Since Travis Frederick, their Center, was lost for a career ended somehow, about 1-2 years ago.
Prior to Frederick Offensive Center, leaving, the Cowboys used to be able to throw and run and look like world beaters, and afterwards? Many Struggles.
Looking forward to tonight's game. First regular season game of the year!
Go Bucs! I'm not a big Tom Brady fan but I hate the Cowboys!
The problem is, if these teams were in the AFC playoff race instead of the top heavy NFC, the loser of this game would be losing so much more.
In the NFC, it's so void of contenders, there are almost 2 throw away losses, and still remaining in a good chance to make the playoffs, more than any AFC team in the AFC's race.
So this is new this year, 2021 first time we have seen these penalties.
Brush someones face in pass coverage, not only is it up to a 99 yard penalty for the spot foul, but also an additional 15 yards and an automatic first down for touching the facemask.
I'm sure if it's a team like the cowobys or steelers they'll find a way to say a defender looked cross eyed at a quarterback and tack on an Additional 15 yards, and by next year, by next year they'll be giving them a double first down I bet. So an Automatic first down, plus a subsequent automatic first down to give the offense a total do-over play on the first next play.
What makes it even worse was that the extra yardage was for the same act that got the PI call. They were double-penalized for the same foul (which was just brushing the guy across the facemask... didn't even hold it).
This was a very good game down the stretch. Tuned in at the end of the first quarter. The second quarter was a flag fest IMO. All the way through the game I kept thinking the Browns could beat both these teams now. I like feeling that way!
Dak and Tom lit up the airways, each passing for nearly 400 yards...but only 60 and 52 rushing yards respectively. Our offense will SO different in the rushing category, that I think defenses preparing for Chubb/Hunt will be frantic.
Man I thought the cowboys was gonna get stomped. Their defense is still a bit suspect, but Dak Prescott looked great last night. That was an amazing game to start the season!
I agree. We all know it, but the NFL is always so adamant about putting the top market teams on primetime, even if they provide little entertainment value … the Bears, Giants, and Rams will usually be on way more than I’d like haha
After all of Dak's injuries and not playing in a game for eleven months, I wasn't expecting that kind of performance from him right out of the gate. Man was he sharp!
Tampa Bays run stopping ability is second to none. Even with Zeke, attacking them through the air was the right approach. Any smart coach with a good QB with good targets would do the same thing.
Cowboys gave it everything they had and almost pulled it off.
I was hoping the Cowboys would pull an upset, but the better team ended up winning. Real fun game to watch though.
Looking back, ? That wasn't football. What the heck was that?
No Punts, No first down measurements?
I count, the Cowboys, offense was manufactured by the referees' 3 separate times, on 2 drives that ended in about 10 points.
The Buccaneers offense was manufactured by the referees' once, on one drive that ended in 7 or 3 points.
32 NFL teams, 16 games a week. What if no team punts all year long? And no team ever gets a chain measurement, In 282 games? Is that football? Freaking participation trophy handed out to Dak Prescott and every team that can't catch. Quarterbacks can play until they are 70 And Running backs aren't even allowed to be tackled to the ground! Is this football? Think about it.
You forgot about bye weeks. Many weeks do not have "16 games per week". Also there are 32 teams that will now be playing 17 games per season. That's a total of 544 games. Try to keep up.
and, I generally hate Week 1 in the NFL because the over-officiating is soooooo bad. So many games are determined by over-zealous officiating simply because they feel they need to make a point. It's freaking ridiculous.
I get that they have their pet-project points of emphasis, but here's a novel approach.... just enforce all of the rules all of the time. Then, there's no need for extra emphasis and more ticky-tack calls on existing rules. You don't need to suddenly over-enforce a rule if you have just always been consistent with how it should be.
BUT, now we're getting into theories on maintaining betting lines and such as to Why they do this, because we know they don't give a damn about the players.
You can bet the following will happen: 1. Jarvis will get a taunting penalty. 2. Myles will be held 5x as often as he gets a flag. 3. Our DL will be handed a horrible roughing call to honor Mahomes. 4. Baker will get no such generous treatment. 5. Tyreke and Kelce get 1-2 DPIs called each.
Gronk said after the game that he was on a route and then Brady checked him into blocking, then checked him into blocking and releasing. “I was like oh man, he just sees it all on the field, it’s impressive. He’s been playing for like 80 years...”
Houston up 14-0 on Jags. Just changed over to get it over radio. Have Bengals Vikings 0-0 and bills v steelers on 3-0 bills on alternating stations. Just making pick ems for a weeks games really makes one care about nonsense games. I tell you what, the jaguars may be real train wreck mode. 1st year coaches, paired up with rookie qbs, and rookie coordinators? We know the story.
Texans take the penalty 3rdn and 19, following, illegal defender hit the quarterback, automatic first down. if they'd refused the penalty, Jacksonville would have made a field goal at worst.
