Pretty good match-up on Thursday. Defending champs against the team that was destroying them early on in last year's playoff game. Two the top QBs in the league.
Other games I'm interested in:
Saints and Tampa Bay: Division rivals w/tons of talent.
Miami vs New England: Curious to see how Cam looks against a team that should be improved.
SF vs Arizona: SF is excellent and Arizona is my sleeper team this year. Trouble is that they are in the toughest division in football. I look for Kyler Murray to have a big year. Tough test against SF's DL.
Those of you who are gamblers: take advantage of the 45 free bucks on Draftkings
I'm going to be recording nearly every game. Lots of good match ups.
j/c...
Not a lot of value in this one...
I placed that ticket.
That casino isn't too far from my house.
You should've gone $200k and parlayed that with UAB +15.5!
I saved the $200k for my Browns bet.
Taking the Ravens then?
Put 50 on the chiefs tonight ... and got 100 points LOL
No interest in listening to "the black national anthem". I dont support this, and I turned it off. And I'm not the only one.
I have gotten into the habit of not turning it on until Kickoff, unless it’s a Browns game
j/c... Big Red wearing the plastic face shield and fogging it hup w/ every breath. He needs a windshield wiper on it!
Here comes the Baker didnt take this offseason serious again, First commercial break, new Baker commercial.
Looks like it took a couple plays, and the players are in the swing of things.
j/c...
David Johnson has been impressive so far. Was not expecting much out of him.
I’m rather tired of his commercials haha ... anyways, kind of a ho hum 1st half. Seems like KC is just gonna ease into the W
Watching Duke Johnson reminds me of how overated he was here. I remember Eotab called him a HOF talent and the best slot WR in the NFL
Looks like the only team beating KC MIGHT be Baltimore.
KC just made this one look easy, and Mahommes barely had to break a sweat.
The very experienced head coach of the Chiefs' had their new runningback dancing between set up blocks in the meat of the game, and late, the Texans were put in position to try too much and throw an interception.
Most should think, if the Chiefs Qb and HC stick together they are going to be in the mix at the end of the season.
That's not the (jets) they just beat.
edit:
To expand.
The Texans are iirc. two time back to back division winners of including the Titans, Colts and the Jaguars,?
The Jaguars who had a lead in the div playoffs round 3 years ago.
And the Chiefs just laid em out like Tyson vs Sphinx.
Impressive. Maybe they'll just Repeat.

Patrick Mahommes day'
quick, 24/32 200?? yards and 3tds.
This is how TL looks at one of those, and pick out the good from the bad in 10 seconds or less, because there is only one thing in there, it's the most impressive, and can stretch out to 100 different NFL days.
24/32 = only 8 times he did not complete the pass, and that number 8, is the only thing anyone has to look at it is the most impressive.
Speaks to the Offense, the team, and the player, Getting a whole NFL game in, and to only have single digit incomplete or ints, is impressive.
Over a hundred games, I think it's more impressive than 3 tds, or even 4 or 5 tds would be, because some games end with a 45-42 score.
Looking at a college qb, any QB, I think that speaks very quickly to how well they did, if someone goes 28/42 for 500 yards that's still 14 incomplete on the day.
I think it's tough to explain because it's not a big difference, but consider golf,
8 incomplete on the day is like winning by 10 with all eagles, instead of winning by 10 with all pars.
It's the most important number to look at, you can quote me on that.

Colllinsworths' praise was on good plays though.
Football is so funny. Mahomes was a hail Mary 3rd and 15 play in the super bowl from being called the next Dan Marino.
The Chiefs made it look VERY easy last night. They certainly could and will lose, but the Texans basically had no shot

This makes me even more nervous for week 1 against the Ravens. No fans in the stands, covid, no preseason, eh, didn't matter. It was business as usual and the expected happened.

