Death, the sun rising and Spero Dedes calling a 1pm Browns game on CBS.
***CAUTION*** Nobody tell Robert Saleh how terrible the Jets are...he's keeping receipts!
I feel like we'll have Spero and gang pretty nuch the whole season.
Spero is our new Ian Eagle circa 1999-2004
I don't want to get ahead of myself, knowing how the NFL is "On Any Given Sunday" but, with Watts injury we have a very good chance of being 4-0 with the Chargers coming to town in week 5 ... GO BROWNS
Does anyone know who is starting at QB for the Jets? Flacco or Wilson?
The bad news is Flacco has owned us. The good news is he stinks now.
Still, our Qb is not good either.
Actually, Flacco Starting is Great News He Will Be a Sitting Duck for Our Pass Rush
I remember years ago on this board(or perhaps the older board) we were all discussing how we would happily trade two 1st round picks for Flacco (That was the going rate for an upper tier QB back then) Despite his age, Flacco can still wing it. They are pretty deep at WR with several nice talents (Corey David, Garrett Wilson, Braxton Berrios, and Moore) Uzamoh at TE, seemed to always have good games against us when he was with the Bengals...Their Oline is perhaps the worst in the league, especially with the OT injuries they've suffered.
We def. should be winning this one, and it shouldn't even be close.
This game should be a cake walk.
wow Bernie's footwork and mechanics are terrible and I love it.
The last time the Browns played the Jetys, the Jetts won,
the jets lines stunts on DL, really curfuffled the Browns OL,
And I'm thinking,
Does Kevin Stefanski only have one recipe for winning?
It's not that I think the Browns won't win on Sunday against the Jets,
It's that I think they CAN"t win.
I. they are up on themselves too high on themselves from week #I
2. The Browns defense simply can't be as pumped to dominate a half plus like they needed to to have a 58 yd fg's chance to beat Carolina
3. The same with the Browns RB's they simply can't be as motivated to out rush the opponent by I50 yards.
4. @uarterbacks matter, and Flacco is the better
5 WR's matter, and I don't know about the Jets' but the Browns' aren't really hitting on all cylinders.
There is No Way the Browns win this upcoming game. AND, being an AFC game it' will likely,
accelerate the date the Browns are mathematically eliminated from the playoffs this year.
Teach them how to do a little moon walk ! lol
Seriously that's a long ass time !
great memory
thank you for sharing that !
As crazy as it is for me, I remember that game against San Fran. I remember begging my parents to stay up to watch it (and my dad was easy to convince lol)
The last time the Browns played the Jetys, the Jetts won,
Wasn't that the game where every single one of our wide receivers and a bunch of other players were out with COVID?
This game should be a cake walk.
That's what has me worried... we should win.... but you never know as a browns fan...
We should win and we need to win. We really need to be 4-0 or minimum 3-1 after our first 4 games to have a real shot because our schedule gets significantly harder after that. Hopefully we can knock off Pittsburgh at home. After the Atlanta game the only game I see us winning is with the Pats before DW comes back. I know the " on any given Sunday" but man our schedule gets really tough. JMO
I’ve said this all along. Look at this stretch:
LA Chargers
New England
At Baltimore
Cincinnati
At Miami
At Buffalo
Tampa Bay
Looking forward to the trip up. I aways enjoy the first game of the year and being back in Cleveland.
The bad news is Flacco has owned us. The good news is he stinks now.
If we continue to have those breakdowns in coverage, Flacco will expose it. He is a vet and will recognize it. That needs to be cleaned up. Now.

No doubt. No matter the reviews on Flacco, he has a strong arm and is good at hitting he long ball.
I am no expert on defensive coverages, nor really care to be, but it makes no sense to me to not have a deep cover safety. I may not have liked it a whole lot when Williams had Peppers about 40 yards deep, but I like that better than having nobody.
I understand it may have been a communication issue, but I don't want those. I don't even want the chance. We can't have wide open receivers without having someone back there with at minimum a chance to tackle them.

I'm not worried about New England, Balt, Cincy, or, Miami.
Chargers, Buffalo, and Tampa are probably losses.
I don't think that stretch will be as bad as we think.
With or without Watson I think we'll lose at minimum of 1 game vs Cincy, Balti or Miami. Sweeping divisional rivals is hard - and because we did it last year with Cincy probably means we are less likely to this year. I know you are down on Burrows - but they went to the SB. That isn't all fluke and chuck it up Chuck plays. Injuries to all tams will be the biggest single variable. I think we'll have as much chance to beat Tampa as we do Cincy/Ravens.
Speaking for myself when I look at the schedule I keep being reminded how hard it is to win a game.
When was the last time we had a kicker win a game with a 58 yard field goal?
Now we are looking at the Jets like we own them.
Games in the NFL are close. A couple plays. Broken coverage and we almost gave away a game that we controlled for 4 quarters.
You play the schedule. The whole 1-0 thing is the only way to look at it. Last year NE beat the tar out of the Browns. We gave the Packer game away.
Lets beat the Jets.

