It is not so easy to play a road game at Illinois and get a win.
Nebraska is down 14 points with 9 minutes in the 4th quarter as Illinois has shown some home field pride on the day.
Posted By: cfrs15 Re: College Football scores. - 08/28/21 08:30 PM
UCLA 24 - Hawaii 3

End of the first quarter

Fresno St. 31 - UCONN 0

Middle of the third quarter
Posted By: THROW LONG Re: College Football scores. - 08/28/21 08:42 PM
Nebraska, now down 8, just missed an extra point with less than 4 minutes to go.
Illinois, couldn't cover the pass, after bringing it on run defense 5 straight plays near the goaline- 10-12 yard line.

22-30
Posted By: PortlandDawg Re: College Football scores. - 08/28/21 09:09 PM
Nebraska tried to make it a game. The other games quickly became unwatchable.
Posted By: PortlandDawg Re: College Football scores. - 08/28/21 09:10 PM
I’m watching the replay of tOSU beating Clemson down last year. It’s more fun than watching Hawaii get rolled.
Posted By: cfrs15 Re: College Football scores. - 09/05/21 03:30 AM
Chip Kelly has evolved. Finally. I just saw his running QB take a snap from under center and hand it off to his running back on a stretch play the right for about 50 yards.

Man, the Clemson-Georgia game was a slug fest. Georgia D was like flies on poop
Posted By: PortlandDawg Re: College Football scores. - 09/05/21 01:20 PM
Chip Kelly needed to evolve. That gimmick O he ran at Oregon only worked because the Pac 10 was down. USC was under scholarship sanctions. He recruited speed out of California while they couldn’t. Small and fast works against a down USC or a hapless Oregon Beavers team. Once his teams ran into real physical teams, aka tOSU, his hurry up, three card Monty backfield nonsense got exposed. His teams got punched in the mouth because they couldn’t line up and beat their man in an actual smash mouth game.

One thing is for certain: do jot draft any OLine from either of those two schools. That linebacker Dean from Georgia might pair nicely with JOK, though.

Bummer. Would have liked to see FSU win (if ND was not going to cover).

I think it's good for college football to have FSU relevant.

It may be a little early in the season to say that. I mean, is FSU actually relevant or will we find out that ND is irrelevant?

Notre Dame, upon being given the gift of FSU missing their FG try in single overtime, and getting the ball on FSU's 25
Gained only 2 yards on 3 plays before getting lucky on their own FG try.

How do you not have more than 1 guy back there with a safety racing over to help? You've got your defense up playing man coverage like you are trying to not give up 10 yards.

I watched the Jackson State vs Tennessee State game last night and it was a very entertaining game. I will say that Deion Sanders son Shedeur Sanders, who plays QB for his dad at JSU, is very good for a freshman. Kid has good size and all the tools.

That'd be a solid hire for him... I've always liked Luke... he's done a great job at Cincy...

only thing I'd worry about is he knows Ohio High School football very well making it easier to recruit... obviously USC is a big draw, but I'd worry a bit that he's not as familiar with the schools on the West Coast...

Ohio State Football against Tulsa.

with 5 minutes to play. Ohio state punted up 6 points to a team that had scored touchdowns on their last 2 drives.
With 4 minutes to go, Ohio State in scoring position on the 12 was contemplating how important the field goal would be to go up 2 score.
they scored a touchdown the next play.
and got a pick 6 on the next drive.

Ohio State Won the final 3 minutes, but,
Ohio State dodged a loss to Tulsa today.

About the worst Ohio State team probably since 1983 equaling 2 other outlier years.

Can Ohio State fire their head coach after a win???

I think discussion on the next head coach of Ohio State should not be unheard of or out of the question.

IT'S $%%#$%#%#%$ TULSA!!!!

