google copy: The Packers agreed Monday to deal quarterback Aaron Rodgers and their 2023 first-round pick (No. 15) and a 2023 fifth-round pick (No. 170) to the Jets for New York's 2023 first-round pick (No. 13), a 2023 second-round pick (No. 42), a 2023 sixth-round pick (No. 207) and a conditional 2024 second-round pick that becomes ...

blah blah... good deal, moving on, I care more about the Browns upcoming draft.

I'm trying to be less reactionary, and less negative. fingerscrossed

In the end the Jets end up trading the equivalent of a roughly early to mid 1st rounder depending on the conditional pick (based on the Jets finishing with the 16th pick next year). The Packers also have 40m (ish) cap hit over 2 years and the Jets have a cap hit this year of about 16m (prorating the 59m bonus over 4 years)

Seems like a pretty good deal for both teams.

Great! I needed a diva break. This has exceeded my attention span.

Gee did we ever overpay for Watson...our trade sucked. We could have had Rodgers for crying out loud!!

Nonsense! Watson is 14 years younger than Rodgers.
The Jets got fleeced by GB ... no other team was going to take Rodgers and his 60M off of their hands.
Posted By: eotab Re: Aaron Rodgers Traded - 04/25/23 01:38 PM
All you guys are in some dream state. We have Watson for 4 years at best you act as if we will have him for 10 years. As soon as that contract is up and he hasn't won a championship he is going right back out on the market. Its all about the $$$ - loyalty that left the window a long time ago. So it will be he needs one more year in Stefanski's system so we will have him for 3 years. The deal sucked - our running game with our OL and playaction abilities Rodgers would be amazing. Come on Watson for Rogers it not even close.
Posted By: FATE Re: Aaron Rodgers Traded - 04/25/23 01:41 PM
So you're saying Rodgers would win us a Super Bowl but DeShaun cannot?
Posted By: eotab Re: Aaron Rodgers Traded - 04/25/23 01:46 PM
Watson did not show us last season that he would win us a championship...ya think he did ??? A lot of improvement needed "Cannot" never say never Rogers btw has won a championship, Watson has not shown that he can. I'm still waiting on him to apologize to those women!
Posted By: FloridaFan Re: Aaron Rodgers Traded - 04/25/23 02:22 PM
Biggest deal with Rodgers is he could retire after this coming year, especially if he doesn't see the team as a contender. I don't expect him to play more than 2 more years at best.

I've never been on the Deshaun Watson band wagon - I think that's pretty well known. But Rodgers is 39 and has become a diva (even if his talent is unquestioned) - Watson is 27.

All things considered and if Watson actually turns out to be anywhere close to his touted "Top 5 QB" billing that we saw from many on this board and in the media - then we will have had the better end of the deal from a purely on the field performance perspective. Only time is going to tell.

Aaron Rodgers for all his talents does not produce
When it matters. He is over rated. How many championships
Has he led GB to? Aaron Rodgers. Big time arm.
HoF talent. But not a winner
Posted By: jacksondawg Re: Aaron Rodgers Traded - 04/25/23 04:11 PM
He averages 3.5 wins the last 2 years.
You mean top 25?
Posted By: FATE Re: Aaron Rodgers Traded - 04/25/23 04:33 PM
You're traveling through another dimension -- a dimension not only of sight and sound but of mind. A journey into a wondrous land whose boundaries are that of imagination. That's a signpost up ahead: your next stop: Aaron Rodgers!

Aaron plays the timetable like a five-dollar diva. He's coming, he's not coming, he's in a hut in Guatemala for a week making up his mind. Finally, after much contemplation; after making multiple teams stack and unstack their roster to his liking, state their deal, sweeten their deal, sacrifice small animals in his name... He decides! After years of the annual bowing of the teams to a God called Wishful Thinking, He decides!

He's going to the Cleveland Browns!

You've just crossed over into... the Twilight Zone.

Great - now go find "your team" and it's web site and talk board and post there.

The Jets are in a win now mode just like us except for one thing; with Rodgers age they don't have as much time as we do. Rodgers may play one year and hang it up. With his antics you don't know what he'll do.

Eo, the age difference alone was enough for me to say no, but then there is Rodgers crazy talk. The guy is a little off center.... a hair out of round... LOL.

I didn't and don't like the Watson trade, but there is an even chance he'll turn it around and be the QB we need for the next 5 or so years. Rodgers won't last another 5 years in the league.

I'll stick to Watson...at least for now.
Posted By: PitDAWG Re: Aaron Rodgers Traded - 04/26/23 06:44 PM
Watson is under contract for four more years. But keep in mind what happened with the Texans. He refused to honor the contract he signed only six months earlier and refused to play while demanding to be traded. I mean if people are going to consider past actions to predicts future actions there's more to be considered here than just age

You mean with his arrogance, I am sooooo glad we didn't try to get Rodgers tsktsk

Prediction the Jets beat us by 2 touchdown when we play them.
2nd point Rodgers took a huge pay cut so that they can win.
Posted By: jacksondawg Re: Aaron Rodgers Traded - 04/26/23 10:40 PM
Your right about that come year 4 there is a excellent chance
He does not honor his contract wit 1 year left.
But to be honest his performance in are stadium is noteworthy in how horrible
It is

That's the most bombastic thing I have heard in quite some time. rofl

"The Jets will also acquire Rodgers' contract, which includes nearly $60m in salary and bonuses this season."

What happened in Houston with DW contract does not mean it will happen in Cleveland.

Past performance does not equal the future performance.

There is no assumption about what he will do. The situation in Houston was entirely different. Different place, different time and much different circumstances.

Maybe in four years we will know more.

Unless of course we can predict the future like jackson can.

Excellent post this buds for you.

You don't have a clue. My dislike for the trade centers around the fact that he, Watson, had sexual miss conduct with no remorse with over 20 women and how many more. The QB for a team has a character obligation.

2. When he did get a chance to play I expected a steady improvement and was surprised when I did not see any. Ironically so many of the complaints about Baker were evident in his play.

I hope he does well because he is a Brown. But I am not a fan of his at all. I once was but he has the lowest possible character imaginable!

Your statement is slanderous.

Look for the Dawgs pod cast from last week and you will see how Watson is being falsely portrayed by fake news. He has never been convicted of any sexual miss conduct. This was nothing more (with testimony to back this up) than a money grab by those women, and an assult on his character by the Texans organization using a slimbag mouth peace and friend.

And you're basing everything on one person and a podcast while ignoring 24 women and casting shade on all of their characters. Sad, just sad.
