I watched the Baltimore/Indy game last night. IF Flacco is healthy, I could see Baltimore winning the division or getting a wild card spot. Their defense looks good, Flacco looked sharp.
Andrew Luck is a cause for concern, he throws nothing outside the numbers or past 15 yards. If I were a Colts fan I would be concerned.
RG3 and Lamar Jackson look like mirror images of one another. I definitely get why they brought RG3 in. They share the same weaknesses and strengths. Both are terribly inaccurate but both have great speed. Lamar is on the RG3 rookie season level athleticism if not more so. He also has the RG3 accuracy…..downright horrible.
Lamar Jackson is a project folks, no other wat to slice it. Some of his throws last night were atrocious, I think he was 0/5 at one point and looking putrid. Then he put together a couple of nice throws and runs. Threw a very nice ball on the run for a TD……but overall they had better be all in on Flacco because Jackson should be listed as “Athlete” and not QB.
When you watch Flacco, Suggs, Williams and Yanda all standing around, chatting…..envy sets in, we don’t have any veterans that good and haven’t for a long time.
Lamar has to sit for a year for sure, I think everyone knew that.
But he’s flashing talent playing with a bunch of backups. It’s why i don’t say much about Baker mayfield, or any of the other QBs drafted in the first round.
Lamar needs to sit. But if Flacco has another one of these super average games to start the season, then who knows.
if I were a Colts fan I'd be concerned with how Luck looks ... nothing down field, seems really off to me. Nothing like he was.
Obviously it's early, but still
in terms of Lamar ... he's a LONG ways away. Not even close to what Watson was like last year
in terms of Lamar ... he's a LONG ways away. Not even close to what Watson was like last year
I tried to tell people two years ago that I would have taken Watson with our 2nd pick (1st round) and I would have TRADED UP from our 2nd pick to get him.
There were a TON of Watson haters that year. I won't name names.
Yes you are correct Lamar and Watson aren't even playing the same game. Watson is a slinger and Lamar is a glorified running back at this point. I mean MAN is he athletic, I totally get whey people wanted him to be a WR, he could be a great one with that speed and agility!
Kizer just threw a pass that should have been a pick 6.
GB literally played with their second team ... they didnt wanna mess with Oakland's dirt
The Titans at the Stllers is beginning.
Steelers offense has so much talent ... and that's just with the guys who are playing right now
Conner looks better than any of our backs
Broom just threw a 32 yd TD to Justin Hunter, ruled out of bounds was clearly in will be a score.
There's been a lot of underneath completions after the first guys off the line go deep to clear space,
from both teams.
Tennessee is a team that has talent, but I'm never confident in winning
Mason Rudolph looks like the real deal, was my 2nd favorite to come out this year. I think he looks better than Landry Jones already.
I think the Steelers have so much offensive talent (and good offensive coaches)
I think the Steelers have so much offensive talent (and good offensive coaches)
But their Defense is below average and their secondary in poor ... JMHO

That wouldn't take much
I think the Steelers have so much offensive talent (and good offensive coaches)
But their Defense is below average and their secondary in poor ... JMHO plus, Landry says we'll score 40 a game so that will be good
Lamar had 1 passing TD and 1 rushing TD
Kenyan Drake has a chance to be electric for Miami
Lamar had 1 passing TD and 1 rushing TD
He was by far the best player in the field playing with the backups.
Thats what I expect from a first round pick....
This Atl v Jax game is pretty good. They both make offense look so easy.
CAR took it to NE in the first quarter .. ran it down their throats
This Atl v Jax game is pretty good. They both make offense look so easy.
Hmmmm... Kessler also looks good.
first play by Cincy ... a BOMB to John Ross for a TD
he played both those dbs for the Bills.
people could be underating the Bengals this year.
that was a really neat play
Cincy's 1st team O looks really good ... Dalton is spreading it around and Mixon looks improved
Ross Eifert Green Mixon have all caught the ball.
hard to defend that
Ross Eifert Green Mixon have all caught the ball.
hard to defend that
nice to see eifert back
Allen is getting destroyed by Bengals pass rush
5 sacks already
Cincy's DL is destroying Buffalo's OL
i see somehow Brian Dumboll is still in the NFL.
what a joke of a OC.
I dont know if Buffalo has more than 30 yards in the first half
Cincy's DL is destroying Buffalo's OL
And Josh Allen is hurt.