yeah, it was a strange atmosphere and almost felt like a preseason type game. Like “yeah, we know the outcome”
The Chiefs are good, but I'm not sure how much of last night was the Texans being bad. Outside of JJ Watt, KC owned the trenches. Hopefully our OTs will look better than Tytus Howard did. The Texans LG got whooped repeatedly by Chris Jones, too.
I'm also not sure how strongly to feel about CEH. He was definitely good, but there was some bad tackling on display.
...does anyone else see the irony of the Dolphins announcing their plan to stay in the locker room during the anthems alongside a video that complains about empty gestures?
So is anybody buying the cowboys hype, or are they going 8-8 again?
Does anyone else find it odd that political comments that seek to trash peaceful protest are allowed in a thread that’s meant for game analysis?
I don't know how you are going to stop Mahommes with all of those weapons. You need to hope Kelce or Hill get injured to have a chance. Hill just forces the safeties to cheat which makes it so easy for everyone else, with Mahommes arm and athleticism.....man I don't know what you can do about that.
Does anyone else find it odd that political comments that seek to trash peaceful protest are allowed in a thread that’s meant for game analysis?
It's because the message of unity and equal justice for all American seems so disgusting to some people.
I believe what I see missing in most of the comments is how the Chiefs, at least in this game, brought the running game front and center. Sure they could run the ball before, but their OL run blocking and rookie RB were on a different level last night.
When a team that's already that good can bring in a new dimension that seemed that dominant, it makes me wonder, just how good can they be?
Does anyone else find it odd that political comments that seek to trash peaceful protest are allowed in a thread that’s meant for game analysis?
It was a comment, not trashing. It was about what they were doing at an "other game." The "Other games" thread seemed to be the place to put a quick comment about what they were planning to do at an "other game."
I'll leave it at that.
man oh man GOAT Brady vs Brees!!!! Bucs vs Saints!!!
Broken leg in bengal game
Eww you could hear on replay
Haha burrow looks like poo
Haha burrow looks like poo
so we have a chance to hold him under 40 next week
Brady right down the field for td, I love Arians as a playcaller
Broken leg in bengal game

Sean Payton looks like he gained about thirty pounds.

IIRC he had Covid ... haha maybe if you get it you actually double the weight

The quarantine 15!
He also had COVID, they should cancel each other out.
congratulations pit. That post has an excellent chance to qualify for the most ignorant post of the year competition. Good luck!!
So I can't take it anymore.
I'm adopting two teams this year, Bucs and Bills.
If we don’t blitz the bejeezus out of burrow then this staff can show themselves out. He doesn’t handle it at all
Saints D line is no joke.
If we don’t blitz the bejeezus out of burrow then this staff can show themselves out. He doesn’t handle it at all
the question is .. will we even get home if we blitz? Seems like we rarely do
Need to put Myles back on other side, that’s his natural side
Saints defense making the GOAT look like Jordan with the wizards.
Tom Terrific is done. He looks awful.
With Evans and Godwin, their strength is down the field ... and TB is more of a dink/dunk/swing/crossing QB now
Cincy about to be trailing for the first time
Outside of mayfield, taylor might be the most uninspiring starting qb
That’s such a Cleveland way to lose too
Burrow put them in position to at least tie, he looked pretty good IMO...

His decision making was great.
His arm looks suspect to me.

Boy oh boy Cincy getting 6.5
That will be 4.5 by Thursday.
That will be 4.5 by Thursday.
well be 0-2 friday.
So I recorded a bunch of games today to watch the QB play.
Mayfield and Darnold are the worst QBs in the league. 31 and 32, whatever order you want. And Darnold literally has no weapons at all.
You know what we should have looked like today? Like the Cardinals against the 9ers. Murray looked great and improved and led his team to a win against last year's runner up. We lose to Baltimore and everyone says "but they were a great team last year". The Cardinals said screw that.
Last year, the year we were supposed to take the leap, we laid an egg against a middle tier team week 1.
Only in Cleveland.

I believe this will be true.
That Carrie Underwood is attractive, I must say.

