Tyler Buchanan
@Tylerjoelb
Actual bill is out. I'll have a lot on it tomorrow morning for @OhioCapJournal

Of note: Along with sportsbooks at casinos & elsewhere, this bill proposes to allow $20 fixed price sports prop bets at lotto retailers. Would be a pretty big deal
It passed not long ago here in Tennessee and it's a cash cow for the state.
I remember when the Ohio Lottery was going to pay for the schools.
My exact same thought.
Yet that's a claim I never made. The Ohio lottery does bring a lot of income to the state of Ohio. It does in part pay for the schools. While you are certainly correct that it doesn't pay for nearly all of it, the alternative would be that the tax payers would be burdened with the part of the schools the lottery does pay for. And I'll bet you almost any amount of money that most Ohio voters would want their taxes raised by doing away with the lottery.

Quote:
The Lottery transferred $1.153 Billion in Fiscal Year 2019 to the Lottery Profits Education Fund for use by primary, secondary, vocational and special education in Ohio. Profits were derived from the sale of draw and instant scratch-off tickets, and from the video lottery terminal (VLT) games offered at the seven racetracks, of which the Lottery oversees.

Do you really think Ohio tax payers want to foot the bill for that money?
The lottery pays for a very small amount of the state's education bill.
I'll ask you again, do you want your property taxes to increase in order to cover the over 1.1 billion dollars they paid in 2019?

My property taxes have more than quintupled since I bought the place. I appreciate that the lottery helped with school funding, but "helping" slightly wasn't exactly what was promised by the proponents.

That's exactly right.
Ohio finally wants a piece of the pie. Cavs -3.5 tonight!

Won't take effect until Jan. 2023 why?
Translation: everyone that gets to get in on this has already been chosen and everyone else just feeds them, same as with the casinos.

Looks like it go into effect sooner.

On a side note, frustrated the Browns can't score more than 12 points a game? Take the Browns under and make sitting there a more tolerable experience!

All I can say is get ready to be bombarded with sports betting advertisement that you would never have considered possible. Radio, TV, newspapers and almost every media venue that tracks your location on the internet. Every industry advertises but here where gambling is legal it seems like it's all I see almost everywhere.

That will certainly be better than disgusting banner & column ads for toenail fungus, earwax, and 1 Simple Trick to cure liver disease, constipation, and enlarged prostates that make me miss the days of Russian and/or Asian mail-order bride ads.
Finally!

Just wish I could have taken advantage of Landry's overrated public hype and lack of production these past few years. I could have retired off of those prop bets! OBJ too!
You may think that now. Give it time.....

Ohio already has casinos Pit. The ads are barely noticeable.
That will all change when sports betting becomes legal. Look, I live in state that didn't have legal sports gambling when I moved here but have it now. I hope you're ready for J. B. Smoove playing the role of Caesar.

Of course they couldn't get this up and running before the start of the NFL season. Happy betting, nonetheless!

Never bet, neither do anything with desire for personal gain.
If you have food and clothing with that be content.
