At least we won't have to hear about it from Collinsworth.

Let's send Big Ben out with a L

Better score a lot of points , because the refs will be in full force tonight.
Posted By: cfrs15 Re: Gameday at Pittsburgh - 01/03/22 11:47 PM
This whole game is a letdown.
Posted By: cfrs15 Re: Gameday at Pittsburgh - 01/04/22 12:40 AM
Basically the only two things I care about in this game:

Avoid major injuries
Garrett dominating so he can lock up DPOY
Posted By: CapCity Dawg Re: Gameday at Pittsburgh - 01/04/22 12:42 AM
The hardest thing about watching our games this year is that every commercial break after a drive that ended due to a pick or missed throw starts off with one of those Progressive At Home with Baker ads. Like my tv is mocking me.

The whole pregame show on ESPN is a giant Ben love fest. It's nauseating.

I really don't understand any fan who says they don't care if we lose to Pit and keep their playoff hopes alive. I don't understand fans writing about the how futile the organization is and how we have a lack of winning culture - and insisting we should lose the last two games because of draft position. To me a winning culture means every single play of every single game is important.

C'mon Browns - stick it to these bums.

Good Call, just did the same

I’m not sure why this is a surprise and/ or something that shouldn’t happen. The Steelers have a small shot at making the playoffs and their hall of fame QB is playing their last game.

I would feel alot better if someone on the Browns, From the coach on down would get some backbone and let it be known that the Browns will put their foot in Ben one last time!! But Stefanski will be on the sidelines with his arms folded and that playsheet of crappy plays!

To think , The Browns had Ben #2 over Winslow, I read where Davis wasn't sold on Winslow, But the persons involved in making the pick felt Ben would only last 6 years because he was big and slow and would take a beating and he would fall apart with injuries.

And where is Kellen ?

Yeah I was shocked when we inked him to that fat contract, as he was always just a mere good TE whom would occasionally put a big play on busted coverage in Atlanta...He's had some really bad drops throughout this whole year.

That was the right call... I guess you could punt there, but the way the defense has been playing and where we were on the field I think going for it was the right call...

We were at their 40... too far for a FG but you don't gain much by punting... play was there... just got batted down...

going for it on 4th and 7 at midfield is beyond stupid.

It is why the Browns lose the way they do. A bunch of stupid little decisions that turn into big losses. Not that losses matter at this point.

They are running North and south
Posted By: Dawgs4Life Re: Gameday at Pittsburgh - 01/04/22 01:46 AM
That might be a 4th down
Posted By: DCDAWGFAN Re: Gameday at Pittsburgh - 01/04/22 01:47 AM
I've seen our whole offensive season in our first 2 possessions.

Run stuffed because the D knew it was coming and was flying downhill
A poor throw
A batted ball
A drop
A nice run by Chubb
A false start on 3rd and 2
A trick play run to Landry

A bunch of empty backfield sets and not a single play-action pass
Posted By: LexDawg Re: Gameday at Pittsburgh - 01/04/22 01:47 AM
4th down at 40 and they go for it...damn Stef
Posted By: Dawgs4Life Re: Gameday at Pittsburgh - 01/04/22 01:47 AM
That was the same exact play that they stopped in the playoffs

Baker’s height is a HUGE issue. I mean, 3 tipped passes in one quarter

It’s a MAJOR issue of late

That was Hudson's fault. He was supposed to block him wyatt if he drops into coverage to prevent him from doing what he just did

Yeah I think a lot of it is throwing motion/delivery and then not locking in so long...then again who knows.

Chubb averaging almost 9 yards per carry yet we pass the ball 2 to 1 with QB that cant hit the broad side of a barn and tadaaa! interception. Stephanski is a moron!

Defense is gassed. Time of possession is absurd.

Stefanski needs to bench Baker for the sake of the other guys playing.

No DC,
How about Stefanski is too stubborn to change. He has kept Baker out there when he is clearly hurt. When he is playing bad, he keeps him out there. Its Stefanske and Baker killing this team. That is why we are not in the playoffs

Again, this is because Stefanski THINKS he is the smartest person in the room. Here everyone knows the Steelers are weak against the run up the gut... what do we do.. sweep... How about running chubb right at the steelers or off tackle.. NOPE, lets Baker get balls swatted down or pass to everyone else... the problem starts with Stefanski

This whole staff needs replaced . Berry included. Who has he brought in thats contributed to winning? You pay lip service and say next man up mentality yet keep marching out a trash qb when you pay his backup 10/m a year. Stefanski is a horrible coach. Last year was a fluke. He needs to go. Kubiak was the reason for his success

Anybody that expected these guys to be FIRED UP or putting it all on the line for this game is delusional. Doesn't matter what they say, the hype had them playing for the division title next week, and all that got yanked out from under them yesterday.

Those are 10 huge points. I am not sure we have 100 yards of offense yet. 10 points might be out of reach.

Baker is saving Ben... otherwise the announcers might have to remove their lips from Bens butt and comment on his 20/34 for 96 yards (2.8 ypa) 1 TD, 1 INT first half.