Ohio State plays Akron next week. Oh my gosh. banghead

Some of worst calls of all time in this Penn St/Auburn game. It's like,, "think that call was bad? Hold my beer!". They actually made Penn St punt on 3rd down.
Posted By: PortlandDawg Re: College Football scores. - 09/19/21 05:56 AM
So much overreaction. The Bucks have been blessed by years of talented QB play since Braxton Miller strapped on his shoulder pads. CJ is 19 years old. He’s not a running QB. It’s going to take some time for it all to slow down for him. If it doesn’t we have another 5 star kid in the wings.
It’ll be a down year by recent Bucks standards. We’ll all survive through it.
Let’s hope the running game can carry us until Stroud finds his groove. As to the D… Tulsa’s QB had too much time far too often. Again we’ve been spoiled by the likes of Bosa and Chase Young. We have to scheme better pressure. Not sure where to find it right now. I think the coaches are looking too.

If a loss can be a quality loss, the Gators being nipped by Bama by 2 would qualify.

Time to roll up the sleeves, win the east, which is no small feat, and see if we can clip them in the SEC Championship.

That assumes they win the west. They have several tough SEC games in front of them.

The entire ACC is a bit of a train wreck.

Clemson loses to Georgia, barely beats Georgia Tech.. good thing they don't have to play Georgia Southern.

UNC gets beat by VT.. at first I thought that might mean VT is better than expected, then VT loses to WVU.

Miami gets stomped by Bama.. ok, it's Bama in week 1.. then they get stomped again by Sparty..

Since joining the big 10 there hasn't been much of a reason to.. Terps took OSU to OT in a fluke game back in 2018.. but since 2014, the average margin of victory for OSU is 36 points.

Terps play Kent State this week, then they play Iowa.. Iowa will be a big test to see if the Terps have improved as much as I hope they have. Not that I expect them to beat top 10 teams, but we will have a data point to see how they compete.

I didn't watch college football in protest of Ohio State being on the Big Ten Network who nobody gets.
And there were a half dozen other football games on TV in Columbus but none of them a Big10 game. And this has been a staple for years, for years one local station carries the SEC game of some week, (and mlb baseball on, but not Buckeye football?)
Well I listened to the Buckeyes on the Radio.
Some of it, I mean, real opponents are hard to come by, sure Oregon, but Tulsa- Akron- Rutgers? I forget who they played today, but, they were a pretty sorry team.
The late news was all about the Buckeyes and the interview of Head Coach Ryan Day.

All I really want to say is Ryan Day comes across in interviews as a guy that doesn't have any real answers and wouldn't provide any real ingenuity in a tough contest. (But it's not really about him, there are about 300 coaches at Ohio State right? )
5000 graduate, 50'000 enrolled. Over Half a million surviving alumni around the world. ( I may be way short on that 3rd statement.)

Sorry to hear Florida went down. Not really following college football this year.

Utah won 42-26 by the way. USC musta had two 8 point tds. but lost by 16 it wasn't close, they were trying onside kicks unsuccessfully, from the 10 minutes to play mark down 35-10 iirc.
Utah had not won in Los Angeles since 1916.

I lived in Cedar Rapids IA from the ages of 2-10. My parents have friends there that are huge Hawkeye fans. I’ve always rooted for them unless they are playing OSU. Ferentz is a good coach, always seems to have a descent team without getting the 5 star recruits.

Is #2 Iowa the most over ranked team in history? They are down 24-7 to Purdue with about 7 minutes to go. Is David Bell really this good? 11 catches 240 yards. Might be an interesting late 1st early 2nd round pick if we decide to move on from OBJ.

You probably always liked Iowa football because in all my watching them for years, they almost always, I mean the closest to 100% of the time out of maybe any team you can name, play sound football.
I mean, they line up in traditional formations, and make sound plays for the game situations.
That doesn't mean they were ever good, or talented, or dominant, or tough, but dang they are always sound!

They always play basically, do the edges need held? yep they held the edges, did the safeties need to be in position, yep they kept them in position. Do you need to see basic football, from a couple different formations? Yep, they do basic well.

With 3 star guys? Oh ya! 3 star, 2 1/2 star guys. Basic, sound, football, with 2.5 star guys, That is Iowa, that has been Iowa for many+ years.