took a big shot by the turf
Bills have the makings of a 1 and 15 team
Bills have the makings of a 1 and 15 team
yeah, they dont look good at all today
Even with a bad O Line, Baker looks much batter than Allen, he reminds me of Bledsow
Bills have some life with Peterman
Josh Allen's preseason starting debut Sunday was a disaster, although his offensive line should bear a large portion of the blame. Playing almost a full half with Buffalo's starters, Allen completed 6 of 12 passes for 34 yards and scored no points while being sacked five times. He was replaced by Nathan Peterman, who continued his sharp preseason by carving up the Bengals' second-team defense and presenting himself as the safer option for Sean McDermott to start in Week 1. -- Mike Rodak

their offense was putrid today ... just awful
Darnold is the rookie I'd still pick, but Mayfield is better than Allen
Patrick Peterson just had a pretty easy pick 6
Not sure what the Bills are going to do but Peterman has been the best QB in preseason all 3 games. With that Offensive line and Josh Allen being a rookie, they would be smart to let Peterman play the first 4.
Patrick Peterson is such a joy to watch and he is such a good interview.
Lamar Jackson looked a little better with his accuracy. Couple of nice throws, mostly checking down and running though. Some signs of hope if you’re a Ravens fan. Caveat, the Phins D was playing soft, still in preseason D.
A shame we couldn’t see Rosen, he is definitely not winning the job even if it was possible.
That Mike White kid in Dallas looked very good for a 5th rounder. I mean he was like 11/11 at one point. Ended up 17/22 for 157 yards, really nice touch, got the ball out quickly, that kid has a future as a backup in this league.
TJ Logan looks like JK Dobbins but in the pro’s. Those cuts are so fluid and clean and he has game breaking speed……I have my eye on this kid he looked outstanding!
I really thought Mike White was going to be drafted by the Pats.
In talks with my son prior to the draft early on when there was questions if we would draft a QB one...I told him if we didn't draft overall#1 look for Mike White in the 3rd round. So he started looking at tape. Now a Cowboy and he's a big time Cowboy fan he swears that he looks better than DAK, he doesn't like Dak's accuracy. But here is a kicker, it won't surprise me to see them cut White in hopes to pick him up on their practice Squad and just carry 2, Dak and that other guy who didn't look good at all.
Darnold looks good, it was Darnold or Mayfield for me, either would have made me happy although I was a Mayfield guy from day one.
The LOSER, Giants as they could have had a franchise QB to replace ELI...now they have an ELI who has been hit a lot throughout his career and those hits add up, he will decline fast.
jmho
Patrick Peterson looks great in Zone coverage with his eyes to the QB. I hope we utilize Ward that way in the future, speed kills.
Didn't watch too many other games.

Sacked 5 times, avoided some other. Honestly the guy didn't stand a chance, why the criticism?
"The Browns have reason to feel good about their quarterback situation exiting Thursday's preseason game against the Eagles. Tyrod Taylor was able to return after sustaining a left hand injury in the first quarter and showed no ill effects. Rookie QB Baker Mayfield, meanwhile, made a number of quality NFL throws, including a dart through traffic to C.J. Board for 19 yards. His interception aside, Mayfield had an encouraging night overall."
Yup the guys @ESPN must have seen some diferent games, how can you feel good after such a game, our QB's did nothing. BM 49,3 QB rating. Josh Allen had a better passer rating.
Icing on the cake is the assessment on Darnold:
"If the starting job is his to lose, Sam Darnold didn't lose it. It wasn't a lights-out performance, but he did a decent job in two-plus quarters. He started off hot with a long TD drive, but five of his next six series went three-and-out. The good: He battled poor field position and unfavorable down and distances but never lost his poise. Flip side: This was his first extended action against a starting D, and he wasn't as sharp as usual. Chances are he will end up with the job because he has had by far the most work with the starters, but he still has plenty of growing to do."

Tyrod survived behind that line. Why can’t allen?