Agreed, you play the team in front of you. There are no morale victories for playing a good team. If you think that way, you will always be a loser.
"well, they are a really good team". So? Be better.
I think we paid OBJ about just a shy under a million dollars a yard today.....
That Carrie Underwood is attractive, I must say.
one of the few good things I’ve seen all day
His decision making was great.
His arm looks suspect to me.
That shovel pass to Ingram begs to differ on the decision making.
He was pretty decisive. We'll see how long his confidence lasts.
Sean Payton looks like he gained about thirty pounds.
haha I thought that too
The quarantine 15!
IIRC he had Covid ... haha maybe if you get it you actually double the weight
My guess is he was on corticoidsteriods for awhile.. they help open up your airways but make you swell up like crazy... takes awhile to get rid of the excess weight afterwards...
Watching the Rams offense is what I thought we’d see from us.
j/c:
-Great job by Washington. New coach w/cancer, a qb who no one on the previous staff wanted, controversy surrounding the team, and they fight their butts off and get a divisional victory.
--The SF/AZ game was a great game. Back and forth. Murray is a gamer.
--Darnold stinks as bad as Baker.
--I liked what I saw from Burrow. He's a fighter. He put them in position to win when it mattered.
--Saints looked very good.
--Contrary to some reports, A-Arod is not declining. He shredded Minni.
--How does that dude drop a winning TD pass for Detroit?
--ATL always gets love and usually disappoints.
--R. Wilson is a great qb.
--Josh Allen is improving.
--The Carolina/Raider game was entertaining. Carolina looked much better on O than I thought they would.
--Josh McDaniels is a smart OC.
--This piped-in crowd noise is the loudest cheering for a home team for either LA team since I can remember.
Watching the Rams offense is what I thought we’d see from us.
i know. I’m dumbfounded at our formations and what we looked like
j/c:
Man, that was a weak offensive PI call on Gallup!
What I don't like about it, is that it was a game-changing play. Gotta swallow the whistle in those situations.
Just seeing the end of the Cowboys game ... that was a really weak call. Let them play. Ramsey is handfighting all game
In that pic Brady still looks so young... like he could play another 10 years.
What I don't like about it, is that it was a game-changing play. Gotta swallow the whistle in those situations.
Same as in the Bengals game.
j/c:
Man, that was a weak offensive PI call on Gallup!
Ramsey sold it pretty well. The penalty was pretty weak.
I think calling penalties on offensive players (instead of seemingly just shy of always on defense) might have been a point of emphasis this week (season?) for the officials.
AJ Green had a borderline OPI called, and there was an offsetting lowering of the helmets to initiate contact in another one of the games.
Ramsey sold it pretty well. The penalty was pretty weak.
Tony Corrente is one of my least favorite officials too
I was watching the Bengals game and saw the AJ Green PI and I thought it was legit but the Gallup one seems ticky tacky.
j/c:
Man, Ron Rivera had to get an IV during halftime of yesterday's game. Most of you probably know he was recently diagnosed w/cancer.
I wonder if his courage and grit helped inspire the team's comeback victory?
I believe it was a planned IV out of extra precaution, but either way.
Dwayne Haskins delivered the halftime speech and motivated the team.
I think the Washington defense bailed them out as the offense's longest scoring drive was 48 yds. Their TD drives were 45 yds, 20 yds, and 48 yds.
The WFT got after Wentz. Chase Young had a monster first game.
I think Lane Johnson being out and then Driscoll (?), his backup at RT, also getting injured during the game may have contributed to the Eagles giving up 8 sacks.
Watching the other 13 games yesterday, I think we have the worst ... maybe 2nd worst ... QB in the NFL
Be careful, Gardner Minshew may be listening.
Tyrod Taylor started for the Chargers...
Let’s go through them:
Cam Newton
Josh Allen
Sam Darnold
Ryan Fitzpatrick
Joe Burrow
Lamar Jackson
Ben Roethlisberger
Patrick Mahomes
Drew Lock
Tyrod Taylor
Derek Carr
Ryan Tannehill
Deshaun Watson
Philip Rivers
Gardner Minshew
Matt Ryan
Tom Brady
Drew Brees
Teddy Bridgewater
Aaron Rodgers
Mitch Trubisky
Kirk Cousins
Matt Stafford
Dwayne Haskins
Dak Prescott
Daniel Jones
Carson Wentz
Russell Wilson
Jimmy Garoppolo
Kyler Murray
Jared Goff
I’d say maybe we’d rather have Baker than Darnold, Tyrod, and Trubisky
I'd add Drew Lock and Minshew (though he played well yesterday).
But yes, I'd take Baker over five other starting QBs.
After his rookie year, I don't think I would have taken anyone over Baker other than Mahomes.
Man, things change fast.
I might add Derek Carr as well.
That list is alarming. There are probably a couple more that I‘d take Baker over but he should be much better going into his third season as the #1 overall pick. The fact that we are even having this conversation is brutal.
I’d probably take Baker over Darnold, Minshew, Taylor, and Trubisky. But i agree ... the fact that we’re in this state SUCKS

Agree ... not that I am suggesting Baker would be a rockstar elsewhere - but what is the forecast for how Lamar would look if he'd been taken by the Browns that year?

I don’t care how someone else would look. Baker’s situation is what it is, he needs to be better despite his circumstances.
The thing about Baker THIS year (and yes it’s still early) is he has everything tailored for him ... personnel, playmakers, philosophy (at least that’s the hope)