Two guys open for a first down, and it will be blamed on the play call.

Posted By: Steubenvillian Re: Gameday at Pittsburgh - 01/04/22 02:54 AM
Anybody blaming injury on Baker's performance is a fool. He, plus 4 drops, are making this game a joke. OBJ's dad was right. Add to that having Chubb watching from the sidelines, has made me lose all faith in Stephanski. This gameplan is pitiful. Pull Baker, it can't be any worse. Recievers open, and a QB who won't throw the ball to them. This game and last week, has convinced me Baker needs to go.

Me too.. Baker needs to get his shoulder right but perhaps more importantly, he needs to get his head right. They commented on that pump when the guy was open and he couldn't pull the trigger. That's been happening and getting worse all year, it didn't happen before... Don't know if he doesn't trust himself or what, but he is absolutely NOT the same guy he was then.

Either way there are too many questions to give baker a contract, get rid of him in the off-season and wish him well. He is just at his ceiling, mostly mentally. All the arm talent in the world don’t matter if you can’t read a defense.

I'm saying this: No QB who likes to be aggressive and get the ball down the field is coming here. That guy doesn't want to be turned into a game manager. Stefanski's offense doesn't allow for any real aggression in the passing game. This is the same reason any quality WR will avoid Cleveland. See Stefon Diggs as an example. Stefanski's offense is basically not effective at this level. Maybe high school. Not beyond that. It simply doesn't challenge anyone. Sid Gillman always said that the fooltball field is 100 yards long and 53 yards wide. And it was his idea to make the defense defend every inch of the field. Stefanski has NO clue what to do at this level. His time is up as a play caller if Cleveland EVER wants to develop an offense that will be worthy of moving forward as a competitive force in the NFL.

No, take him off the field and whatever you do, don't run play action. Put a TE in the backfield so they are 100% sure you are NOT going to run the ball. It's been working so well.

At this point I'm starting to wonder if that is the overall strategy. Just let Mayfield hang himself and then the front office has a reason to make a move in the offseason. Hopefully Stefanski is stripped of his play calling duties.

If Stefanski's goal is to embarrass Baker, then the play is to pull him and put Keenum in the game right now. Game still within reach, if the guys are really open and another QB would make the plays... prove it. Put Keenum in and if we start to move the ball and score points... there you go.

We don't run screens anymore.

Just that middle screen to Hooper but we haven't even seen that horrible screen in a few weeks

Stefanski's thought that you can't have Chubb on the field when you throw the ball is also laughable. he telegraphs his plays that way.
You should be able to screen ALL DAY with Chubb. Too bad Stefanski is a complete jackass.

This really is like watching one of our Hue Jackson offenses tonight. It hasn't been this bad in a few years.

I'm not sure if a Freddie Kitchens offense looked this bad?

I do wonder if Watt is simply dropping off the line of scrimmage. On a pass play Hudson is limited on how far he can go beyond the line of scrimmage or he would get penalized for being illegally downfield. Thoughts on this?

Stefanski got the job because of running kubiak offense. He’s is lost now. So you look at the rest of the HC duties and he’s failed that too. Really no reason to keep him

NO passing QB is coming to Cleveland to be shut down by that jackass Stefanski. Ditto for any quality WR. Stefanski MUST GO as the play caller. Period.

Not sure I get what you are saying. The idea here is we are passing too much, how is that shutting down a passing QB?

I do agree with you on this... the rest of the league knows how to defend his offense but he will not adjust

Nah don't worry, Bengals have no reason to play Burrow. Only thing that saves us from that complete embarassment.

That's exactly what he did. In the first half they rushed the edges but sat back in the middle and played passing lanes, now they are alternating between rushing and playing passing lanes... it's almost like they know what play is coming... almost... kind of.

Well we all know that Stefanski is unable to effectively adjust in game so that makes sense. Film study probably set up the Steelers to figure out what is coming. Just awful.

People have said that Baker can only be successful when everything around him is perfect. I think the same thing can be said of Stefanski... give him a top 5 running game, a great defense, a QB who never makes mistakes, and a team that gets off to fast starts and plays with leads... he can win. Take any one of those things away and he struggles.

I know KS calls the plays but I have no idea what the dynamic is between KS and AVP. in game planning or in-game adjustments.. but AVP seems to avoid all of the criticism as people focus on KS....

Ben has a short field one decent completion one decent run and two scores makes it virtually impossible to overcome the way they are playing.

Chubb on the sideline.....only 10 Carries, stefanski pass happy again. S6nd he will put all the blame on baker
Posted By: Steubenvillian Re: Gameday at Pittsburgh - 01/04/22 03:52 AM
Chubb has 7 yards a carry, and Stephanski has him on the sidelines. The coach is giving this game away, and Baker is helping him.

Done and done.