Their line got worse.
Yep, it's not the same OL.
The Bills are in a bad spot. They need to sit Allen.
Terrible O-line….trading Glenn and Richie is gone.
Horrendous offensive weapons again. Benjamin is a red zone guy, Charles Clay is a mediocre TE.
The Bills offense reminds me so much of the Browns offense for many years. Thrusting a QB into a bad spot…..oh and Brian Daboll you have to be kidding me.
Josh Allen has a lot of talent but with that line and those weapons…..yeah he is standing in the pocket tall and keeping his eyes downfield NOW. Week 6 after taking 15 sacks it will get ugly, they will bench him and it will be a disaster….waffling back from Peterman to Allen.
We have seen this before….many times. They need to sit him.
I agree that the Bills should sit Allen. However, I think it is just as obvious that the Browns need to sit Baker. That won't stop a full-blown qb controversy to develop sooner rather than later.
There is no controversy in Cleveland, there are only people that WANT there to be a controversy where there isn't one.
Not yet. I think there will be, though.

Baker is slow on his progressions. He is ahead of Allen in that aspect but he is too slow (so is Tyrod TBH). The same thing applies to Baker.....his Oline is a little better and his Weapons are a little better but he will start taking hits because he is slow on his progressions and he will start looking to bail. Creating bad habits where there aren't any is a good way to start the downward QB spiral.
They both need to sit. Baker has such a luxury of having Taylor, who sans injury could in theory start the entire season. Not a chance Peterman start the whole season even if they wisely choose to start him at the beginning.
If Allen makes it out of his 2nd year upright, healthy and getting better he could be a star. We'll see that offense around him is not good on paper.
Has anyone caught the Seattle punter yet? He is ridiculous.

Josh Allen = Kizer.
Mayfield is a much better QB than Allen. Its Mayfield and Darnold on top of the heap. Could very well be Lamar Jackson next...
Omg tab. You actually said something nice about Lamar!
my friend who is a die-hard Bills fan ... is so sick about their team right now. They're in a tough spot. Do you play Allen, which could hurt him (both his career AND physically)?

What's YOUR definition of a QB controversy?
Seems you think that when media and fans start calling for Mayfield, that's a controversy? Am I reading you correctly on that?
If so, I totally disagree with that.
Even if Taylor does what I PRAY he doesn't. Leaving massive chunks of yards on the field because of his conservative approach. Media and fans calling for Mayfield IS NOT a QB controversy.
Now if Jackson and Haley pull Taylor, let Mayfield play, then go back to Taylor? NOW YOU'VE GOT A FULL BLOWN CONTROVERSY.
Josh Allen = Kizer.
Mayfield is a much better QB than Allen. Its Mayfield and Darnold on top of the heap. Could very well be Lamar Jackson next... The thing is that Josh Allen like Kizer are easier to assess, they were taken because of the arm, and that is something you can tick on the + box for them, you can also see that the ceiling for both players is so much higher than for Mayfield.
Mayfield may a better QB than both Kizer and Allen, but that means nothing if the 3 are trash... Meanwhile I'm still waiting to see what made BM the number one pick this year, we saw Allen show why he was #7, we saw Darnold, Rosen...
IMHO, Mayfield has to consistently hit the higher 60%/ 70% completion percentage, moving the chains, quick accurate throws. I don't like him moving around buying time, don't think that what made Dorsey draft him...
I honestly expect something of the level of a Garapollo, and not the rookie,if he can't than making him the #1 pick was stupid, IMHO.
my friend who is a die-hard Bills fan ... is so sick about their team right now. They're in a tough spot. Do you play Allen, which could hurt him (both his career AND physically)?
Not until about week 6 (or after their bye, whenever that is)..
At that point what could it hurt, they are going to lose anyway......
If he didn't hold the ball so long he wouldn't get hit so much, he's not helping his OL at all.....
Gotta see what the kids got so you know if you are still looking for a QB next year.....
Learn to play on the field and getting practice reps, not as a backup.....
List of QBs who started in bad situations and became successful, surely he will be one of those and not the 60 that didn't.....
Nope.. never seen this play out before..
I don't know, but he looked better than Baker when we played the Bills. Baker also holds the ball even longer.
I really don't get all these evaluations at this time of the year.
yeah, we'll see it again this year too ... at what point do we play Baker? when we're 0-4? 0-6?
What if we're 2-5?
it'll be interesting how the QB play pans out after a few weeks of losing in September