Jacksonville got 7 points, in the next couple of plays. ... Hmm. Decline those holding penalties! Force that 4th down!
52 yards, Jaguars, give up , about to give up 10 points in the last minute of the half, Tyrod taylor completes a pass to the 10 yard line. 12 seconds in the half 3 timeouts. They got the the Td. Yeah, it's a learning day for the jagurs staff.
Tyrod Taylor under pressure, he... a one handed catch Pharoah Brown, next play a wildcat formation touchdown. 34-7 Houston over Jaguars, My survivor pick for the week looks safe. Tyrod Taylor: player of the week, he had 229 before that.
Tyrod Taylor to Pharoah Brown, the freaking 2015 Browns. On the right sided of a blowout!
Kyler Murray 4 tds. whatever, hes playing the titans dbs.
The Fighting Tyrod Taylors... Hit late out of bounds on a 20+ yard scramble by Mighty Tyrod Taylor in Houston, The Texans get a Field goal to add to their lead 37-13,? or 37-14. Tyrod Taylor, player of the week. Give him a Rude Awakening Next week.
My week 1 pick ems were posted in the Fantasy Forum, I think I've gotten many right so far except for, Tennessee lost, and pending Washington. Every other pick correct. that I've seen. Steelers, looks like Panthers, Vikings? every one. oh, hope I'm wrong on the Browns pick though.
THERE HE IS!!! Man of my nightmares! like Freddie kruger.
Al Micheals, close up, on a pregame intro. again.
I took my happy thoughts and was nice, on Thursday! I didn't complain that my nightmarish tv screen of another Al Micheals' close up. After all these years. But a double dose! Thursday, and then SUNDAY, 3 days later.
AL MICHEALS, STARING AT ME. I can't prepare or it, I never remember, I look up, and THERE HE IS! and I freak. I try to deal with it. People aren't going to understand me.
yep, he's an announcer, and still announcing, and imo, ruining every big game of football, on a week by week matchup I'd like to watch, year after year, since at least 1990. Everytime I see his close up, I freak. People aren't going to understand. Just be nice, just be nice, just deal with it. (they'd tell me) ... I was planning on posting, that even though my pickems showed me picking the Rams, my heart is kind of with Chicago tonight. But, I looked up. and There he is. and it's like a nightmare.
I don't particularly like Stafford as much as the average fan, and I think, what's his name, rookie Qb for the bears, may be on a tear for the next couple months.
Herman Edwards keeps droning. "Oh the players that didn't play in pre season" " oh the players that didn't play in preseason"
Screw that, media corporate greed sell out. Who Wants the players to play in pre season? (the television executives) The same dummy's who want you to pay for and watch for advertising dollars, worthless preseason games.
So. I figure, Herman Edwards is probably parroting some stupid billion dollar NBC executives' notion that people need to be forced to watch pre season, so they can make another dime and somebody who already has a zillion dollars, can have 1 percent more.
Disgusting ... is, if some Television Executive! Would be feeding naratives to talking heads, to promote ideas, that promote the greed culture of taking endlessly more in the name of just getting more more more.
Not impressed by either team. The difference between those teams and the Browns is: they can not run the ball.
The Bills are going to get Allen damaged. Way to many designed runs for Allen. I know he is a big guy. It does not matter. They keep running him like that. He will get hurt.
The Steelers won the game. They looked bad. They could not establish a run game. Ben missed many easy throws. Offensively they are not impressive. Defensively they are very good.
Allen did not play that well. First game of the season. They better find a way to run without Allen running the ball.
I watched Vikings Bengals cause having Cook and Chase on fantasy team. Burrow looked cool and calm yesterday Chase balled out. The Vikings oline is garbage. Minny was favored too. I dont think thinking the Bengals is a automatic win at this, point.
Packers bench Aaron Rodgers for Jordan Love as Jameis Winston torches Green Bay in Week 1
Aaron Rodgers insists he never intended to cause any distractions to the Packers' 2021 season by staying away from the team and playing coy about his future in Green Bay for most of this offseason. But if anyone looked distracted, or at least unprepared, in Sunday's Week 1 games, it was Rodgers and the Packers -- so much so that coach Matt LaFleur sent Rodgers to the bench with just under 11 minutes left in the club's road opener against the Saints, replacing the reigning MVP with second-year backup Jordan Love after Jameis Winston torched the Packers' defense for five touchdown passes en route to a 38-3 blowout win.
Hey 3rd and 20 was the down and distance in some game I watched this week, it doesn't happen every day. --
Folks: Once again in the NFL this week a team with less passing yards, from their leading passer, than their opponent, Won the Game.
Once again in the NFL a team with fewer passing yards won. Actually SEVEN, of fifteen, 7 Teams out of 15 games this week the leading passer was on the team that lost and fewer passing yards by the winner.
Tampa Bay, Miami, the Broncos, 49ers, Steelers, Cincinnati, and the Houston Texans all won this week, despite having fewer yards from their leading passer.
Don't give up on the run plays. (oh, and the Ravens are probably going to win the same way tonight, because... I'm a Browns fan and nothing breaks our way. Ask Ronnie Harrison.