Ohio State Buckeyes beat the Penn State Nittnany Lions 33-24 improving the rivalries record to 20 wins to 8 losses in the Buckeyes favor since the latter team joined the Big 10 in 1993. (Now, technically one of those wins in 2010 by the buckeyes had to be vacated.)

In the 1980's we used to watch the buckeyes struggle through playing the entire 9 of other big 10 schools every year. To face every big 10 school from back then, proved a big order; especially because the coaches gained a familiarity with the other teams styles.

Ohio State got Jobbed by the Referees in the game they won today over the Nebraska Cornhuskers.

Here's what happened. Early, Way early in the 2nd half. Nebraska was punting, (in a game the refs hadn't effected up to that point too much.) and!! (punting because nebr sucked.) and!!
Ohio State got a call, they said punt catch interference against Nebraska, now the tv tried to say you can't be inside one yard, and in front of him, and the others said, well, "he didn't touch the player," but
What was the freaking result??

A stupid punting Nebraska team that had done nothing all day because they suck, had the Buckeyes start their drive, at the buckeyes own 25 yard line instead of the buckeyes own 10 ish yard line after the 15 yard penalty. ( and keep in mind the TV said it was a correct call because the dude got withing one yard and right in front of him. So!!

The Fallout, the dolt Nebraska fans booed for 8 minutes, real time no matter what happened. and the buckeyes made a lot of positive plays. Buckeyes would have scored on that drive with correct officiating.
Including a caught pass at the 50 yard line. But... what happened???

The officials, who had Nebraska fans mad at them, gave Nebraska a make up call.
and the officials gave Nebraska a 2nd make up call. I think one of those was to negate Ohio States 30 yard positive play.
and the 2nd was to Give Ohio State another 20 yards to go play because the guy winked at the other guy.
he winked at him.

That's 2! 2 make up calls. So It's still Ohio States ball, and they probably get the first down AGAIN!
AND THEN, there was another make up call.
and then Another make up call, and Ohio State had to punt, now... All 4 of those calls, were NOT based on what actually the facts would show, but what the refs, and Nebraska fans would have wished would have happened.

Then, it's the later drive, and Ohio State is (because they see this is clearly bull ) OSU is dominating them on the defense, and holds Nebraska to 4 negative plays on offense, Then,
out of nowhere, they refs threw Another Make up call, against the buckeyes, for (standing still in the red zone) or something, I thought it was legal play, but whatever it gave the nebr. dolts a first down.

Then, Nebraska hits on a big play, because everyone was like, What the heck happened that call was so stupid.
Then next play Nebrask scores, should be enough make up calls, right? No.

On the Next drive, The Refs, Give Another make up call, and Ohio State can't even stand still without the refs screwing them.
Then the Buckeyes get the first down anyway on a 20+ yard gain.
Then next play. Another make up call by the refs, and they weren't actual penalties, and weren't based on facts.
so.
the next play, the Buckeyes, Get a 35 yard pass to the Tight end I've not heard of, and the Ref, says No he's out of bounds, but he was clearly in.
So, 10 seconds later they review it, and it clearly shows he made a catch, to give the Buckeyes a first down in field goal range.

Clearly, so, ... The Refs see this, but say, "Not today buckeyes, no catch" . So then, after getting 3 plays over 30 yards on the drive the Buckeyes had to punt.

then on the next drive, the Refs throw a flag because the Nebraska Sideline came onto the field, and both refs, nodded, in discussion,
but then the head ref, he shook his head, and said, " uhh, no foul" .

then the buckeyes still had to overcome another make up call and still got a field goal, and then stopped the loser Nebraska who played very poorly all day from getting points because they missed their field goal set up by the make up calls.

Then with about 4 minutes to play, the Refs finally went back to being neutral observers and let the teams play, and the Buckeyes kicked the cornhuskers into oblivion again.