Whoever thought we had a chance to win this has not been watching these clowns at all this year.
Posted By: DCDAWGFAN Re: Gameday at Pittsburgh - 01/04/22 03:59 AM
All of the bitching and moaning aside, the difference in the game right now is that the Steelers have committed to using Harris and we have relegated Nick Chubb to an occasional support role.
Posted By: DogNDC Re: Gameday at Pittsburgh - 01/04/22 03:59 AM
Look.. the D has played well in this game... The D aint the problem..... its Kevin and Baker that are the problem. Do you really think they will get a score now?? When we have to throw... Baker cant get it done... Here N.Chubb is having a decent game and he is on the sidelines most of the night. Stefanski does not know how to use the personal he has.... He is more concerned about his system instead of how to use his players correctly

Yep. If they didn’t need the jaguars to beat the colts, they’d probably be in the playoffs this year. With a notably inferior team.

Posted By: DCDAWGFAN Re: Gameday at Pittsburgh - 01/04/22 04:03 AM
Why won't Baker throw the ball down the field? It's 3rd and freaking 20 yards in a must score drive and he decides to run it. THROW THE BALL UP to DPJ or somebody who is downfield.. just throw it, maybe something good will happen... NOTHING good is going to happen when he tries to run on 3rd and 20.

Chubb on the field for 11 carries

Johnson carrying the ball on 3rd and 30 for a 3 yard gain.

I guess if we are gonna dream "maybes" we can dream bigger than that can't we? I'd love to have receivers catch the ball when it hits them in the hands, maybe we are up by 30 then?

We need a better game plan

9 sacks is on the coaching. Baker can't even finish his drops before he is getting pressured

Or.. alternate thought... give him 10-15 more carries and maybe he has 3 or 4 MORE of those runs and he has 120 yards.. but he can't break long runs if he never gets the freaking ball.

I guess if we are gonna dream "maybes" we can dream bigger than that can't we? I'd love to have receivers catch the ball when it hits them in the hands, maybe we are up by 30 then?

Pitt has had 8, 9 and 10 in the box to stop the run most of the night.
I think you are exaggerating but for the sake of argument, let's say you are correct...

Then I would think that leaving Chubb in the game and running play action might just freeze those 8, 9, 10 guys for just a split second to allow people to get open faster and to slow up that pass rush just a step.... did we do any of that? F#$# no. We put a back-up to a back-up on the edge with TJ Watt, gave him no help, and went empty backfield most of the night.

Just one reason why I have gone from being upset and questioning KS to being fully on-board with not caring if he's here next year or not.

He jumped 2 yards early

I was a kid living in the deep south and everyone was a Saints fan (even with bags on their head). Archie Manning literally put his life on the line every game. Back then New Orleans was where QBs went to die, sadly in this day and age its Cleveland. But the Haslams are happy with the positive cash flow.

DC, I'm glad to see you are waking up!!... There is NO GAME PLAN that should include Hudson on Watt by himself. And BTW.. what did we do to adjust when clearly Watt is beating Hudson like a drum?? NOTHING... so that is why I get on Stefanski... no adjustments, just more perplexing play calls.

Ah yeah, the luxury of time to run play action. Would be great to have that, wouldn't it? We can say our running game would have bailed us out because we didn't use the running game. Follow the thread again, people scream we dont get the ball to Chubb and then we do and lose yards, or get 1 or 2 yards. Nothing has shown running the ball more would have given us a better outcome except for speculation. I'd be MUCH happier if we ignored a running game that was working. We had nothing tonight.

You know what is the worst I have ever seen is? This franchise and its fans. Yeah it is Baker that sucks...him and the other 29 QB's since 1999. Please cut Baker, so he can get out of this cesspool and maybe salvage his career.

Oh and if you think Wilson, Rodgers, or any other good QB with a choice would go to Cleveland you are delusional. Your best hope is to draft another QB to ruin.

You all are truly pathetic and are you getting what you deserve.

Stefanski should get four guys open most of the time instead of three. Then maybe we will be successful.

Is this Baker's wife or his daddy or something?? Baker is playing like HOT CRAP and you want to talk about people turning on him?? Please, he keeps running onto the field with a bad shoulder, telling everyone the harness is not hindering him and then throws to everyone else but Browns!! Baker is the one that mis-reads coverages and MISSES WIDE OPEN receivers. I will not blame it all on Baker because the problem actually starts with Stefanski. Stefanski should have had enought back bone to sit Baker down and let him heal... They both had driven this team down this year!

Disgraceful. An embarrassment to football fans and the city of Cleveland.

I want Haslam to make a public statement to the fans of this “team” apologizing for the crap we were forced to watch this season.

Expectations are this teams worst opponent. Culture hasn’t changed. Berry and stefanski set this team back with bad signings and drafts and double speak concerning the qb. Either it’s next man up for all or none. Anyone with eyeballs knew baker was done for the season after the raiders game. But they marched him out there despite having the highest paid backup qb. Creating a situation where there are no winners and everyone will lose big and we nowadays are starting back over with 4 years wasted. Sorry I think this whole staff is trash
Posted By: superbowldogg Re: Gameday at Pittsburgh - 01/04/22 04:41 AM
