Thompson LB over who? Obviously for Special teams considerations...no doubt in my mind Mangini would have loved him and use him for ILB...but I don't think he would start over Barton. Just another learning experience for a guy forever being in a learning experience.
Russell - haven't watched too much of the Seahawks - but got a good friend who does n is a fan and he hasn't spoken well of Russell since his move there. At this stage I don't think he beats out Pool - Adams yes, Pool no.
Sean Jones...and Elam are one in the same except that Elam shows more speed and less down time due to Injuries. Also Jones has Peaked it seems - we'll see if Elam will progressively get better, considering this is first full time opportunity as a starter we can probably ASSume so but you never can tell.
O'Hara is the one who got away. Man was that a bone head move by Butch...playing him at RG instead of Center his natural position.
Faine...is doing well in his Division...I don't think he would be good for ours and wouldn't be successful.
Fowler...backup at best - I'd take Hadnot over him anyday.
Bodden has failed since leaving us...and no where close to beating out McD or EW I would liken him to be equal to Hood...oh wait we just cut Hood
Andre Davis I thought was a mistake to let him go??? I know he was always injured with us - but that does not seem to be true with his tenure with the Texans.
Possibly our draft would have been a little different had he stayed here???
Bryant??? Come on we all knew he was talented...don't forget he was NotForLong with Dallas, Us and the 49ers - there was a reason. Maybe he has found God or something and turned his attitude around....Talent? everyone knew he had Talent. I ain't going to fret too much over a WR with tude.
Man did our drafting SUCK over the years.
Can't stress the importance of Savage and changing the face of our team once n for all to get out of the Bowels of Expansion!!!
Thank you Savage...I'll never forget!

Well the topic here is who would MAKE the team...not who could start... Quote:

I won't say it...but I deserve to say it to allot of people out there...because it's awfully tough being right all the time...LOL
I thought I was wrong once....but I was mistaken...

Ummmm....you should take a look at his drafts and the team we have on the field. I don't think it's possible to look at our team and say we have even an average team talent wise. Savage at least made the gimmie pick of Thomas when Detroit foolishly passed on him. But the vast majority of his picks have been duds plain and simple.

I disagree with how he gave away draft picks and his philosophy in FA...but he was a scout and had a scout's eye.... http://www.nfl.com/draft/history/fulldraft?teamId=1050&type=teamSynopsis: 2008 Definite contributors: Rubin and Hall Possible contributors: Rucker and Hubbard (I guess Bell can still be here?) 2007 Definite contributors: Joe, Quinn, Wright, McDonald Possible contributors: Steptoe (in 2010) 2006 Definite contributors: Wimbley, D'Qwell, Harrison, Vickers Possible contributors: Sowells (I expect him to be cut though) 2005 Definite contributors: Edwards, Pool Possible contributors: None So, Phil had a bad draft in 2005, though that was a bad draft overall. And we got the best value in the top10 picks (even with Braylon's troubles). Outside of 2005, Phil was very good at making selections. We are so close to the situation, so we see Wimbley over Ngata, but the fact is that Wimbley is still a starting OLB for us. There are many teams that would kill to still have every single 1st and 2nd round draft pick from the past 4 years starting for them now.

And let's not forget the duds he brought in as Free Agents:
Shaun Rogers C Williams E Steinbech D Anderson JJ R Smith H Fraley And an UDFA named Cribbs that's pretty good.

ahhhh the Monday morning GM's -
1. I said build the team in personnel...thats FA + Draft.
Adams FS, Ali FB, DA QB, Bartel QB, Beau Bell LB, Cribbs WR/Returner, BE WR, Fraley C, Hadnot OG, Hall LB, Harrison RB, Hubbard WR, DQ LB, Lawson DB, Leggett WR, Lewis RB, McD CB, Pool FS, BQ QB, Rogers DT, Rubin DT, Rucker TE, RobaireS DE, Sowells OL, Stallworth WR, Steinbach LG, JoeT LT, Vickers FB, CoreyW DE, Leon LB, Wimbley LB, Wright CB, Z punter.
Sure some there are dead wood but all right now on this team and a solid foundation for the very first time for a NEW HEAD COACH and REGIME to build a team with...Actually a foundation that most teams have the luxury to possess which we never had till this POINT OF TIME.
This is not OPINION whatever you may think of Savage...he was pretty good at spotting talent. And the vast majority there are not Bums and if not Browns would be able to provide contributions to most NFL teams.
Its happens to be a fact and I defy anyone to disprove it as fact
Can it be Improved upon...Of course and I hope it will and think it already has!
But for the VERY FIRST TIME since 1999 we got TALENT here for a new coach to build a team around!!!