But the Bottom line is. The Referees Biases against Ohio State today, probably, easily Swang the Scoreboard
10 points in to nebraskas favor
in a game
Where Ohio State won, ended up winning by 9.

Refs screwed the Buckeyes today.

CJ Stroud rewriting the Buckeye record books. OSU up 49-0 at the half vs Michigan State. 8 possessions, 7 touchdowns and a kneeldown to end the half. Stroud broke the consecutive completion record with 17 straight, tied the most TD passes per game at 6. In the first qtr, he was 16-of-17, 241 yards, three touchdowns. At the half, he's 29-of-31 for 393 yards and six touchdown passes. This isn't against a MAC or Division II school, this is against the #7 team in the country that beat Michigan just 2 weeks ago. Chris Olave also broke the all time Buckeye TD reception record with his 35th.

The Six Pack: Ohio State vs. Michigan State, Oregon vs. Utah among best college football bets in Week 12 - CBSSports.com
https://www.cbssports.com/college-f...g-best-college-football-bets-in-week-12/

No. 7 Michigan State at No. 4 Ohio State: One of the more interesting parts of this week is the look-ahead factor. Not only is next week the final week of the regular season, but it's rivalry week. I don't know if you've heard about it, but Ohio State has a rather big rivalry with Michigan that's important to them. Perhaps this is why the Buckeyes have failed to cover a spread in their last seven games ahead of the Michigan rivalry (last year's game was canceled).

When you look at that trend and combine it with the fact that this spread seems pretty disrespectful of the Spartans, it's hard not to lean Sparty's way. I know we took Purdue and got burned by the Buckeyes last week, but head-to-head results aside -- it works both ways, Spartan fans -- Michigan State's a better team than Purdue. Plus, after watching Ohio State play with its food far too often, I'm not ready to buy the idea that it's suddenly flipped the switch because it pounded a Purdue team coming off a huge win. I mean, Purdue did still score 31 points in that game.

While Michigan State's defense gives up a lot of yards, it tightens up in the red zone, which happens to be an area the Ohio State offense has struggled most of the season. The Buckeyes win, but not nearly as easily as the spread suggests. Ohio State 38, Michigan State 24 | Michigan State +19

The Buckeyes defense was pretty bad that day. Injuries and younger players combined with bad techniques and bad decisions or reads.

they may have changed and gotten healthier, though... One Cb may still be getting healthier.
Posted By: ScottPlayersFacemask Re: College Football scores. - 11/21/21 07:45 AM
Sure….that day. It’s because you have a ridiculously young team (on both sides of the ball) learning while playing in live action. Look at the beginning of the season, Stroud was throwing everything high and overthrowing deep balls. He was still figuring it all out, plus trying to slow the game down, emotions and etc.

Same goes with the defense and also the adjustments of having Barnes call the defense. If I remember correctly they were starting 7 new players on D.

My opinion: I expressed this to friends but not on here. This year was going to be interesting, because your current blue bloods were all losing big time QBs. Bama with Mac Jones, Clemson with Trevor, and OSU with Fields. That’s 3 out of 4 previous playoff teams. This was the year for those other team to take advantage of it.

Those three teams have way too much talent to have a bad season. The recruiting they’ve done in the past few years basically has set them up for least the next 2,3,4 years.
Posted By: PitDAWG Re: College Football scores. - 11/21/21 04:40 PM
I'm not one to make predictions in terms of college kids as freshmen. But I swear that Stroud has to be one of the best freshman QB's I've ever seen play the game. As a freshman I have seen him have some missteps along the way, but his poise under pressure is second to none for such a young kid. Watching him progress and grow, watching him in the NFL will certainly be something I'm looking forward to. And I'm not one who has really promoted the Buckeye QB's at the NFL level. But this kid is different.

Big game this Saturday. I'm an OSU fan, wife is a fan of the other team. Our kids got us tickets to the game for our anniversary. (hope my son paid for them. He's doing great financially. Daughter is still in college).

