. Big deal. It's not the end of the world.

Coaches and front office scapegoating the players. No way this does anything to help the D.

How does he compare to the (history) of Mack Wilson.

Can Deshaun Watson play better for the Browns, than Baker Mayfield would have? ... Now the Games count.

Jones had 137 combined tackles last season with a bum shoulder. I like this move. I would also bring in another DT.

Bet it was before that. Berry was probably on the phone when Ekeler had 11 rushes for 148 yards before the 3rd quarter was over... when he had 45 carries for 145 in the first 4 games combined.

When did he come off the PUP list? Is it possible that we had worked on a trade for awhile but couldn't officially do it until today? (honest question)

as bad as the Lb's are, DT is worse, even average DT play and the LB and DE's look that much better. There were guys like Martinez available when Walker went down that would have helped more than this. Not a good look waiting until desperation to make a move.

This part is good news. Low risk flyer. Expectations are low, but the salary cap implications were the initial concern.

Aren’t you the guy that was just complaining that Berry doesn’t admit when he makes a mistake? Isn’t that what he just did? Saw Phillips wasn’t the guy so he traded for someone who has been?

Dude might not work out, but it was certainly worth the risk. Our LBers have been horrible.

I mentioned on the Other Games thread how similar we are to the 49ers. The big difference is that they have two kick-ass LBers in Warner and Greenlaw.

Warner is an excellent all-around LBer. Maybe the best in the game. Greenlaw is a mean SOB. They make plays all over the field.

Is Jones a mean SOB?

We need many more mean SOBs... since we have, well, zero.

That was complaint last year, that's my complaint this year.

Absolutely. No. NASTY.

No, we had too many personal fouls today because the D was playing mean and incompetent.

It’s a clear sign that we SHOULD be winning games now. That’s why it’s so frustrating: we have the offensive talent (even without the top tier QB), but our defense is literally THAT bad

Taki was bad yesterday. In fact, our entire LB corp was bad. They’re all extremely flawed.

This is the issue I have with this. Phillips, Taki, and JOK were all 2-4 round picks and all played for big college programs. They shouldn't be as bad as they are playing which is the worst linebacking corps in the league.

Coaching matters.

But now the organization is playing follow the bouncing ball and is trying to convince fans it's the players. It's disingenuous.

I always end up being right on this stuff. The coaching is really, really bad.

I had a similar comment with a buddy: here’s the hierarchy … players get the blame, then coordinators, then HC, then GMs.

As soon as we start blaming the players (which this trade basically does), obviously the coordinators will be next

Do you have links for this damning claim? I haven't read the articles where the organization is throwing the players under the bus.

You mean other than the fact the Browns made a trade after the game for a player who will replace a current player?

What is it that you are looking for exactly?