Hmmmmm................From where I'm sitting, Savage didn't ultimately do much for us.
We're still a bottom-feeder in the NFL while lacking even mid-level talent at many positions.
I think some people overvalue what Savage did because the people who came before him were so horribly pathetic.
In a league full of three-course meals, we were stuck with army rations. All Savage did was give us a couple of good players via the draft, amounting to ordering us a pizza *L* Yeah, he gave us a few good players, but he also missed as much as he hit.
I can't award Savage any kudos when we're right back at the bottom of the division several years after his hire. In the end, he didn't do much for this organization.
Regarding former players, William Green?!?! He couldn't make any other NFL team because he was a sorry back.
I'll tell you all the one that got away: Jeff Garcia. Botch screwed that entire situation up, so we ultimately lost a pro-bowl caliber QB.
***Gordon, I really didn't think you could be this stOOpid, but you exceeded my expectations. Wussy. Manziel, see Josh Gordon. Dumbass.***

Ok, how about the fact we still are last place in our division and still lack a pass rush. It finally looks like we can at least attempt to stop the run now, thanks to 2 new DEs.
How about the fact that mangini turned over a ton of the roster.
I doubt some of the players you have listed probably won't make the team this year or next. I doubt Bell and hubbard make the team, considering M/K drafted 2 LBs and 2 WRs. What kills is that we traded up to get those guys! Stallworth is probably gone too.
He was an ok GM, he only looks good because of what he followed.
We're trying to throw the ball downfield and he checked the ball down to Trent Richardson and the Indians on the choice.

If we don't consider current players: Cortney Brown who when healthy was a real pass rusher and run stopper. O'Harra was a good Oline prospect that we traded to get more Oline prospects but that never made any sense since we were not building. McKinley was a decent Dlineman and so was Spires. Our absolute best player from the past was Jamir Miller who was a real LB that instilled fear in RBs. Wohlabaugh was a good center that we traded for another center which was very stupid. Kevin Johnson was a very dependable WR. Winslow was a player but not too smart. Cris Gardocki would be a close challenge to Zastridill Terelle Smith was a powerful FB that Lewis could use although Vickers is still very good. Earl Homles could be very useful in the middle

"Ok, how about the fact we still are last place in our division and still lack a pass rush."
I'm sorry...last I looked we were Undefeated like the rest of the teams in our Division...gee how bout we actually play the games!
"How about the fact that mangini turned over a ton of the roster."
Not going to look it up...but I believe the NFLeague average is 33% turnover???
Last I looked we had 30 out of 53 still on the roster - thats 43% turnover but keep in mind...10 of the 23 roster moves are ROOKIES...not a normality.
Ton of roster??? I still don't get your point anyways. Here are the Facts. 27 of the 30 were brought here by Savage and most are the nucleus of this team.
M/K did well to shore up the edges, get some depth where needed. Added 10 rookies for the future!
We didn't see a PLETHRA of big FA expenditures usually needed by our new regimes. And then try to build a team around those FA's.
Most of what we got now are Home Grown...and we are not dumping 11 mil per year Under Achievers which we did in the past.
DG - those players either retired or didn't really have it.
One thing about Miller...he came to us an underachiever...he still underachieved when he was with us. When FOGE was brought here...he went into an Attack D especially with Jamir, who the first time in his career was used in this fashion and he produced...man did he produce. But it was a ONE year thing (again system not the individual) but he always was in a READ n REACT Defense expcept for that one SEASON - later tore the Achilles and never played again.
KJ out of football???
Smith? we let go and got Vickers an upgrade.
Spires...had a good year after we left...out of football.
O'Hara was the only one I thought that got away which was an error.
But my point is for a new Regime to Build a team around....Never did we have 30 relatively Young and starters for a new Regime.
Thank you Savage...was he perfect? No but Thank you anyway cause its the first time a new Regime has what we got!!! And that is a Chance to Build something GOOD and FAST!!

Really?
I mean really?
I actually like coaches like Mangini that are bottom line.
But bottom line roster wise, please don't tell me that you think we're loaded. As in Phil Savage had total and I mean total control (he even fired Crennel's kid). And what do we have now?
Crap. Simply crap.

I think we're slightly above the "crap" level. But your point is well taken. And you must remember eo always thinks we're way better than we are. All of his corrective lenses are rose colored.......

You know...go make up crapola to suit your pity state. But there is a far cry from saying we have a Solid foundation to start "BUILDING ON" from WE ARE LOADED...
"And what do we have now? Crap. Simply crap."
One of us is in a state of denial - and it ain't me. But go ahead and live in your Brown world of Pity...but sorry I don't see the Crap...Simply Crap. That you do.
If thats your leg...good luck
Boy the doom n gloomers really get it bad the closer we are to our first game...lol it must be the full moon.

just wait until after our first game....I think we are fine for the season, but the first matchup just is a bad one for us (with their DL, OL, RB...Favre before his arm gives out)