Yesterday, watching the Bucks destroy msu, wife said "I hope next weeks game isn't like this one." I paused, then thought: I guess I'm in a no win situation on Sat. If the Bucks blow out that team, I have to ride home with my wife. Not good. If that team wins, I have to ride home with my wife. Not good."

He has been really impressive to watch.

My dad called after the game and I was telling him I don’t want the season to end. I wish they could play 10 more games.

Watching this team grow has been so much fun. Watching Stroud throwing it around with Olave, Wilson, and JSN. It’s one thing to have a one player with good hands on offense, but having three and this isn’t even including Ruckert. Henderson has been great and also love seeing he is an option in the pass game too.

The two best teams in the country right now are Georgia and Ohio State and I don't think it's all that close, Alabama is probably the 3rd best team but already have a loss and still have to play Georgia in the SEC championship.

Of the other 1 loss teams... Michigan will lose to OSU, OU and Okie St still have to play so one of them will lose, ND will beat Stanford, and ND will get in ahead of an undefeated Cincinnati team.

How though? Cincinnati has the head to head, which is also the best win of either team. Notre Dame has one win against the current AP top 25.

The winner of Oklahoma and Oklahoma State game could shoot up the ratings next week. If Oklahoma they play Okie State again in the Championship game if Okie State they will play Baylor. If Oklahoma beats Okie State back to back or Oklie State beats Oklahoma and then Baylor I think a 12-1 Big Twelve Champion will get in over Cincinnati.

The committee sent a clear message when they left PSU out a few years ago. Penn State had the Big Ten championship and a head to head win over Ohio State but OSU got in over them, because they had 1 loss to PSU's 2. I think an undefeated Cincinnati should get in over a 2 loss Alabama.
Posted By: DCDAWGFAN Re: College Football scores. - 11/22/21 07:35 PM
I agree with you that Cincy should get in... but I'm not sure the clear message sent by picking OSU over PSU (2 power 5 teams with good football pedigree) is going to play the same as picking a non-power 5 Cincy team over perennial playoff team like Alabama.

I see that, but it would be a joke, considering Alabama's resume isn't really that impressive. They have one extra win against the top 25, one of which is an Arkansas team on the verge of being booted out.

Couple that with an extra loss, and possibly 2? I think that would be shameful.
Posted By: PitDAWG Re: College Football scores. - 11/22/21 07:47 PM
I think a lot of it boils down the the fact that the small teams just don't get the love. We could blame that on the fact that the market and viewership simply wouldn't be there, ( all about the Benjamins ), or that they may see them as fluke that couldn't compete in the actual tournament. I have my thoughts on the matter but no real evidence to support that opinion. Regardless of their reasoning, regardless of their worthiness, I think they will be out whether that's right or wrong.

Yeah, nobody wants to see Cincinnati or some other program that never goes get the crap kicked out of them, but I feel like the committee has usually gotten it right.

For the record, I think these kinds of conversations will eventually go away as we can all see the movement that is going on in college football. We are going to eventually have less conferences with more teams. Super conferences. Obviously there will still be arguments, since having a bigger conference guarantees you won't play a bunch of teams in your own conference, but this anchor of being out of the power 5 will be gone, which should help the Cincinnati's in college football.

I also think this Cincinnati team is being treated like Boise State of ten years ago, and I think that's false. This team is fundamentally a lot better. They play good defense. Luke Fickell is a really good coach. I think they can line up and play with just about anyone.

I think Concy stands a decent chance to get in. Georgia will be in win or lose in the SEC Champioship game if they beat Georgia Tech this weekend and go into Championship game undefeated. So a terrible scenario for the Bearcats would be for Bama to beat Georgia in Atlanta. Then have Oklahoma or Oklahoma State win the Big Twelve with only 1 loss.

Then it would be #1 - Ohio State or Michigan depending who wins Saturday assuming they also win the Big Ten Championship game.
#2 - Alabama because they just beat Georgia in the biggest game of the year.
#3 - Oklahoma or Oklahoma State for just winning the Big 12.
#4 - Georgia for an undefeated regular season and lone loss to the #2 team on a neutral field.