I agree bone. Who knows how things will stack up once future games get here. I just look at the Jets at this point. Just win that game.
I don't expect a explosive O at least until Watson returns, and him being off as long as he has, we may not get that at all this year. Every game is going to be close. Play solid D and take points when you can get them and see how things shake out.
From the beginning of the Panthers game till 6 minutes left in the 4th the Browns controlled the game completely.
And we damn near lost.
If we can clean up a few things on defense; we could be really good on defense.
I fall back on the term of "foundation football." Play good defense. Win the turnover battle. Be efficient on offense. Play to your strengths. For us the strengths are OL and runningbacks. Make your kicks. (Go Cade go).
If Jacoby can make a few throws that are there to be made. We can stay close in games.
If you can do that every game. You have a chance to win.
I agree with both you and Bone. Each game is a chess match on its own. You game plan to expose your opponents weaknesses and game plan to work around their strengths. Each opponent is different. As the season goes on both your and your futures opponent will suffer injuries that can change your strategies. Looking down the road and trying to predict where you will be in that progression is a very difficult thing to do.

Well, it is easy to do, but accuracy is a crap shoot due in part to some of the reasons you mentioned.

I was in a hotel in Bangkok, Thailand, at the age of 19, I woke up in the morning and turned on the television, greatly surprised it was on tv there. It was a great game to watch.
For some reason I think most people who hear a story that starts out "I was in a hotel in Bangkok, Thailand, at the age of 19" expects the story to end a little differently than that.
After all, don’t call it “Bangkok” for nothin’.

"It was ten years ago today that my buddy Tommy came running out of the room, with tears streaming down his face, shouting "It's a boy! It's a boy!". We never went back to Thailand."
Ooh that’s nasty. Funny, too.

yes, it was.
flacco against the browns....what could happen?

Baker was practicing with the fill ins in a parking garage before the game.

There is alot more to the story but had to keep it clean for the board.
Browns should beat the Jets at home and be 2-0. Browns win another close one.
As others have stated, On any given Sunday.... I don't see Flacco having enough time to throw long ball, I hope they don't spring long running plays on us trying to get to the "sitting duck QB". I think JB will hit more of his passes and we win by 10....Go Browns!!!
Winfrey was being disciplined
I liked what I saw from Perry in camp. He can take on double teams and let others eat.
There is no way the Browns, after cutting most of their receivers, and taking a back step, a major back step at @uarterback can start out the season at 2-0,
No way, home or not, that the Browns win this game.
The Jets outcoached the browns last game,
The Browns are often making poor decisions in coaching during games in terms of... oh, I guess I can't prove it but, in unimaginative things that could be done esp. on defense, in game decisions,
looks like most other teams you can watch, many of them have more imagination than the Browns.
I'm picking the Jets, if I had a pick to make picks, I'm picking the Texans to win this week, and the Jets to win this week.
Garrett and Clowney, JoK?
Look around the league, they are barely above average.
Chubb and Hunt? ehh sometimes, they have their good games but bad ones too.
Bottom line
the Browns passing game is a major red flag in the flaws department
and you can't rely on a kicker to save you every week.
Jets win, and when they do, your going to look back at game one and say,
Ehh?
You're a 58 yard kick away from being 0-2. And with No @uarterback, no WRs, and no imagination on defense
it doesn't seem like it's going in the right direction.
Bulletin Board Material #2
Lol that quote cant be real
Hope you are right and Throw is wrong.
Two wins, back to back, is called a streak. It is allowed in the NFL, and Browns are grandfathered in. I don't expect it to be an easy win, but I do expect it. Hope we feast on Flacko.
Unleash the Elf! Go, Browns!
Grandheer's statement about Flacco all but guaranteeing a victory is over the top, but Flacco probably should have kept his mouth shut about his record against the Browns.
Reading some of his other tweets, it seems to be a parody account.

Oh wow! If that is the case, I apologize for posting it.

Delpit is proving to be a weak link.
Maybe,, Just maybe the problem wasn't Baker.. Maybe its coaching...

No, it is piss poor defense

This game was won. Took a complete melt down to lose it.
Baker threw for 145 yards last week.
Jacoby Brisset has been better in virtually every meaningful stat through 2 games........Not Desean Watson....Brisset has.
Baker was part of the problem without a question.
The collapse:
Part one.
To the game itself. Tyvis Powell was on the radio saying Denzel Ward was inexplicably covering the flat, like it was cover 2,which left JOK carrying someone the entire length of the feild when literally every one on the team was playing cover 3. He left his cover 3 zone to play cover 2.
Part two.
Absolute confusion on the hands team, horrible coaching, bad plays. You need guys to block the free runners, what were they doing.....coaching...and playing.
Discussing the game in it's entirety:
I want to know in what world should you allow Garret Wilson to cross the formation all game long and get whatever matchup he was looking for. I mean ALL DAY LONG he was just motioined over right into a linebacker or a safety. I'm sorry, Woods has to be put on notice....I'm paying a corner 100MM to stay on "his side" of the field???
No, Newsome or Ward should have been shadowing Wilson after he started eating them up in q2. There is no excuse for it.....once you SEE WITH YOUR EYES that this guy is killing you, have to adjust, they never did. That is the story of the game......a debacle at the end and Garret Wislson just lining up over backers and safeties and eating them alive with ZERO adjustment.