People need to slow their roll a bit; "THIS year" is barely even This Year, yet. Dude is on his 4th HC and 4th system (effectively) and coming off the Year of Freddie he rolls right into the Year of the Rona.
He absolutely needs to improve, but people need to stop sharpening the pitchforks until around mid-season. Our Training Camp this year was effectively what our spring mini camps should have been. Yesterday's game looked a *LOT* like a first Pre-Season game for our part. Unfortunately, three more "preseason" performances will have us at 0-4 or 1-3, BUT by the time we get to Week 8 we should see these guys all settling in to whatever the heck it is this coaching staff is trying to do.
Agree ... not that I am suggesting Baker would be a rockstar elsewhere - but what is the forecast for how Lamar would look if he'd been taken by the Browns that year?
Much like the weather that forecast would change depending on which channel you choose to watch. Would our record have been better with LJ as our QB? If so, would his second season have been better? Would that create a situation where we would have had more stability in coaching and the FO?
See, IMO, there's far too many variables there to know one way or the other how drafting LJ may have changed the landscape.
Add Jimmy G to the list of QBs that might be available next off-season. Imagine someone great running that offense.
Anyone else watching Steelers-Giants on ESPN tonight?
Interesting to see how Chris Fowler and Kirk Herbstreit do in their first ever pro broadcast.
If everyone on the field and sidelines has tested clear, why do the coaches and refs wear masks?
Anyone else watching Steelers-Giants on ESPN tonight?
Yes. Really like hearing Fowler and Herbstreit doing an NFL game.
Yes. Why did the Giants put their wide receiver like TE on Watt? Offensive coordinators aren’t always smart.
Yes. Why did the Giants put their wide receiver like TE on Watt? Offensive coordinators aren’t always smart.
Well....That is Jason Garrett you're talking about lol
I like Fowler and Herbie, too. Hope to hear them doing Ohio State games soon.
Looking like a long night for Saquon.
Maybe he's just rusty, but Roethlisberger doesn't look too good so far. He probably just needs to face the Browns to get his groove back,
We didn’t see Baker settle in the pocket once against the Ravens like Daniel Jones just did against Pittsburgh.
The Steelers pass defense is almost as bad as ours. Unfortunately they look great against the run. That doesn’t bode well for us.
I'm feeling like the Giants might actually have a shot tonight. Thought they would get blown out going in.
Snell looks better than Conner to me
The Steelers pass defense is almost as bad as ours. Unfortunately they look great against the run. That doesn’t bode well for us.

As soon as I typed that he gets the pick. I jinxed New York
Man what I wouldn't give for 50% of the Steeler's play calling/QB play.
Patented Steelers pick play never gets called.
We didn’t see Baker settle in the pocket once against the Ravens like Daniel Jones just did against Pittsburgh.
This is not true.
Baker was very good in the pocket yesterday.
The issue is when the ball left his hands.
Snell looks better than Conner to me
Connor is super slow.
How come no players on the Steelers D are ever hurt?
That Steeler Run D looks devestating right now.
That Steeler Run D looks devestating right now.
Scary good
19 play drive, and Daniel jones throws another pick.
He should have just taken the sack. Even if Bud Dupree doesn't hit his hand he was tossing up a prayer into heavy traffic.
We’re probably gonna lose to Pittsburgh this season....twice.
He should have just taken the sack. Even if Bud Dupree doesn't hit his hand he was tossing up a prayer into heavy traffic.
I think he was trying to throw it out of the end zone. At least that’s what I’d say.
Yep. Their pass rush will destroy Baker. And anyone notice how fast Ben is reading coverages and delivering the ball? That back-shoulder throw about 5 minutes ago was pretty amazing.
Our blitzing yesterday is just embarrasing compared to the Steelers.
Im definitely taking CMC over Barkley.
With Barkley’s running style you need to block the backside DE.
I still like either of our backs over Barkley. I get the feeling Steelers FO could troll rec league flag football games and find all pros for the defense
Sure wish we would have gotten Martinez from the Packers over Goodson.
Peppers still can’t take proper angles
j/c:
I still can't believe we drafted Peppers in the first round. He is terrible.
Steelers defense will destroy us. That’s not gonna be pretty.
They have attitude, speed, and tenacity. We are literally polar opposite franchises
As healthy As steeler defense stays, not the case on oline. Of course they find an obscure practice squad player who plays lights out
Impressed how Jones stands in the pocket and makes quick reads
We didn’t see Baker settle in the pocket once against the Ravens like Daniel Jones just did against Pittsburgh.
This is not true.
Baker was very good in the pocket yesterday.
The issue is when the ball left his hands.
I was overzealous in my comment. Daniel Jones did not play well, he’s better than I expected though.
I remember when we picked Shelton and Erving instead of Dupree. I remember pimping him pretty hard. Probably didn't have the stability for him to work out here, but doubt he could have done worse than Erving.
Will Gostkowski be available after today lol
"Apparently Gostkowski was a system kicker"
That was funny.
j/c
Gostkowski lives in Nashville and was just sitting on his couch a couple of weeks ago when he got the call. The Titans should have left him on the couch.