More than likely

#1 - Georgia
#2 - Ohio State or Michigan whoever wins Saturday assuming they win the Big Ten Championship.
#3 - Oklahoma or Oklahoma State for just winning the Big 12.
#4 - Cincinnati - Only team in contention would be Notre Dame and most years they would get in ahead of Cincy but this year their lone loss would be Cincy and that could not get overlooked.

Chaos scenario

Auburn pulls the upset and beats Bama and then Bama beats Georgia who gets in from the SEC? Just Georgia?
Michigan beats Ohio State but then loses to Wisconsin in the Big Ten Championship game. Does the Big Ten get any teams in? Does both get in?
Oklahoma beats Okie State in Regular season finale but Okie State wins the Big 12 Championship games. Does either team get in? Or niether team get in?

#1 - Cincinnati
#2 - Georgia
#3 - Notre Dame
#4 - Who is the best 2 loss team? Bama, Ohio State, Michigan, Michigan State, Oklahoma State, Ole Miss, Oregon, Baylor, Iowa, Pittisburg.

Yeah I would have that first 3 locked in, and I think either Michigan or Ok St would have the best argument for that last spot

I suppose this can fit here, since this is a huge score for USC.

https://www.cbssports.com/college-f...h-in-college-football-coaching-carousel/

USC is set to hire Oklahoma coach Lincoln Riley in its search to replace Clay Helton, sources tell CBS Sports' Dennis Dodd. Riley, 38, has led the Sooners for the past five seasons after taking over for legendary coach Bob Stoops.

Oklahoma went 55-10 under Riley with four Big 12 titles and three College Football Playoff appearances during his tenure. The Sooners posted a 10-2 record in 2021 but missed out on the Big 12 Championship Game after losing to Oklahoma State 37-33 in a Bedlam thriller on Saturday.

After the game, Riley vehemently shot down rumors tying him to the LSU opening, but he was not specifically asked about the the USC vacancy.

Though Riley has been connected to other high-profile openings in the past, including opportunities in the NFL, this is truly a rare, if not unprecedented, move in the modern landscape. He becomes the first Oklahoma coach to leave for another college job since Jim Tatum left OU for Maryland in 1947. This marks the first time the Sooners will be in the market for a new coach since 1999 when they hired Stoops.

Southern California's local talent pool, along with the the appeal of Los Angeles and USC's brand, were focal points in the stunning move, according to The Athletic's Bruce Feldman.

Riley's imminent move West comes as Oklahoma and Texas are set to depart the Big 12 for the SEC. Though the two blue bloods are not scheduled to switch conferences until 2025, it's possible -- if not likely -- that they transition as soon as next year. Southern California is a recruiting hotbed of players who will likely be extremely attracted to Riley's wide open, up-tempo offense. Riley has produced two Heisman Trophy winning quarterbacks (Baker Mayfield, Kyler Murray) and sent another to New York as a Heisman Trophy finalist (Jalen Hurts).

Since being hired as the team's offensive coordinator by Stoops ahead of the 2015 season, Riley has led Oklahoma to top-10 offensive performances each season except for 2021 -- the Sooners are tied with SMU for 11th -- reaching as high as No. 1 nationally in 2018.

USC fired Helton two games into the 2021. Helton went 46-24 with the Trojans, including a Rose Bowl victory over Penn State following the 2016 season. Here are takeaways from Sunday's stunning news.

A coup of epic proportions
New USC athletic director Mike Bohn has a relationship with Luke Fickell, one of the hottest names on the coaching market, due to their time together at Cincinnati. Because of that, it was only natural to connect the dots and put Fickell at the top of Bohn's list. Bohn pulled off a ninja move nabbing Riley from Norman in a move that will go down as one of the most monumental hires in recent college football history.

This is the juice that USC needs. The program has to win the public relations fight in Los Angeles, but it has fallen into a place where it's hard to attract a name at the peak of the profession that will play well in L.A. Riley accomplishes both. His success with the Sooners will reenergize a program that had become stale and put the Trojans back on the map after a half-decade of irrelevance.