So, half. Great binary predictor variable you found there THROW.

Raiders new stadium is a dome with natural turf. Fun fact is that the field slides outside on non-game days to get sunlight. Whoever owns that stadium must really like natural turf.
I was surprised MNF was on ABC, I got used to not seeing it as I don't watch espn.
I thought I tuned in to watch a football game. The Ravens lost another starting Rb to injuries, I thought I tuned in to watch a football game.
One of the Ravens' dolt off the street Rb's just ran for a 12 yard gain, but I don't know who, because I thought! I tuned in to watch a football game, yet, somehow, I think I'm in the middle of a lecture; a lecture on the benefits of alcoholics rehabiltitiaon, I mean, I don't want to interrupt, I did just see that play by the camera, but boy these guys are giving a big lecture on the benefits of alcoholics rehabbing? They even said they didn't want to ask a football question, to the players, I mean, on MnF
Did? you tune in to see alcoholics, because I didn't see it on the TV guide, pretty sure no mention of a Lecture on the benefits of Alcoholics Rehabilitation but I guess, millions of people don't matter, just do what they're told, listen, to this lecture,. Now, personally, I don't drink, don't usually give out personal info like that, but I don't and I don't hang out with alcoholics, but: Some TV exec, or government overseer thinks I need the lecture! well, Thank goodness they are their to dictate to me, what is best.
If John Gruden can't accept he has to settle for 3 after a 1 yard pass gets only 1 on 3rd and 2, then he deserves to miss on the 4th down run and get no points.
Lamar is not a good QB. His stat line tonight was awful. He’s slow to process from the pocket. He has below average accuracy from the pocket. One to two reads, then bail. His passing numbers are always inflated by broken play throws. 19/30 235yards 1 TD, 1 fumble lost… if any other QB in the league, especially Baker, throws up those numbers the talking heads would run smack all day… but the Lamar love affair goes on. I loved seeing him not be able to make a read from the pocket then cough up the ball to lead to the loss.
Lamar was AWFUL at QB. It’s like he is getting worse as a passer and better as a runner. Hoping he slows down a bit and then his effectiveness will plummet

I'll add: How many times did the announcers swoon over his "development as a QB"? His reading the defense? His going through progressions?

Oh, and the Ravens lose
They definitely are trying to keep him in more as a pocket passer who goes through his progressions. He had a couple big runs, but I didn't really feel like it was a first option by and large, like it was when he was a rookie or in year 2.
They tried to do that with him last year as well, but then they went away from it when the losses started mounting and they desperately had to win to make the playoffs. Imagine they may start getting back into that panic mode if they go 0-2 after playing KC.

I agree. Seeing him so deep/back in the pocket was very unnatural to my untrained eyes.
The Raiders adjusted to that quite well and it resulted in him trying to step up and through the pocket...and the defenders were usually there waiting for him. Getting him to the ground is a whole other issue...but if you can get a hand on him you have a fighting chance. Can't get a hand on him when he can just scramble outside of you and run away...keep him in the pocket until you can squeeze the pocket. Sounds familiar.
Orange Crush laid out that strategy nicely...it's always been the strategy with Jackson...and other guys (one of who we just played) who make a living after the pocket breaks down. I hope Woods watches that Raider game tape. (Not holding breath here.)
Listening to Cowherd jump through flaming hoops to find ways to praise Lamar right now. What a tool. What he likes so much about Lamar is “He cares so much.”
I am hoping nothing good happens for Harbaugh and his Ratters. Cowherd and some other man-crush "fans" adoring Lamarred are just gagging me. He got roughed up last night.
Don't care who beats other folks in our division. The enemy of my enemy remains my friend/