Needed recruiting prowess
USC has become an afterthought in recruiting circles in SoCal, but that will change with Riley running the ship. He brings the perfect system to attract talent in the area, evolving from a pure Air Raid coach into a quarterback whisperer who not only develops superstars but runs a system that is founded in the power rushing attack.

Riley has a five-star player from California committed to Oklahoma in the Class of 2022, and three more top-50 players from the state -- including five-star quarterback and No. 2 overall prospect Malachi Nelson -- committed to the Sooners in the Class of 2023. Those players not only could follow Riley to USC but show just how highly regarded he already is in California.

Riley runs the system that virtually every high school coach in the region employs, which means that he will be able to open the doors of Heritage Hall and five-star offensive skill players will be attracted to the building like moths to a light.

The SEC factor played a role
Riley was asked about relationship with the administration after the loss to Oklahoma State, and he referenced the program's impending move to the SEC.

"I have no concerns about our administration, our AD, our president," he said. "We've been through a lot together. This isn't our first rodeo together. So, we always have conversations about the future. And certainly with all that's changing right now in the college landscape, all that's getting ready to change, for us, at some point here we transition into a new conference, those are always conversations that we're going to have, and we would be having those yearly no matter what."

That sounds cryptic and a little bit like he was unhappy with the challenges that playing in the SEC will present.

It's hard to blame him. Oklahoma struggled in the trenches against teams from the SEC during his entire tenure, and he would have been forced to do that on a weekly basis once the move is complete. What's more, he'd probably be doing it with a roster that isn't comparable to the majority of teams he will face no matter how the SEC divides up its divisions or pods.

Is Riley scared of the SEC? That will be the narrative, but it's not the way to look at it. If he feels like the program hit its ceiling in the Big 12, why not go somewhere that not only has more upside, but won't face the same challenges that Oklahoma will face in the near future?
Posted By: Day of the Dawg Re: College Football scores. - 11/29/21 12:50 AM
Lincoln Riley getting out of Oklahoma before his gimmick offense has to go up against SEC defenses week in and week out. Will be much easier in the soft Pac Ten.

Brian Kelly to LSU? What a low life. If he knew he was leaving, he should have left Knute Rockne's record intact like Lou Holz did. Why announce it now when your team has a shot at the playoffs?
Poor LSU's on the hook for 10 yrs at 10M per. He's going to flounder there.

The College football playoffs. OKLAHOMA STATE,

how can anyone, using an other argument than, Eyes on the TV game, and, "tradition"
automatically say,
that the Ohio State, Michigan, winner or loser, is a better football team
THIS YEAR,
than Oklahoma State, if they end up 10-1

and I don't care about, Cincinnati, or some other spot, just simply, just simply.
Michigan, and Notre Dame for that matter, or Ohio State, <<<<<< THOSE 3!!!

how anyone can say they are automatically, demonstrate-ably, or in any way other, JUST GIVEN THAT THEY ARE BETTER THAN OKLAHOMA STATE??????
I don't believe it! I want to see something on the field.
something besdes, "tradition" and , they draw more fans and eyes to bowl games, to TELL ME, that they DESERVE! to be the #2 ranked team in the Country?????

I want to see Oklahoma state, in the 4 game playoff!!
Posted By: Day of the Dawg Re: College Football scores. - 12/01/21 02:48 PM
I think Oklahoma State will get in if they beat Baylor Saturday. If Bama wins I think they will knock UC out of the playoffs because of winning a P5 conference championship over a top 10 team. If Georgia wins I think they simply take Bama's spot.

I looked at schedules and looking at schedules I do not see Michigan's schedule being better than Oklahoma State. Best P5 non conference win for Michigan was Washington. Best for Oklahoma State was Oregon State. Michigan had the better loss on the road vs top 10 Michigan State and a slightly better big win vs Ohio State. Which is the only top 25 win they have. Oklahoma State lost on the road to Iowa State. Oklahoma State has 2 wins over the top 25 in Baylor and Oklahoma. I believe the Big Ten is seen as a superior conference overall to the Big 12 and that is why Michigan is rated higher at this time.

Love watching the Ducks get rolled. I like Utah’s style. Traditional ground and pound. Very little spread concepts. Recruit good linemen and punch the opponents in the mouth. Oregon is getting punched. Couldn’t be happier. Obnoxious local fans.

I agree Portland. Oregon was so overrated all year IMO. Their QB was not good and they just never impressed me

100% agreed. I almost went to the taproom in my building at halftime to watch the rest of the game last night knowing it'd be full of duck fans.

I know we disagree on Iowa/Michigan today, but I'd much rather play Utah in LA than watching Iowa play them and watching OSU play Kentucky or A&M or whomever in the Citrus or Outback bowl.

Bama just pounded Georgia. At the end of the game, CBS analyst Gary Danielson said that if Michigan loses to Iowa tonight, the #4 spot in the playoff goes to Notre Dame, Baylor, or Ohio St.

Georgia got their butts handed to them... will probably make it into the playoffs, but after that beating doesn't really feel like they should.... UM is winning... if they win they're in... if they lose then ND will be in...

Does not look like any suspense this year on who gets in. I would guess it will be

#1 - Alabama 12-1
#2 - Michigan 12-1
#3 - Georgia 12-1
#4 - Cincinnati 13-0

I do not think there are any teams with much beef about these 4. Notre Dame is the only other 1 loss team and they lost to #4.

I'm going to go with:

#1 - Michigan 12-1
#2 - Alabama 12-1
#3 - Cincinnati 13-0
#4 - Georgia 12-1

Makes the committee look good and appear unbiased, while setting up what would likely be an all SEC championship game. From a business standpoint, this makes the most sense. The last thing the NCAA wants is to risk the remote chance of a UM vs UC championship game.

Believe me, I want to say the same exact thing. I'm a huge Buckeye Homer. However, I don't think Georgia was going to let anybody beat them last night. Their defense was probably the best I've ever seen in college football. - Keep mind that Michigan's Oline pushed the Buckeyes around back in November. - Not the case last night. I usually (99.9% of time) don't support the idea of the sec having 2 teams in the playoffs, however, there is little doubt that UGA and 'Bama are the two best teams in the country. - I also feel that Cincy and Xichigan were the 3rd and 4th best teams.
Keep in mind that Ohio State was really young this year. -Coming off a year where we destroyed Clemson in the playoffs and then played for a national championship, there had to be some turnover. A true freshman qb, rb, and a really young defense. Next year and the year after is where we'll see the Buckeyes take off again. - You'll also see Clemson and eventually USC back in the mix.

I think UGA wins a close one next Monday.

I thought you needed 7 wins, but it could be 6 wins. At any rate, no.

I'd rather have the option of watching two teams that are in theory equally matched over whatever other option the network might otherwise show.

It must be worth it to the bowl itself and the networks that air the game. I would bet the players and coaches are happy to go to a post season bowl.

There is always the option to not watch the game if you have no interest.

I was more bummed that the last game of the Bowl season (not including the championship game) was Baylor v Ole Miss. Two teams I find no interest in watching. I turned the TV off after the Bucks won. Would have liked to watch more football but, meh. To each their own I guess. I’m sure it was watched and enjoyed by many.

What I was happy about yesterday was watching two very good bowl games in a row. The Oklahoma State come back victory against Notre Dame was a thing of beauty to watch. Ohio state making the defensive statement they made while missing five starters in their lineup in that second half and the record breaking performance by Smith-Njigba combined with Stroud's performance during that second half were all things of beauty and I'm glad I didn't miss any of it.

It was really nice to see Georgia win. I have a feeling it will not be there last. When Saban hangs it up. Georgia Coach Smart will probably become the new Saban and Georgia the new Alabama. With the talent base in the state of Georgia and a National Title the sky is the limit for that program.
